You Are Psychic--Yes, You!

Not only can everyone learn magic, everyone is also psychic. Yes, that means you too! We all have these abilities in us. Some people are just better at using these abilities naturally than others. Just like some people are better cooks than others or better athletes than others, some people are more naturally clairvoyant or use their psychic abilities better than others. All that means is that you need some instruction and practice to wake up those hidden abilities and to learn how to develop psychic abilities that you can use. That is why we created our Psychic Development ebook. This book will give you exercises specifically to practice using and develop psychic abilities to their fullest. Don't believe it? Here's one of the exercises from the ebook to try out for yourself.

How To Develop Psychic Abilities Exercise
There are people who are naturally more tuned-in to psychic wavelengths than others, but there are also many other psychics who simply practice, refine, and verify their abilities with regular exercises. Everyone has these abilities, sometimes they are just weakened from non-use. Here's a simple exercise to start waking up those abilities. Don't be concerned about your results in the beginning. The goal here is to start giving your psychic abilities a little exercise to wake them up, energize them and get them going.

You can start by practicing this exercise in accessing information that you can't possibly know from your five physical body senses. Begin by becoming aware of your environment and asking yourself questions about the places you go and the people you see. For example, if you are going into a workshop or conference presentation, ask yourself, "How many people will be in this workshop?". Ask yourself this question before you walk into the room where the presentation is taking place. Then stop and take the time to listen for an answer. Take the first answer that comes to you, don't stop and think about it or try to figure it out, just see what number comes to you. Then thank yourself for the answer.

Now here's the hard part. Don't walk into the room and start counting people to see if you were "right". Instead, walk into the room and go to your seat acting as if you never asked yourself the question at all. This is important because first we are just beginning to exercise these psychic abilities and if you don't get the exactly right answer the first time, your mind will start interfering with the process by introducing the doubt factor. You know what I mean, the "see I got it wrong, I'm not psychic", "boy did I mess up, won't try that again" type messages. Adding this kind of uncertainty into the mix in the early stages will not help you develop psychic abilities.

Why Can't I Verify My Answers?
At some point, you will ask questions that it will be hard to avoid seeing the answer to. For example, if you are shopping and ask yourself what the highest discount being offered in a particular store is today. If you go into that store, it will be hard not to see what the actual percent-off sale is. Or if you ask if you will meet someone you know in the store, that would be hard not to see the answer. In the beginning though, try to avoid verifying your answers. This will allow you to be more open to what your psychic abilities tell you without your mind chatter shutting you down. Practice this a little every day and soon you will start noticing that your "answers" are accurate most of the time. How long before this happens? That totally depends on the individual. Just like some people can learn to cook quickly and others take more time, the same is true when you set out to learn how to develop psychic abilities. Selective perception is one of the basic principles in magic and in developing your psychic abilities. You are trying to access information in another realm and therefore have to learn to focus your attention in that realm. Putting your attention only on the asking and receiving is the key to success.

So remember these steps in this exercise when you start out learning how to develop psychic abilities.
1. Ask yourself a question you couldn't know with your 5 senses
2. Listen for the first answer you get
3. Thank yourself for the answer
4. Avoid verifying your answers

Now give the exercise a try for yourself, don't get discouraged, have fun with it and you'll be on your way to beefing up your psychic abilities.

This course sends you an email each week for 52 weeks with magic tips and techniques to try out to learn magic. Here is a sample of one of the many magic techniques you can get from this course:

Slow Down Your Mind
If you have one of those minds that stays in high gear and is hard to turn off or stays in worry mode, you can use magic to help slow it down. A mind that is constantly going can make it hard to go to sleep at night, to meditate or just enjoy some silence and relaxation time. With this technique you slow down your body to slow down your mind.

Here's all you have to do. When you feel your mind taking off and getting out of control, get up and start moving around very, very SLOWLY. Walk from one side of the room to the other taking very slow and deliberate steps. As you move, feel each sensation in your body. Feel your feet making contact with the ground, your arms swinging by your side, your breath moving in and out of your lungs and so forth. The more you sink into the physical sensations and slow your body down, the slower your mind will start moving. Doing this regularly will help your mind be able to slow down when you need it to like when you want to go to sleep or meditate and keep it much more focused when you need to work.

This is also a good technique to use if you are feeling anxious or nervous. Give it a try and then get the Everyday Magic Email Course for a simple way to learn magic and get more magical insights like this.

Magical Newbie? Get the Downlow on Magic and How to Study It

It seems like we get more and more emails all the time from people just discovering the world of real magic and wanting to know how to study magic. We think it's great that the word is continuing to spread and more people are showing an interest in magical studies. Of course when it comes to magic, there are numerous traditions that one can study. We suggest that newbies look through our website and blog articles to get an idea of the type of magical studies and traditions that we offer. But no matter what tradition you end up finding that resonates with you, learning about the 4 elements of Air, Water, Earth, and Fire is always a good place to start. Since everything in the Universe is comprised of the 4 elements, they are literally part of everything else you will study in magic.

Starting with the 4 Elements
In general the magical tradition that you choose to follow will define how to study by what types of resources are available. Since the 4 elements are at the foundation of magical studies, we start our Basic Magic class students off by teaching them indepth information about the correspondences and characteristics of each of the elements. They then use each element with its various colors and each of its characteristics in a practical way so as to develop personal experience with each. This same information is available to all in short courses of each element on multi-media cd. After the 4 elements have been mastered, students can then move on to studies that include:
  • Universal Laws that govern magical practice
  • Hand Magic and Self Defense
  • Magical Tools: Firebowl, Wand, Athame, Chalice and Plate
  • Divination
  • Tarot
  • Sonics
  • Spellwork
More Magic for Newbies
One important point to make to newbies is that magic is an ongoing study. It is not a quick study and for the true magician it becomes a way of life. And though there are various magical traditions that have differences in their ways and practices, there are also many similarities between them. It is pretty universal that magic gives us the ability to communicate with beings on all levels, gives us a connection with nature and spirit beings, gives us direct experience with the workings of the Universe including co-creating to manifest that which we desire, and is a path of spiritual growth. Magic as practiced at the Esoteric School is also defined as:
  • a precision science
  • the science of deliberate creation.
  • the science of effective prayer.
  • the science of manifesting Higher Will on the energetic and material planes
  • the science of heightened awareness, selective perception, and dynamic, harmonious relationships.
  • the study of intention (as per Aleister Crowley, one of the greatest magicians).
  • the system of creation, not coercion.
If all this sounds good to you, you can get your magical feet wet with our Kindle Book, Witchcraft Spell Book: The Complete Guide of Witchcraft Rituals & Spells for Beginners. To find out more about the magical studies we offer and how to study magic visit our How To Study Magic section of our website for a more extensive look at magical topics. After all it's never too late to make magic a part of your life.

Magic for When Someone is Acting Like a Donkey's Butt

Can you use magic when someone is treating you badly, invading your privacy or sacred space or just rather acting like a donkey's butt? As long as you make sure you are on the right side of the Rules of the Road, the rules for magical self defense, and have done nothing to provoke the situation, then you certainly can. There are several means of self-defense magic that you can use in this matter, but using simulacra or voodoo magic is another option. You can learn more about voodoo or simulacra magic in our How to Do Voodoo ebook, but here is a technique one of our mentors used when he discovered a "watcher" had been placed in his home.

What is a Watcher?
Before getting to the voodoo technique; a little history. What exactly is a watcher? There are magical practitioners that can create energy matrices that look like insects such as flies, wasps or ants or they animate the actual bodies of small insects that have died. They use these forms because they are able to slip through your shields and omnils that you have around your home for protection. They are usually used to spy on you or influence you and are therefore called watchers. Watchers many times are thought forms that are sent by others. Since thought forms are connected to the body with a silver cord, they can be dangerous when cut. Cutting one of these cords causes it to snap back at the person and can sometimes result in death. If you suspect you may have a watcher around you, look for signs such as an insect that shows up in a place it could not have naturally gotten to, one that does not have the right numbers of legs and wings that it should naturally have, or if it travels in a straight line or follows you around the house.

Testing For a Watcher
There are a few different techniques you can use as a test to see if you do have a watcher and possibly find out who sent it. Here is the technique we promised to pass on from our mentor.

Use your Chalice, the magical tool for the Water element, to first capture the suspected watcher. The Chalice is a type of standing shield that is as effective as an omnil so anything captured in it becomes confined and isolated. When you see the suspected watcher being still, put your Chalice upside down over it. Then slide a thin cardboard piece under the Chalice and holding the cardboard over the top of the cup, turn the Chalice to an upright position. Now you have captured the watcher and can inspect it more closely through the Chalice. If you want to find out who sent it, you can do like our mentor did and tape the cardboard down over the top of the cup so that it doesn't escape, then pack it up and send it literally on a slow boat to China. Once he did this, all he had to do was look around at people he knew for signs of seasickness or nausea. Once he found the person who had these symptoms for several months, he knew that he did indeed have a watcher and exactly who had sent it. This works because the sender did not disconnect from the watcher before it was trapped and so whatever was done to the watcher had the same effect on the sender. It is like a simulacra that is keyed to a particular person or a voodoo doll. For this reason, you do need to be careful and make sure you are within your magical rights when planning what you will do to the watcher.

To learn more about simulacra or voodoo magic and watchers as well as various techniques to use with them all, check out the How to Do Voodoo ebook. There is so much you can magically accomplish with this fascinating study.

Shamanism And Medical Science - Mutually Exclusive Disciplines?

contributed by reader, Jenni Greaves

Shamanism is, sadly, viewed by many as a dubious quack-practice grounded in bygone superstition. The minds of such people are closed to the potential of shamanic healing, and they have no wish to discuss the matter. However, some who may not quite believe in the more mystical aspects of shamanism are perfectly willing to accept it as a practice which can be of immense help to the psyche. Indeed, many have likened psychologists to modern shamans, their jobs essentially being to conduct people through the sometimes perilous realm of their souls (or psyches) and resolve conflicts therein. Though the ideological theories of the two doctrines may differ in some ways, the essential aim and, often modus operandi, bear marked similarities. This is increasingly becoming a matter of interest to modern science. Vanderbilt University points out that "Shamanic methods of working with dreams and being conscious and awake while dreaming open new doors in psychological research into the nature and history of consciousness" [1].  While some may be doubtful about the magical aspects of shamanism, modern medicine is growing to accept its psychological and even physical value. Even disbelievers can therefore benefit from shamanism without feeling that they are compromising their scientific principles.

The Psychoanalyst As Shaman
The idea of shamanic soul-flights as psychological healing tools have been present ever since the fathers of psychiatry began to appreciate the presence of and delve into the human subconscious. Freud and Jung, the undisputed fathers of modern psychiatry, were incredibly interested in the myths, symbols and archetypes with which shamans work. Both saw such things as representative of deep cultural mores which are both embedded within and representative of the human mind. Though couching his theories in scientific language, the exploration of the psyche which Freud published in "The Interpretation of Dreams" [2] would have been recognizable to any shaman. The way Freud saw it, mythic frameworks, symbols, and tale-formulae were a way in which humans could interpret and engage with their psychological states (and the demons inherent therein). The shamanic view is something more mysterious, spiritual, and magical, but the idea of healing through a mythic 'soul-journey' is common to both disciplines.

Mind, Body, Soul - Full Integration
Recently, medical science has begun to turn its attention to the spiritual and emotional aspects of healing. Initially this trend began (understandably enough) within the spheres of mental health and psychiatry. However, the medical establishment is now tentatively beginning to explore the connection between mind and body in an enhanced manner, focusing on the emotional aspects of pain and disease, and the physical effects of psychological trauma. This field of study began where physical illness and mental trauma self-evidently overlap – with addiction and substance disorders. The popularity and apparent success of recovery programs which focused on a degree of spirituality gave medical authorities – accustomed to dealing with disorders purely on a physical or chemical basis, pause for thought. The Betty Ford Institute and the Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment investigated the phenomenon in 2007, concluding that "spirituality, however hard to define in operational terms, likely constitutes an important motivator for recovery for some (perhaps many) substance-dependent people." [3]. From a shamanic point of view, an addiction is an affliction of the soul caused by the absence or damage of some aspect of the self. Retrieval of the errant part and spiritual re-integration causes the person to become whole again, whereupon they will not need the actions of drugs or alcohol to fill the 'gap'. While unwilling or unable to accept this precise reasoning, medical practitioners are now accepting that addiction is a psychological problem which can be greatly aided by psychoanalytical and spiritual techniques which aid psychological wellness and wholeness. Rehabs.com state that many treatment centers now employ semi-spiritual methods designed to promote mental wholeness and wellness, including "massage and acupuncture services"  [4].

Shamanism and Pain
Shamanism and shamanistic techniques are also being explored in relation to pain and the person's ability to cope with it. In 1949, anthropologist Claude Levi-Strauss published "Structural Anthropology" [5] – a book which delved into anthropological theory, practice and conclusions. Within this book was a paper entitled "The Effectiveness of Symbols", in which Levi-Strauss described and analyzed a shamanic ritual of the Cuna people from Panama. The purpose of the ritual was to aid a woman with a difficult childbirth. The shaman, through an elaborate blend of tale-telling and ritual, pulled the woman into a mythic yet deeply personal world which Levi-Strauss perceived to belong to the cultural subconscious. The shaman and his patient believed themselves to be drawing positive spiritual energies to their side and embarking upon a mythic journey through which the woman's soul would be rendered whole and she would gain the strength needed to get through the birth. Levi-Strauss saw it in less mystical terms, but was in no way immune to the psychological potential of the ritual. Indeed, he compared the shaman to a psychoanalyst and drew strong parallels between the ultimate aim and results of the ritual and that of a psychoanalytic session. Neither was he too closed-minded to appreciate the real, physical healing potential of the shamanic ritual. Even though he did not believe in magic or the religion of the Cuna, he did believe in the potential within the mind to heal and aid the body. According to Levi-Strauss, the shaman was "making explicit a situation originally existing on the emotional level and...rendering acceptable to the mind pains which the body refuses to tolerate".  Medical science increasingly accepts that the volume of pain is less important than the mind's ability to cope with it. Naturally every person has their breaking point, but it is truly astounding what the human can bear when they have the right mentality. The British Journal of Anesthesia points out that a person's beliefs about and understanding of the pain which they are experiencing can form "part of the psychosocial context, known to be the largest indicator in predicting the extent of pain-associated disability" [6], and go on to recommend cognitive behavioral therapy for sufferers of chronic pain, in order to diminish their suffering and enable them to cope. In just such a manner does the shaman build up the psychological strength of the patient, bolstering them, unlocking the resources hidden deep within their souls, and enabling them to draw upon those resources to aid them in their pain.

Better United
It seems, therefore, that shamanistic techniques and medical techniques - particularly those of the psychiatrist - can be successfully combined to bring about healing even for those who do not believe in mystical shamanism. The ancient shamans knew a good deal more about the depths of our minds and the relations between mind and body than western science has, until recently, cared to admit-  and their techniques can still be used to bring about unity and healing for suffering people.

Combining Magical and Conventional Healing Techniques

One of the things that a ceremonial leader once told me is: "Do magic. Do ceremony. Converse with Powers and Beings. AND... get insurance." When we are ill, we have to listen to our inner voice as to which magical and which conventional healing techniques are best for us. That means you have a wide array of possibilities to consider when you seek healing. You can choose from energy balancing, acupuncture, homeopathic remedies, the dragon's breath technique, sweeping with an Athame, use aromatherapy, Kundalini yoga, have conventional surgery, use psychic surgery, take pharmaceuticals, and many, many more magical and traditional Eastern and Western medicine techniques. It's not a one size fits all world when it comes to healing. You can choose a more or less conventional healing route or a combination of them. It all comes down to what methods will put your specific energies back into balance.

Energy and Healing
Since everything is energy, illness and disease can be described as energy states that are out of harmony or out of balance. Using any healing techniques that change the energy to bring it back into harmony can help heal what ails you. Our Energy Healing for Self and Others ebook can help you learn a variety of techniques, some magical and some more conventional that work with bringing your energy back into harmony. As you think about which types of healing techniques to use, here are some foundational healing principles to consider.

Healing Principles
Anything Can Be Healed – Any condition can be healed. It doesn't matter how chronic or acute it is, there is always hope that it can be healed.

You Are a Healer – Yes, YOU can heal. You can heal yourself, animals, the planet and other people. Whether you know it or not, you already know how to heal because healing is natural for humans. Sometimes you just need some help learning how to use your inborn magical healing abilities.

All Healing is About Changing Energy – Everything in the Universe is made up of energy. Even things that appear to be solid are just a big bunch of energy that is constantly vibrating or moving. When the energy for a living thing is out of harmony or balance, illness, pain and disease can result. The shift in energy is not a match for one's normal vibrational state which causes one to be sick. Healing is just adjusting that state back into balance.

To Heal You Must Let Go – Anything you can let go of, you can heal. Disease and illness are often the result of a life situation, issue or hurt that we are holding onto. Sometimes what we are holding onto is from a past life. Using healing techniques to release the emotions around the situation can lead to healing.

You Carry a Legacy of Healing Knowledge – One of the really great things about learning to heal now is that anything you learn in this lifetime carries over to future lifetimes. That's why some people seem to just be natural healers. They've done it before and brought the knowledge with them into their current lifetime.

Healing Evolves as We Do – We are all continuously learning, growing, developing and evolving. As we go through changes, so will the illnesses and diseases we encounter. Think about diseases that were prevalent in the past that we had to learn to heal – smallpox, polio, the plague. Today the focus is more on cancers, heart disease and AIDS. As disease evolves so must healing. Healers must continue to learn and grow to be able to make adjustments to healing techniques or develop new ones to deal with the current diseases.

Really think about each of these principles, what they mean and how they apply to you as a healer. Then all you need to do is to start your journey down the path of learning various techniques of healing. You can do it... with a little magic.

Why Me? Need Info? Here are Some Magical Methods

Ever wonder why whatever is happening in your life is happening to you? Does it seem sometimes like you have no control and you are at the mercy of chaos and chance happenings? Maybe you need some magical answers to get a grip on your life and take back control. The first thing you need to know is that as a planetary citizen you have a right to any and all information in the Universe. What you do with that information, especially if it concerns other people then falls under the Rules of the Road, but you are entitled to have the information whether you choose to use it or not and however you choose to use it. There are many magical ways to obtain information from spirit guides, higher powers and beings and even from your own Spirit. You will find many of these in our Witchcraft Spell Books series Book 4, The Complete Guide of Witchcraft Rituals & Spells for Beginners. Here are a couple to get you started.

Question Circle
To do a Question Circle you will need to gather a sun yellow candle on a plate or enclosed in glass, paper or wooden matches, pen, and paper. You may also need a compass to help you figure out the cardinal directions of east, south, west, and north. Then follow these directions:

1. Light your yellow candle with your matches.

2. Take your candle, pen, and paper to the east quarter of your circle and sit there facing the outside of the circle (facing east). Ask the Winds of Knowledge what you need to know about your situation, and get quiet inside as you wait for the answer. Be prepared to write down everything that comes to you. Don't think about it, just write. Keep writing until you no longer receive information. Thank the Winds of Knowledge and move to the next step.

3. Get up and move to the south quadrant of your circle, and sit there facing the south. Ask the Winds of Power to show you what actions you need to take for your situation. Again, write any answers that come to you. Thank the Winds of Power.

4. Move to the west quadrant and sit facing west. Ask the Winds of Feeling what emotional shifts you need to make regarding your situation. You may also want to ask for spiritual enlightenment. Thank the Winds of Feeling, and then move to the next quarter.

5. Move to the north, and sit facing north. Ask the Winds of Strength how you can build a foundation for the future you want. Ask for practical guidance about your situation. Thank the Winds of Strength.

6. Now that you have consulted the Winds of each direction, move back to sit at the center of your circle and sit facing east. Read through the answers you wrote that came to you from each direction. Slowly let all the information sink in and reflect upon it. You may want to repeat the question circle several times, at different times, until you get the clarity you need on your situation.

Getting Answers from Yourself
Our life experiences are like a school in which we have set up a number of problems so that as we go through our lives we discover ourselves by discovering the answers. For example, if you find that you keep encountering the same kind of problems over and over again in just different situations or with different people, then that should give you a clue that there is a lesson there for you to learn. Here is a magical technique to use to get answers from your own Spirit.
  • Get a sheet of paper and write down the question that you would like to have answered using your dominant hand to write with. For example you might ask what lesson you are to learn from your current situation.
  • Then switch your pen or pencil to your other hand (non-dominant hand) and write the first thing that comes to you. Do not stop to think about the question or the answer, just write.
  • If you do not get an answer that makes sense right away, don't fret. Just hold the question or any answer you got in your consciousness over the next several days and see if anything comes to you that clarifies it. Information often comes in small pieces at a time so that we can digest it better. It may be only a partial answer at this point and more will come as you are ready for it.

Now you know a way to get answers from higher powers and from your own Spirit as to why conditions are the way they are in your life. You have a right to this information and it can help you decide if there is something you can learn from the situation or if you want to make a change. Take control of your life magically starting with getting the information you need to make a good choice for yourself.

Need to Dump a Chronic Health Problem Magically? Try This...

There are many techniques to magically deal with health problems, but many of them require some knowledge or foundation of magic. For example, to balance your energy, you have to know about the four elements, their characteristics, how to flow or dump those energies and maybe how to flow them through their associated magical tools. Here's one of the techniques from our Daily Rituals for Attracting What You Want in Life ebook that you can try though without any magical background.

This technique is especially good for those who like physical activity and/or enjoy getting out in nature. You take your chronic health problem and literally throw the symptoms away. Here's how:

1. Go for a walk in the woods, a park, along the beach, or anywhere you are sure to find some rocks and preferably one that has some body of water in it.

2. Take a strong bag or some other object you can use to carry rocks in.

3. You've probably guessed now that the next step is to pick up rocks on your walk. Don't just randomly pick up rocks though. Pick up one rock for each of the symptoms you display for the chronic health problem you want to get rid of and put it in your bag.

4. Don't hurry the process, think through your specific health problem and all the physical symptoms, mental symptoms, the inconvenience or worries it causes for you and any other negative condition that surrounds this problem. For each one you think of pick up a rock and put it in your bag.

5. Now find a body of water such as a lake, the ocean, or a pond in your nature walk area.

6. Standing by the body of water take one rock at a time out of the bag.

7. Hold the rock in your output hand (the hand you naturally point with), focus your intention on the rock and feel yourself flowing one of the negative conditions you thought of earlier into the rock. Do this until the rock feels changed energetically in some way. It may feel tingly or warmer.

8. Then throw the rock as far as you can into the body of water feeling yourself let it go.

How Does It Work?
That's it! Sounds simple, right? It is and now for the magic lesson behind this technique. What you have just done is called simulacra or voodoo magic. You have formed a correlation or psychic connection between a physical object (the rock) and the condition (physical symptom, emotion, thought...). Simulacra or voodoo magic works that same way. You are probably familiar with the term voodoo doll. Well, that is a simulacra of a person. You form a correlation by "keying" the doll to a particular person and then whatever you do to the doll affects the person the doll is keyed to.

To avoid karmic backlash you want to be very careful with what you do to a keyed voodoo doll and make sure you are acting in accordance with the laws that govern magical practice. As another caution, be sure when you are picking your rocks that you don't key them to a specific person or other living thing that could drown when thrown in the lake. For example, if your boss is stressing you out at work which has led to your chronic health condition, don't make one of the conditions you flow into a rock your boss. Instead flow in the emotions you have about it like resentments, fears, and angers or the tasks your boss is assigning to you that stress you out or even the attitude of your boss, but NOT your boss him or herself. The same holds true if your condition centers around a body part or organ. Don't key the rock to the organ or body part, but rather the symptom or emotions you have about the problem with the organ. Once you throw the rock in the water the correlation or psychic connection you formed is severed. According to the laws of simulacra magic, this also severs your connection to the condition the rock was connected to. You can see now why you wouldn't want to have a rock keyed to an organ or part of your body. You certainly don't want to sever your liver or your arm from yourself!

An alternative to throwing the rocks in a body of water is to bury them in the ground and let Mother Earth cleanse them. Leave them there for at least one moon cycle. Whichever way you choose, you now know a magical way to help you deal with a chronic health problem and have discovered that whether you knew it or not, you do know magic.

For this situation, you'd want to clear your belief that you will not advance at work or clear whatever has been preventing you from advancing if you know specific things that have contributed to it. Here's how:
  1. Hold your pendulum in your dominant hand, letting it dangle while you visualize the problem you want to clear.
  2. Ask your pendulum using a yes/no indicator plate, "Can I, may I, should I, clear this situation?" If you get a yes answer from your pendulum, then you can get started.
  3. Begin swinging your pendulum in a counter clockwise direction (the direction of unwinding), asking it to clear the situation. As you do this, "see" the situation resolving in your mind. Be very specific with your request and what you envision as to the situation being resolved.
  4. Continue to focus on clearing the situation until your pendulum stops spinning in the counter clockwise direction. It will then either start moving along a vertical or horizontal axis, stop, or start spinning clockwise.
  5. When it stops swinging counter clockwise on its own then the problem has been cleared.
Of course, once a problem has been cleared, you might unconsciously bring it back by worrying about it. Trust the power of your pendulum and your intent, and release the problem from your consciousness. If you find it seeping back into your consciousness throughout the day, change your focus to something else.

Come Alongs
Come Alongs are a magical technique to help you attract what you want to bring into your life. They are not quite as powerful as a candle spell, but are a good way for those who don't have much magical background to get started. Here's how you do it:

1. You will need a keyed plate (magical tool of the element Earth) and a magnet or Sun Yellow candle. If you do not have a formally keyed plate, there is a quick key method beginners can use:
  • Place your hands on either side of the Plate
  • Grip the Plate with your thumbs on the top surface of the Plate and the rest of your fingers supporting the underside of the Plate.
  • Look at a Grass Green Earth energy color source and begin flowing Grass Green energy from your dominant hand (hand you naturally point with) through the Plate into your other hand
  • Keep the energy flowing up your arm, across your shoulders, down the arm of your dominant hand and out your output hand again
  • Circulate Grass Green for about three minutes, then pull your Earth energy back into your body.
  • You will know the plate is keyed when it feels slightly tingly, heavy, warm or loaded or definitely different than before you keyed it in some way.
2. You will also need to write a set of directors and limiters. This is a very important step, so please read the article on what to include in your directors and limiters. Then write a list of them on paper.

3. Now that you have a written list of directors and limiters, place them on your keyed plate.

4. You can now choose to use either a Sun Yellow candle or a magnet for this step.
     a. Charge the candle with the verse:
"Child of wonder, child of flame
Nourish my Spirit and bring my aim!"
Then place the candle on top of your written list on your plate and leave it burning for about an hour. According to the amount of force and energy you need for what you are trying to attract, you may need to relight and charge the candle much more than just one time. Be sure to use fire safety precautions while the candle is burning so that it does not ignite the paper or anything else.

     b. Using a magnet is another way to do this step. If you cannot be in the area to keep an eye on your lit candle then this may be a preferable method. You can also leave it set up on your plate and not have to do multiple sessions. Simply place a large magnet on top of the list on your keyed plate to draw what you have specified on paper to you.

Take control of your own life by learning how to attract the things you want. You don't have to wait around for a boss to discover your potential. Just a little magic in your life can be like a hammer to help you bust through those glass ceilings.

Relationship Magic: Take the Guesswork Out of Pleasing Your Partner

For many different reasons, you know people do not always say exactly what they mean or what they want, but using relationship magic can help you have true conversations and take the guesswork out of what your partner really wants. Using your psychic skills, you can communicate with others on a spirit to spirit basis or "read" what the other person really wants in a relationship. There are many different magical techniques that can facilitate a spirit to spirit communication such as using a water bowl or firebowl. You can also develop your psychic abilities to the point that you will be able to "read" others and sense what your partner truly wants.

Learning to Read People Psychically
Here is an exercise that will help you start developing your psychic abilities in learning to "read" other people. Don't get caught up on finding out if your descriptions are right or wrong. At this point there is no right or wrong. Right now you are just practicing tuning in with your psychic powers and psychic abilities instead of your usual five senses or mind chatter. The only goal right now is to practice. The more you practice and get used to using your Spirit abilities the more your observations will improve. So, relax and get ready to start practicing this exercise:

1. Get a pen, paper and a timer or watch.

2. Go to a public place that has lots of people. Restaurants, airports, malls, or a public park are all good places. If you cannot get out then turn the sound off on your TV and use the people you see on it.

3. Pick a comfortable place to sit and where you will not feel self-conscious or obvious. If you feel like you will "stick out" or think others will think you odd for looking at them, this can interfere with the exercise.

4. Pick a person that you are going to observe for 30 seconds.

5. Set your timer for 30 seconds or note the time on your watch and note the time you will stop 30 seconds later.

6. Start writing anything and everything that you can about the person you are observing. Some things you write will be things that can be observed by your 5 senses such as hair color, heavy or thin, type of clothing, or what activities they are doing. The key here is not to think about what you are writing, just write. Do not pause in your writing and write as much as you can, as fast as you can in your 30 second period. This will help you override "mind" and the physical 5 senses observations so that some of your observations will include things you cannot have observed with your 5 senses like that the person has a sensitive nature or has four brothers and works indoors.

7. After your 30 seconds is over, pick another person to observe, set your timer and repeat the process of writing about this person for 30 seconds.

8. Repeat this process until you have observed 10 different people for 30 seconds each over a 5 minute period.

Developing your psychic abilities is a great place to start with relationship magic. Doing exercises such as this one and others you will find in our Psychic Development ebook will allow you to access information that can guide you in a relationship or give you information to help you decide if this is maybe not a relationship you want to pursue. Remember to follow the Rules of the Road and that you have the right to gather information that you can't access with your five senses as long as you stay in accordance with these rules. Unless you are one of those people who have been blessed with a natural psychic gift, you will need to practice, practice, practice exercises such as this one before you start getting reliable results using your psychic abilities. Don't worry though, you have them... everyone does. You just need to get yours out, dust them off and put them to work for you.

Relationship Magic: Are You An Earth Personality?

In our last blog article we discussed relationship magic in relation to the Water element personality. This article focuses on the Earth element personality. Gaining knowledge about the 4 elements and which of them is most predominant in your personality can give you a greater understanding into your relationships with others. Relationship magic begins with an understanding of the characteristics of your predominant element. With this knowledge, you can gain insight into your own personality which can lead you to choosing a career and relationships that you will be successful in. If you know what element your personality is, then you can balance with other elements when needing to interact with a person of an incompatible element or to accommodate for certain situations. You can also know what people are good matches with you by determining their elemental make-up.

The Earth Element
In magic, one of the basic principles is that almost everything in the Universe is made up of a combination of the 4 elements: Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. With an understanding of the 4 elements and their characteristics you can understand anything in the Universe. That includes your basic personality and your relationships. You can learn more about the Earth element in our Magical Element Earth short course. To get you started, here are some of the basic characteristics associated with the Earth element:

strength, money, foundation, endurance, structure, mundane world, serenity of beingness, solidity, boundaries, permanence, land, commerce, products, confidence, loyalty, persistence, stubbornness, fortress, security, anchor, barter, substance, body, base, possessions

The Earth Personality
After reading the above characteristics of the Earth element, look at them in relation to your own personality, relationships and interactions. Do any of these sound like personality traits that you exhibit? If you are an Earth personality you are a practical and pragmatic person. You are a down to earth person with much strength, endurance, patience and persistence. Structure, boundaries, loyalty and permanence are things that you value. Earth personalities are often good at commerce and build strong foundations in their relationships and lives. Earth people are great manifesters and builders and do well in situations that they can add structure to. They want to know how things work and often fool around with improving everything. They are solid people that others drift to in uncertain times or see as an anchor or a "rock" and very often are very serene people. The challenge for Earth people is not getting stuck in a rut. Their desire for stability can often lead to stubbornness and inflexibility. They err on the side of caution, make decisions slowly and usually avoid taking risks. Another challenge for Earth people is their tendency to get bogged down with too many materials possessions, especially large ones.

The Road to Success With an Earth Element Personality
Earth personalities will do well in roles and situations that allow them to exercise their practicality and love of structure. Careers that emphasize stability, strength, loyalty and long-term dedication will be the most successful. Earth people should avoid situations with lots of quick change and too much risk taking. A good challenge for an Earth person however is in learning to take some risks periodically.

Finding out your elemental personality type is the first step in relationship magic. This article should give you a pretty good idea as to whether you are predominantly an Earth Personality type. Relationships Magic: Are You A Water Personality?

In our last blog article we discussed relationship magic in relation to the Fire element personality. This article focuses on the Water element personality. When you know which of the 4 elements is most predominant in your personality, you can gain a greater understanding into your relationships with others. Relationship magic entails first of all developing an understanding of the characteristics you display from your predominant element. This gives you insight into your own personality which can lead you to choosing a career and relationships that you will be successful in. If you know what element your personality is, then you can balance with other elements when needing to interact with a person of an incompatible element or to accommodate for certain situations. You can also know what people are good matches with you by determining their elemental make-up.

The Water Element
Magic has a basic principle that almost everything in the Universe is made up of a combination of the 4 elements: Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. Understanding the 4 elements and their characteristics allows you therefore to understand anything in the Universe. That includes your basic personality and your relationships. You can learn more about the Water element in our Magical Element Water short course, but here are some of the basic characteristics associated with the Water element:

emotions, feelings, intuition, compassion, empathy, sympathy, knowing, devotion, quest, aspiration, intention, appreciation, integrity, harmony, beauty, balance, serenity, fluidity, grief, apathy, joy, love

The Water Personality
Look over these characteristics of the Water element carefully and in relation to your own personality. Do these resonant with personality traits that you display? If you are a Water personality you are an empathetic and compassionate person. Other people often turn to you for comfort, love and assurance. You may be involved in causes that take care of others and the planet. Empaths, psychics and healers are often Water personalities. Integrity, compassion, harmony, creating balance and interacting with integrity can all be Water personality values. These type of people are appreciative of beauty and gifts in life. Since they do have a characteristic of empathy so ingrained in their personalities, Water people may find themselves getting over involved in other people's emotions and problems and often taking on their negative energies. They often become over invested in others and take on a caretaking role mistaking that for love. People of this personality type must guard against trying to save or fix everyone and everything and realize that they can better serve through modeling appreciation, gratitude and joy.

The Road to Success With a Water Element Personality
Water personalities will do well in roles in which they are empowered to use their intuitive and empathetic gifts. They need to have interaction with other people, plants, animals or spirit beings to feed their souls. They will also thrive in situations that allow them to spread their appreciation of beauty and joy. Water people need to be in situations that allow them to take good care of themselves first instead of those that insist their needs are put on a back burner in relation to a client's needs or a person's needs that they are in a significant relationship with. Successful situations also include those that allow the Water person to express who they are and stay true to their values.

The first step in relationship magic is finding out your elemental personality type. The information in this article should give you an idea as to whether you are predominantly a Water Personality type. To get a more specific typing of your elemental personality, take our Four Element Personality Test HERE and find out more about four element and mixed elemental personality types in our ebook Energy Healing for Self and Others.

Is Magic Real? You'll See It When You Believe It

As we explain in our Kindle book, Learn How To Do Witchcraft, Rituals and Spells with Your Bare Hands, the saying, "You'll see it when you believe it" quoted by such masters as Wayne Dyer is so very true when it comes to finding out is magic real. Magic is all around us, but for magic to be "real" in your life, you have to be open to it. The doubting Thomas' must put aside their contempt and suspend their disbelief long enough to try it out for themselves. Only through direct experience will one become a believer and so it should be. We never try to prove to one of these doubters or the skeptical or answer the question is magic real. Instead we invite them to try out some beginning spells and magic rituals and prove it to themselves. Our Kindle Witchcraft Spell Books series is a good place to start.

Faith or Belief Versus Experience
If you look up the word faith in the dictionary you'll find:
1. confidence or trust in a person or thing: faith in another's ability

2. belief that is not based on proof (he had faith that the hypothesis would be substantiated by fact)

In the biblical sense, faith is "the general persuasion of the mind that a certain statement is true" (dictionary.com). Basically, this means that faith is a belief that something is true whether or not there is proof. I think most people would agree with this dictionary interpretation. But for magical practitioners, faith is action. Magical practitioners have to have direct experience or have observed it for themselves to believe it is true. Until that happens, everything is still in the hypothesis stage.

So if "you'll see it when you believe it" and as a magical practitioner "you have to see it to believe it", what do you do to make these two statements work for you? Simple, you take action. Pick any beginner spells or magic rituals (you'll find plenty on our blog) and do one. In fact, do it daily for 40 days, keeping an open mind without placing judgment on it as to whether magic is real or not. During that 40 days, see for yourself what effect the spell or magic ritual has on your life. Ask the Universe for signs and guidance along the way and determine what is true for you and what is not. That will give you the data you need to determine whether something is true or worthy of your "faith".

Magical Payback
Whatever you pay into your magical practice pays you back... with interest! At the end of your 40 days, whether you decide the spell or magic ritual you have performed daily is worthy of your faith and belief or not, you will have paid into your magical practice... and your practice will eventually pay you back, regardless of whether you decide to have faith in that particular magical ritual or not. The Universe is ultimately fair and a great keeper of accounts. Magical acts are any acts of intention and are recorded in the Akashic records. Any magical acts you perform will pay you back, perhaps when you least expect it.

So what do you have to lose except maybe a little time over the next 40 days and a bit of skepticism? And just think, if there really is real magic, all you have to gain by exploring it for yourself and deciding to believe.

The Magic of Silence

If you continually find yourself surrounded and bombared by the noisy, hustle and bustle of everyday life, maybe you need a little magic of silence in your life. To be effective at any magical practice and to be in a mode to receive information from Spirit helpers and the Universe you have to be able to listen and make a connection from Spirit. With all the noise and rushing around trying to get through our daily to-do lists, we often forget to listen and shut down our ability to hear our inner voices of guidance.

Practicing the Magic of Outer Silence
Practicing inner and outer silence can increase and develop your ability to hear the Universe and its messages. Outer silence is usually easier initially for people to achieve. You can do this through exercises such as picking a segment of your day, maybe 2 hours, that you choose to be silent; in other words a time when you choose to not talk at all. If being at work or school prohibits your being silent for that long a period, then pick a time on the weekend or a day off. Try to avoid surrounding yourself with too much noise from other sources during this time also. For example, don't have a radio or TV on. You can still go about doing chores or just sit quietly, meditate or read an uplifting book. Maintaining silence gives you more of a chance to actively listen or watch for messages from the Universe.

Practicing the Magic of Inner Silence
If you absolutely cannot work the practice of outer silence into your day, you can work on inner silence instead on that day. This means quieting the internal mind chatter that we have so much of the time. As you go through your day take notice of the type of thoughts that go through your mind triggered by what you see and hear and how many of those thoughts you have. As you notice one of these thoughts popping up, begin to quiet the stream of thought by putting your attention on your breathing or a physical sensation such as your feet striking the ground as you walk. Anytime a thought comes up mechanically, put your attention back on a physical sensation. Consistent practice of this exercise will allow you to begin taking control of quieting your internal chatter quickly which opens space for you to listen to your inner voice of guidance.

As you practice inner and outer silence, you will begin to notice that these two forms of silence influence each other. The more silent you become on the outside, the more silent you'll become on the inside and vice versa. When you let the magic of silence into your life, you allow Spirit to guide your life and open yourself to partnering with the Universe to bring all sorts of magic into your life. Find out other ways to bring more magic into your life with our free ebook 10 Magic Quick Fixes for Your Life.

Relationship Blues? Magical Elements Could be the Solution!

We all know that our personalities play a major role in how we deal with other people and how we handle life situations. You may have even taken one or more personality tests to better your personality type.

Did you know that there is a magical personality test as well? You can get the test by clicking the link BELOW.

Magical Elements Personality Test

This test tells which of the four magical elements--Air, Fire, Water, and Earth--dominate your personality. But here's the real kicker. Depending on your magical elemental personality and that of another person close to you, you may be destined to constantly have relationship problems unless you take the time to understand the specific needs communication styles of each type.

We will delve into each type later. For now, download test, score yourself, and enjoy! Many people end up with two magical elements being equally dominant, which is perfectly normal! How to Bless Yourself and Your Family for Harmony

Here is a ritual that will give you a way of how to bless yourself and your family. This ritual is most appropriate done at the end of each day before bedtime to create magic, peace, harmony and health as well as a closer connection between family members. It can also be done with just yourself, with couples or with you and your pets. This is one of the rituals you'll find in our third Kindle book, Learn How to Do Witchcraft Rituals and Spells with Magical Tools. And how it's done.

How to Bless Yourself and Your Family
1. Sit in the South, facing North. Gather and place materials in front of you. You will need:
  • Sun Yellow candle
  • Paper or wooden matches
  • Chalice
  • Sea Salt
  • Spring Water
2. Charge your Sun Candle:
  • Light a sun yellow candle with paper or wooden matches (do not use a lighter)
  • Wait until you have a steady candle flame
  • Cup your hands around the flame, focusing your attention on the candle and flame
  • Say this verse in a voice of command to charge the candle:
"Child of Wonder,
Child of Flame,
Nourish Our Spirits,
And Protect Our Aim."
(if performing ritual on yourself change to Nourish My Spirit and Protect My Aim).

3. Fill the Chalice halfway with spring water, and sprinkle in some sea salt.

4. Blow Water Blue (bright blue) energy into the Chalice as you swirl the water clockwise.

5. Blow Water Blue into the Chalice and swirl the water clockwise before and after saying the verse below and between saying each line of the verse:
"Water and Earth where you are cast,
Let no spell nor adverse purpose last,
Not in accord with me!
Bless these people and bless their space,
Far from here send baneful trace,
Thus my will, so it be!"
(If you are doing this ritual alone, you can change the fourth line to "Bless this person and bless my space.)

6. Holding the Chalice in your left hand, face the person you are blessing (unless you are blessing yourself).

7. Dip the index finger of your right hand into the water, and draw a vertical line down the center of the person's forehead (or on your own). The line should be 1 – 1 ½ inches long.

8. Draw a horizontal line of the same length from left to right through the center of the first line, forming a cross.

9. Draw a clockwise circle starting at the right end of the horizontal line and touching both ends of both lines. As you draw the circle, say to the person, "For the peace of your mind." (If you're doing the ritual alone say "For the peace of my mind.")

10. Repeat the same procedure on the person's chest (or your own), over the heart. As you draw the circle, say, "for the joy of your heart." (Substitute the words "my heart" if you are doing it alone.)

11. Ask the person to take a sip of water from the Chalice and as they do this, say, "And for the health of your body." (If you're doing it alone take a sip and say "And for the health of my body".)

12. If there are two people participating in the ritual, reverse roles have the person that was just blessed now do the blessing to their partner by repeating the process. If there are many people involved in the ritual, one person can bless everyone, and then one person in the group can bless the first person.

13. You can also use the alternate verses, "For the health of your mind." And "For the health of your Spirit".

In addition to being of way of how to bless yourself and your family, this ritual can be useful for giving you a lift when you are down in the dumps or bring you peace when you can't get to sleep. We hope you find the joy, peace and harmony this ancient blessing ritual can bring you and your family by inviting magic into your lives.

Magic That Works: The Use of Color

One of the fascinating studies of magic that works is how to use colors magically. Each of us are energetic beings in a constant state of vibration which is partly determined by the vibrations of all the colors surrounding us all the time. Each color has its own unique vibration and knowing the principles of those allows us to use them for magic that works in our everyday lives. Feng Shui, Pranamonics, magical practices and shamanism all have techniques that use color for healing, making spirit connections, balancing mood and emotional states, and creating manifestations.

Using Color for Magic That Works
You can use color intentionally in your life by gaining an understanding of the effects each color can produce and deliberately choosing which to have around you. Take a look at your clothes, the food you eat, the walls and floors in your home or office, your car, your furniture, artwork and paintings you have hung in the spaces you spend time in, the makeup, jewelry and nail polish you wear and anything else with color that you spend a lot of time around. Compare what vibrations these colors bring to your life versus what energies you want to attract into your life. If you are surrounding yourself with colors that don't match what you want to attract or how you want to present yourself, then make some changes in your wardrobe or environment to include colors that will bring you the type of energies you want. Here is a list of some colors with some of the characteristics of the vibration they emit to get you started. You can find more information on using colors as a technique of magic that works and more color vibration characteristics in our Energy Healing for Self and Others ebook.

Color Vibrations
White – emits a very high vibration that is a pure frequency spiritually. All other colors and the healing properties of each exist in the color white. You can strengthen and increase your aura 3 to 9 feet just by wearing white. White is an Air element color that corresponds to mental processes, thinking or speaking. So for example if you need to study for a test, you might wear white clothes or study in a room with white walls to give you a mental boost. Knowing that the color white could aid you in studying, or giving a speech gives you a way to employ magic that works for your benefit.

Violet/Blue and Green – are vital colors in order for life to exist according to Pranamonics. Violet/blue represent the heavens and green the earth. In a life-threatening situation, surrounding yourself with these colors could give you the first aid needed to survive.

Sun Yellow – is a fire color that represents life force and spirit vitality. Wearing sun yellow clothes can give you a boost in joy, enthusiasm, vitality, movement and nourish you on a cellular level. It is another good color to have around you in a life-threatening situation.

Rose – is a mix of bright red and white. This is a very nourishing color for your heart center and associated with love and purity. It vibrates at a very high spiritually evolved frequency. Pranamonics often pairs white or Sun Yellow with Rose.

Match Colors with Your Elemental Makeup
By deliberately choosing the colors you surround yourself with, you can use this type of magic that works to transform your personality and how you perceive the world. In deciding the colors to use, you need to also consider your own elemental makeup. Most people's personalities have one or two of the 4 elements that are most dominant. Being aware of what elemental colors exist already in your makeup can then help you select which colors to surround yourself with to add them into your vibration thus achieving the personality changes you want. For example, if your makeup is mostly Fire with small amounts of air, water and earth, then you are usually in action, don't spend much time tuning in to your emotions and feelings, and don't usually slow down to think. People may have a hard time communicating with you because you move so fast that you don't even finish your sentences. Tarot Meanings: The Magician versus the High Priestess

Whatever way you use Tarot cards, you have to have some knowledge and experience of the tarot meanings for each card. People often ask us what the difference is in the tarot meanings of the Magician card and the High Priestess card. This is a good question as both can represent a magical person. But there subtle differences and knowing the tarot meanings of each card can help you select which one is appropriate to use as a signifier in a reading or how to interpret it in a spread or just as a card individually selected from the stack. You can find full details of the tarot meanings of all the cards in our Tarot homestudy course, but here are a few differences in The Magician card and the High Priestess card to consider and get you started.

The Magician
This card is all about high level magic of the "hard magic" variety as opposed to "soft magic" which is more of the psychic or intuitive type. It would be used in the case of a person who has mastered the four elements and is able to control them by intellect and will. This is a person who practices magic and magical spells and knows the procedures well enough that he is able to produce results over and over again. If The Magician or Magi card turns up in a spread or reading, it could indicate that a spell has been done or needs to be done. That spell could even be one that has followed a person from a past lifetime. If the card shows up in a reading in a Reverse position in the past or present line, then it usually does mean there has been spell work done against them or that some inappropriate use of magic has come into play. The Magi card also carries tarot meanings for anything dealing with intentional miracle working or deliberate creation, working with magical tools, magical groups, teaching or studying magic and synchronicity.

High Priestess
The tarot meanings carried by this card can refer to a female magician or her use of magic. But it is also a women's power card and deals with intuition and religion. This card refers to subjects more on an emotional level than an intellectual level and deals more with issues of "soft magic" whereas the Magi is more appropriate for "hard magic". Other tarot meanings carried by the High Priestess card include religious social values or scripting as in the case of a religious "do-gooder" or people who pray for others without being asked for help or permission. It can be used as a signifier for a person adept in magic, especially a female, like The Magician card, depending on the person, the type of magic they practice and the skill level they are at. This is a card that would be more appropriate to use for a person coming from a religious base (whatever religion that may be) rather than from ritual magic training. It can also indicate, like the Magi, that spellwork has been done or needs to be done and can be used as a substitute for the Magi card if it is already being used in the reading in another position.

Summary
Now that you have an idea of what each card's tarot meanings are, you can see that the Magician card is a bit "higher" in the magical hierarchy. It would be used to indicate a very skilled and more formally trained magical practitioner whereas the High Priestess card is used more for someone operating in the intuitive, religious or psychic realms of magic. Both cards showing up in a reading can indicate that there is spellwork involved, either good or bad, but when the Magician card shows up reversed in the past or present line of a reading, it almost always indicates spellwork done on you or something inappropriate that magic has been used for. To decide which card to use in any given situation or to decipher tarot meanings from either of these cards that show up in a reading, this will give you an idea of the types of situations or people to look for that they could be representing.
