How Do You Do That Voodoo That You Do?

Easy as pie, of course! Voodoo is nothing more than a specialized branch of magic that focuses on the use of simulacra (such as voodoo dolls) to achieve magical results. Our Voodoo ebook teaches you the basics of this branch of magic. For example. You will learn to...
  • facilitate communication with people and higher beings
  • divination
  • long distance healing
  • magical protection and self defense
  • using magical tools
  • banishments
Having an understanding of certain magical operational laws will help you in your voodoo practice. With a foundation of these magical laws you will be better prepared to create safe and effective voodoo spells. For example, these laws will show you that ancient or esoteric names, words or symbols must not be used without a thorough and full understanding of their meanings, pronunciations and complete references. These operational laws include:

Similarity - physical likeness creates a psychic likeness and resonance, the degree of resonance being directly proportional to the degree of physical likeness.

Identity - a physical part (piece or component) remains part of and contains the psychic whole, unless special magical operations are done to alter this.

Relationship - once there has been physical contact, there is continuing psychic contact, unless special magical action is taken to break the contact.

Symbols - a symbol may be created for any object, process or other phenomenon.

Substitution - in a magical or psychic or spiritual operation a symbol may be substituted (in the operation) for any object, process or other phenomenon.

Contagion - something done to a part, a likeness or a symbol that produces a similar effect on the divided-whole, the likened or the symbolized.

Duplication - an effect created in the physical is duplicated in the psychic and an effect created in the psychic is duplicated in the physical ("As Above, So Below").

These laws give you an idea of how voodoo magic works. This type of practice can really enhance your magical practice. To learn more about how these operational laws work and can be used in developing your own magical voodoo practice, get the How To Do Voodoo ebook.

How Divination is a Very Useful Magic Tool

Divination is a very important magic tool for magical practitioners and can be done in a variety of ways. First, what exactly is divination? Divination is obtaining information by magical or psychic means that you cannot get through the physical senses of the body. By using divination, a practitioner is able to "check in" with the Universe before performing a spell, a voodoo type ritual, or other magical technique to make sure that what he or she is doing is in sync with Rules of the Road, the right procedure for what he or she wants to accomplish, in accordance with magical self-defense rules, and being carried out correctly each step of the way.

Divination in magical practice is used to direct our "fates". That means that by using divination techniques we are able to discover the influences, energies and probability lines active in our lives. Having this information allows us to more accurately and knowingly exert control in our own lives. When delving into the future with divination there are two factors to understand:

1. The future is not set and can be changed any time before it happens.

2. Divination of future events are only the probabilities of what can happen based on assuming that current influences in our lives continue unchanged. Any change in the present will change the future.

Using Divination
If through divination you find a future event that you don't like or don't want, then you can find out what events lead up to it and change them. Making a small change in the present will lead to the future event being changed so that it either doesn't happen or happens differently than what you found in your divination. In terms of doing spellwork or another type of magical procedure, divination allows you to check yourself and make sure you are heading in the right direction to achieve the results you desire. If your divination shows you are not going in the right direction, then you can simply adjust your plan.

Here's an example of how divination can work in your life. Let's say you are going to take a road trip across country. You use divination to see if there are any problems that might occur on the trip and see yourself involved in a car wreck. You can now do some additional divination techniques to gather information such as what other car is involved in the accident or where along the route the accident occurs. Then when it comes time for your trip you can stop before getting to that place in the trip and wait a while or pull off the road and wait until you see the other car pass you by. By making a small change in the present you can change the results in the future and the outcome of your trip.

Firebowl Divination
Using the Firebowl for divination purposes is a simple way to start practicing magical divination techniques. If you don't already have a firebowl, you can find instructions on making one HERE. Divination can be done through direct or indirect methods and the Firebowl provides you with a direct method of divination in that it gives you a visual field that the mind can visually project the information you are seeking. Direct divination methods allow psychic or unconscious perceptions to manifest into the 5 senses so we can understand them. Firebowl divination is very useful for finding people, or objects that you don't know where they are or maybe a lost pet and for looking into the past or the future. Here's how to use the Firebowl for divination:

1. Find a quiet place where you will not be distracted or interrupted.

2. Sit in the South facing North with your Firebowl in front of you.

3. You will not charge the Firebowl for divination purposes like you do for other purposes and a water incense is the best medium to burn as the Water element is the psychic element.

4. Start your incense burning in the Firebowl and wait until you have a good column of smoke going. Add more incense onto the charcoal disk if you need to in order to get a good column of smoke.

5. Hold an image of a person or object if they are connected to the information you are seeking and/or get very curious about the topic, question, person or object.

6. You can ask questions to increase your feeling of curiosity such as "Where is...?", "Where was I in [name time period]?", or What is likely to happen if I...?".

7. Peer into the column of smoke and look for images or visual clues to form. Some people find it easier to close their eyes when looking into the smoke to keep visual distraction out.

8. If you get an image, but not in enough detail to make sense to you, keep asking questions until it becomes clearer or you can ask the image to zoom in or out, shift left or shift right so that you can see more details in the "picture".

Remember that the future is not set. Divinations into the future tell you what is likely to happen if everything stays the same in the present. That is one of the beauties of divination; being able to look ahead and make changes now if we don't like what we see. Making Magick a Way of Life

You can make magick a way of life by using magick anywhere you can and taking notice of the results. Most of us are in such a hurry that we don't notice when the magick happens. That's why people say magick happens in the "in betweens", little gaps in our lives where magick slips in. We are usually so preoccupied we fail to notice. But to live a magckal life, you not only need to DO magic everywhere you can, but notice and appreciate how magick is taking place in your life. Be sure to remember also to give thanks when you ask for help and magickal help arrives. Consider The Complete Guide of Witchcraft Rituals & Spells for Beginners, our Book 4 of the Witchcraft Spell Book series of Kindle books for a bunch a neat magickal rituals to include as part of your magickal practice.

Walking In The Rain By Running Water for Fresh Insight
Here's an example of one of the rituals you'll find in this Kindle book that can help you let go of old patterns and habits that interfere with your spiritual growth or enjoyment of life and make room in your life for magick. The element of Water has long been used since tribal times for cleansing and to help in releasing the old and bringing in the new. By walking in the rain by running water, old beliefs that no longer serve were washed away by the running water and new ideas, insights, and inspiration came from above with the rain. Here's how it's done:

1. If you can, find a place in Nature where you can walk in the rain by running water (you would, of course, have to perform this ritual on a rainy day).

2. As you walk by or stand in the running water feel your old beliefs and worries fall away, being carried by the flow of the water to be recycled in some other form, in some other place in the Universe. Also release any repetitive thoughts, feelings of anxiety, and anything negative you want to release.

3. As you stand under the rain, feel the brightness and refreshment of the new bursting into your world-- new ideas, new will to work, new expressions of creativity, and new feelings of all kinds.

If you want, you can also pray to whatever powers and beings inspire you, telling them exactly what you want to release and what you'd like to welcome into your life. For this ritual to work, you need to have running water, not standing water as standing water is stagnant, and therefore does not do a great job of carrying negativity away from you.

But What If It's Not Raining?
If you find yourself needing this ritual at a time when it is raining and can get to a source of running water such as a river or stream, then great; you're all set. More often you will find this situation of rain and getting out into nature by running water does not fit into your schedule or you need the ritual on a sunny day. Instead, you can turn to your shower. Fresh water from above and running water below and chances are you already work a shower into your day. Just follow the same directions as in the above steps using the shower for running water below and falling water from above.

Magick can become a way of life for you just by inviting it in and practicing some type of daily rituals or intentional acts each day. The rain ritual is a great way to clear out your old negative beliefs about your life and clear the way for your new magickal way of life.

Developing a Magickal Practice

Our last newsletter article gave you several daily rituals to explore using to invite magick into your life and discover your own magickal pathway. I hope you have had time to try at least one of these out by now. If not, no worries, you can get started anytime you are ready, but of course there is no time like the present and really you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by getting started. Keep in mind that the more you pay into your magickal practice the more you will get out of it. In other words, the more consistent you are with your practice, the more results you will see. No matter which of the rituals you picked, aim for doing it each day for 40 days in a row. This will help you develop consistency in your practice. Although the goal is to practice your ritual 40 days in a row that is merely the goal to go towards. The consistency comes from the journey on your magickal path. Here's the part that really helps you develop consistency: If you miss a day when aiming for your 40 days, you must start over at day 1. I don't know anyone that has not had to start over at day 1 so don't beat yourself up when it happens. Just know it is all part of the process.

Just to make all this even easier for you and give you the simplest magickal exercise to practice aiming for 40 days in a row, here's the Consistency Exercise.

1. Choose a very simple act (ie. – touching your nose or making a mark on a paper)

2. Pick the time of day that you will do your act every day.

3. When the time you have chosen comes, do the simple act. Do it every day at the same time for 40 days in a row.

4. If you miss a day during your 40 days, which you almost certainly will, you must begin your 40 days over at day 1. Even if you are at day 39 and miss the next day, you start over at 1.

5. Remind yourself the important thing is to do the exercise, not accomplish the goal, so do not berate yourself when you end up missing a day and have to start over.

This exercise works as an act of intention which makes it a magickal act and by choosing a simple intentional act to do every day at the same time then consciously doing it you are able to:
  • increase the level and quality of your connection to the higher
  • bring yourself back to present time
  • invite magick in to be a part of your everyday life
  • build your inner force
  • become more comfortable with practicing your magickal skills in public
  • make changes to your habitual thought patterns.

Try the Consistency Exercise for yourself and keep it going. Then use the same principle using some of the other daily rituals we've presented you. Remember, what you pay into your practice will pay you back in unexpected ways. When you're ready to move on to more magickal learning consider our collection of Kindle books or ebooks that can help you open the doorway and invite even more magic into your life.
