Magic 2013: As the World Wobbles

Have you noticed lately how things in the world are strange, funky, and otherwise just plain hinky? Maybe you are suddenly accident-prone or suffering from strange new health problems. Or maybe business has suddenly taken a funny turn. Perhaps relationships that have been solid for years are all of sudden on the fritz.

So what in the heck is going on here? After all, 2012 is over... it is supposed to be smooth sailing from here on out, right? Maybe, or maybe not.

What Didn't Happen in 2012
Contrary to many popular predictions, the world didn't end in 2012. Neither California nor Florida floated away. The South and North poles did not change positions. The Earth suffered some strange effects and disasters, but nothing compared to a true pole shift.

Instead, the people on the planet are the ones who experienced the pole shift--some more dramatically than others. For some of this, our true North suddenly became South. I saw this happen in my wife's life. She has been dedicated to the art of horsemanship since the age of four. She would ride any horse, nag, pony, or wild beast offered to her. Her dream was to eventually jump a horse in double clear rounds at the Grand Prix level.

All good. Then she suffered a number of accidents, some on horses and some through various life events, and that desire is gone. She, an avid collector of horses and horse projects, has suddenly reduced her usual gaggle of horses to one mare. She may eventually go back to the dream of riding at the Grand Prix level, but for now, her focus has completely shifted to other goals. The Grand Prix dream, which used to be her true North, has suddenly shifted to the South pole. Just like that, in the snap of a finger. Boom.

So while the Earth didn't suffer a total pole shift, many people, like my wife, have suddenly found their own personal poles shifted... seemingly without any warning.

What's Happening with Magic 2013?
So if you are a practitioner of the magical arts, how do you make sense of the hinky happenings this year? If you have experienced your own pole shift--or even series of pole shifts--how do you cope? What kind of magic can you do to lessen the impact on your life?

Well, first let's take a look at what's going this year. I would best describe the planetary happenings with the phrase, "As the world wobbles." This is partly, of course, a play on the daytime soap opera "As The World Turns."

The world is certainly still turning in orbit, thank goodness, but there's a very slight wobble going on as the planet circles around in that orbit. A slight wobble you say? Not a major wobble? Yes, a slight wobble. For the planet, the wobble is very slight, but for us humans, every tiny tremor in the planet can be felt as a major life shift, or perhaps as a continuous chain of minor inconveniences that stack up into a major headache.

For instance, one person reports a chain of small events that has stacked up into a major debt: a car malfunction, a not-too-major health issue, a tiff with a client, a sick pet, and minor house repair. Taken separately, these issues are not major, and this person would easily be able to handle them. But the problem is that they all occurred in a span of two weeks. Compressed into that time frame, this person is about to pull his hair out (what little hair is left, that is!). Now that is an example of the world experiencing a tiny wobble as it circles the sun.

In the other instance, a person can feel the world wobbling as a single major event that absolutely changes North and South poles, as discussed above. In the cases of these personal pole shifts, the severity can range from a lifetime interest in something simply disappearing to a life-threatening illness that leaves one teetering on the edge of life and death.

So what's a person to do as the world wobbles? Let's take a look at what kinds of magic are most beneficial in 2013.

How to Use Magic 2013
As you may have already figured out, Magic 2013 is about expecting the unexpected. That means being prepared, and having your magical toolbox fully stocked and ready to go at all times.

Next, adaptation is key. We have a phrase that we use often in our school (thanks to my teacher George Dew) called "cut and fit." Cut and fit is exactly what it sounds like. It means that you have to be able to look at the situation in front of you, rummage around in your magical toolbox, and come up with the right combination of tools that will solve the problem. The key is that the tools you use may or may not have originally been intended for the purpose to which you are now applying them. Nope. Magic 2013 calls for creativity, ingenuity, and the ability to shape your knowledge and experience in new ways to fit the new world--and its wobbles.

Then there's your perspective as you look at your life and any new situations that may have cropped up. You may need to adopt some new "rules" or paradigms in your life to cope with the strange events that appear. Here are some examples that may help:
  • There are no wrong decisions
  • Life is just an experiment so there are no "wrong" answers – you are just gathering data.
  • Hinky stuff is happening to everyone so at least you're not alone
  • Life on planet Earth is pretty messy right now, so just clean up as best you can and then do something that makes you feel good
  • You get to make up the rules to your own life, so now is a good time to start thinking about which life rules you might want to discard, and which new rules you might want to create

Sound good? Need more help? Check out our selection of ebooks and homestudy courses or Kindle books for specific ideas on how you can deal with your life as the world wobbles!

How Magic Spells Can Be Useful in Life

Here's an example of how magic spells can help you out in your everyday life. This situation happened many years back, I believe sometime around 1990. Being a doctor of Chinese medicine, I was concerned when I heard that a Senator had proposed a bill that would cause all herbs (including Chinese herbs), supplements, vitamins and other such products to fall under the regulation of the FDA. I could envision various scenarios resulting from this type of bill that would be detrimental to businesses that deal in these type of products including a possible requirement of having a prescription from an M.D. Since the majority of M.D.'s at this time did not believe nutritional supplements to be helpful, that would keep many people who receive benefit from these products from getting them. From what I had heard, the bill had passed the Senate and was on its way to the house where it seemed like it had majority support and would pass.

I decided to use a magic spell to kill the bill. And I decided I would use a Tarot magic spell. This was my first room-sized tarot spell. I needed an entire room to do the candle and matrix setup as it required a great amount of force. Tarot magic spells of this size can be quite difficult to balance because you are actually walking inside the matrix. I in fact did get off balance at one point, became quite dizzy and had to put it out and start over.

For those of you not familiar with how Tarot magic spells work, you have to first do a Tarot reading on the original condition. Then using the law that states a small change in the present can lead to a bigger change in the present, you decide on a small change or changes that you can make. You then do one or more Tarot readings on your proposed changes to see what effect they will have. Once you find a change that your reading shows will give you the effect you want, you write the magic spell verses around it. At this point, even those of you familiar with the Tarot may be somewhat confused. My understanding is that the way we do Tarot readings at the Esoteric School is not common practice by others. When we do Tarot readings, we use a signifier card or cards. The base signifier card represents the overall situation and the 2nd card placed across the bottom of the base card represents the particulars of the situation. This allows us to get very specific readings on events.

As you can probably tell, Tarot magic spells do require quite a bit of time and effort. The results however are well worth it. In this instance, on the day of the vote for this proposed bill, the Senator that introduced the bill withdrew it before time for the vote begin. Did my magic spell bring this about? I say yes it certainly did. What do you say?

Earth's Atmosphere Gets Some Help from Magic Spells

I continue to share magic spells I have created and performed to help heal the planet. This particular one concentrated on removing excess carbon monoxide from the Earth's atmosphere. I used simulacra magic for this magic spell, sometimes referred to as Voodoo magic.

I have been concerned for quite some time about the build-up of carbon monoxide, specifically over the last 20 years, in our atmosphere. According to various sources I researched, in 2009 the global average concentration was 387 parts per million and by 2012 and 2013 readings of CO2 showed these numbers increasing to 400 parts per million, the highest in the Earth's history. We can all do much to decrease our use of fossil fuels and help with this problem. But those of us in the magical community can do more using magic spells.

Here's what I've done. I set up a keyed plate (magical tool for Earth element) with a small round simulacrum of the Earth. Also in my set-up on the plate is a pendant of a crescent moon and a funnel with one side coming off the Earth object and pointing towards the moon pendant. This design is intended to remove not only carbon monoxide, but also 40 poisonous chemicals from the Earth's atmosphere and send it to the moon. Since the moon is building its own atmosphere, these chemicals that are harmful to our atmosphere and the destruction of the ozone layer, will be helpful there. I then launched the spell reading the verses, placed the written verses on the plate and covered the plate with a keyed chalice (magical tool for Water element). Of course this is not a "quick fix" magic spell. Spells on the world level especially cleaning up "messes" can take time and this one is ongoing since any CO2 funneled out is quickly replaced by societies so dependent on fossil fuels.

If you are already following a magical practice, I encourage you to also use your magical abilities to help heal the planet with magic spells. If you do not have a magical practice, it's never too late to start developing one. We have plenty of resources on our website to help you get started. At the very least, find one intentional act you can personally do to reduce your use of fossil fuel and do it. Your one intentional act becomes an act of power and of magic and it adds to the healing energy. Together, through magic, we CAN heal the planet.

Magic To Heal the Planet

Through our school, we have done so many spells and magical procedures to work on different aspects of healing the planet and I am having so much fun re-living past spells performed, that I want to share a few more with you all. This one was quite intense and should only be performed only by a practitioner with a lot of experience. It happened not too long ago and you may even remember stories reported in the media about 2 large bodies (reported by some to be comets and as asteroids) that were discovered as they passed between the Moon and the Sun. They were reported to be the force behind a large earthquake or tsunami in Japan that did quite a bit of damage. The course projected for these objects indicated that they would hit the Earth and major damage would result. Here is how I dealt with this situation.

My research showed that these two bodies were Blue Star Kachina and Red Star Kachina. I called upon an ancient Navajo archetype, Monster Slayer to help. I constructed an anchor for the archetype using a large obsidian hatchet and spear. In a full cast circle with a doorway cut in, I used the magical tool, the black mirror, and pulled this archetype out of the spirit world and set it on the anchor. Verses had been written ahead of time enlisting Monster Slayer's help in the destruction of these two bodies. After anchoring the archetype on the spear and hatchet setup, I went outside through the doorway in the full cast circle with the spear at night. As my partner read the verses, I held the spear upon my shoulder and then threw the spear up into the night sky. We saw what looked like a large streak of ravens taking off from it.

It took three days for these bodies to be destroyed. We first heard a report that the Blue Star Kachina being tracked by scientists just disappeared. The Red Star Kachina was then reported to break up into pieces, most of which went off into space harmlessly. One large piece did come into our atmosphere leaving a visible trail seen by many people reported to be about 6 feet wide. It came down in the southern part of the United States but no damage was done.

With all our planet gives to us, isn't it time to give some back? Even if you aren't at a magical level to be able to work with archetypes such as Monster Slayer and destroy potentially disastrous threats, you can do your part to magically heal the planet. Something as simple as picking up trash in a park or consciously making an effort to recycle can all help heal the planet. Remember any act done with intention is a magical act. So set your intention to do something to heal the planet and join us along with all the other magical people striving to give back to Earth Mother.

In Magic,
Alan, aka RavenWindStar

Magic Spells: Healing on a World Level

No one can deny that there is a lot of healing that would be helpful in our current world situation in many areas and as magical practitioners, we know magic spells can help with this healing. People are often overwhelmed at all they see and feel needs changing in the world and wonder if magic spells can help and if so, then why aren't we doing something to "fix" things. The simple answer to this is yes, magic spells can help and we are doing something about it. There are so many directions this could lead from political unrest, and war to planetary changes such as global warming to hunger and disease and the list goes on. With such a long list, we must prioritize however. It's not like with real magic, we can just wave a magic wand and have everything change at once. Whereas we are sure there are others who practice magic that are also involved in world level magic spells, there is still a lot to do. We do feel an obligation to use our knowledge for a higher good, do pick out particular issues to work on and would like to share with you one of the projects our school founders have embarked on.

Simulacra or VooDoo Magic
This is a World level spell created to clear all our oceans, seas, rivers, lakes and streams of pollution. It is ongoing and was created using simulacra magic. Some refer to this as Voodoo and you can learn more about it in our How To Do Voodoo ebook. Basically this type of magic involves using an object that is a likeness of something else, keying that object to what you want to have an effect upon or who you want to have an effect upon and then whatever you do to the simulacrum also affects the person or thing. According to the Law of Similarity, the greater the likeness between a simulacrum and that to which the simulacrum is keyed, the greater the psychic connection will be.

Setting Up The Spell
For this particular spell, here is the simulacra that were set up. First a fountain in the shape of a clam shell was used. It is a bluish-gray color. Where the water flows out of the fountain is a pair of dolphins. The fountain was put through a 4 Element cleansing and it was keyed. It was then placed on a stand that has staggered tiers. On a lower tier, a globe of the Earth on a wooden base was placed (it too being subjected to a cleansing of course). All of this was then placed on a sun yellow colored square plate. The plate was keyed in the way that you would for a plate being used as the tool associated with the element Earth. Rounded glass-like pebbles collected on a beach were placed on an 18 by 2 inch stick which was placed East to West just under the globe. Those of you involved with magical practices will be aware of some of the planning that went into this setup in terms of colors used, materials used and symbols to bring in various elemental influences.

The next step involved filling a one ounce dropper bottle with bleach. This is was chosen because bleach prevents algae build up in the fountain. The liquid in the bottle was labeled as "Ocean, Sea, Lake, River, Stream Cleansing Agent". The bottle was put on a plate (the tool for the Earth element) and the bottle keyed. Verses were written that included a set time for the spell to work, pulled and gathered energy from the Old Ones, the Winds, other beings in the Hierarchy and all those who care about the health and vitality of our waters.

Every day, the fountain is topped off with water and a dropper full of the cleansing solution simulacrum is added. This spell is ongoing and is granted an ambitious one. It is one of the many spells we have undertaken to help heal the planet. Presented here is of course an abbreviated version of all that was entailed in the designing and implementation of this spell just to give you an idea of how simulacra or VooDoo magic works. There are other steps from creating directors and limiters, checking things out with Tarot readings to consulting higher powers and revising spell verses, that also have to occur in the process. It is a lot of work, but one that we find rewarding and that we feel is important.

This is just one of the many projects we have undertaken as magical practitioners to help in healing the planet. Now it's our turn to ask you, what are you doing?

How to Learn Magic: Free Online Tutorial

Since magic doesn't just come naturally to many people and since there are so many magical topics that can be studied, we offer a free online tutorial on how to learn magic. Magic is a study of using intention and a system of creation as well as a precision science – the science of:
  • deliberate creation
  • effective prayer
  • manifesting Higher Will
  • heightened awareness
  • selective perception
  • dynamic, harmonious relationships
In deciding how to learn magic, you must be familiar with how Universal Law works and the Rules of the Road (laws that govern magical practice). Magical practice also requires an understanding of the 4 elements of Air, Fire, Water and Earth. Other basic topics include:
  • Hand magic
  • Magical self defense
  • Using the magical tools – firebowl, wand, athame, chalice and plate
  • Divination
  • Tarot
  • Sonics
  • Spellwork
These are all basics that one must learn before continuing magical study. From there, many topics are available from healing to creating and performing rituals and communicating with higher powers and beings. Magic opens you up to a new way of living and takes you on a path of spiritual growth. It becomes a way of life as well as a study of all the various magical topics that can be explored according to your interests. For example, if you are interested in healing work, you can study using magical tools with the 4 elements for healing then perhaps move on to studying the use of crystals in healing, learn how to do long-distance healing techniques or learn how to make your own plant based tinctures. As you learn these various techniques and follow your magical passions, you also learn more about yourself, deliberate creation and how to manifest that which you desire in your life.

The first step towards all of this is deciding that you want to start living a magical life and finding out how to learn magic. Take a look at our free tutorial and see if that helps you to get started. You can also join our mailing lists to get our latest posts and see what topics we cover that resonate with you. If you already know of a specific interest that you haven't seen us cover, leave us a comment on Facebook suggesting a topic you'd like to see written about. Any act of intention is a magical act, so set your intention to explore how to learn magic and you will be on your way to a magical way of life.

Tarot Card Meanings: Is the Devil Really the Devil?

If you have never explored the Tarot, you may have an advantage over those who have read books and other sources to get tarot card meanings. Memorizing tarot card meanings in a way defies the tradition since the Tarot was originally an oral tradition. It's OK to look at written meanings as a guide to get you started understanding tarot card meanings, but it is best to get meaning from looking at the symbols within each card itself and work towards seeing the meaning of the cards as they pertain to each individual reading. There are also many different Tarot decks available. In our Tarot Homestudy Course and Basic Magic courses, we have students get the Waite-Rider deck and this is our preferred deck for too many reasons to go into in this article. We also have students key their decks as that personalizes the deck to their own energies.

Basics When Looking at Tarot Card Meanings
There are two types of cards in the Tarot deck: Major Arcana and Minor Arcana cards. The Minor Arcana cards are in suits: Wands, Swords, Cups and Discs and are numbered Ace through 10, and the court cards Page, Knight, Queen and King. The Major Arcana cards are all the other cards and have a relationship to the suits, but are not tied to a specific suit. Major Arcana cards represent principles, concepts or ideals. Minor Arcana cards represent the variety of ways those principles can manifest in the everyday or mundane world. The principles represented in the Major Arcana are from past ideas that our culture has not been taught. When interpreting tarot card meanings it is wise to take this into account and avoid applying present day meanings to these past time symbols. Tarot card meanings also vary according to whether the card shows up in a reading in its upright position or is what is called reversed (meaning it is upside down) and according to its position in the reading and what other cards it appears with. This is why just memorizing definitions of cards will not give you the best readings. Having a general idea of what the card represents and being able to relate those meanings to a specific reading will give you a much better interpretation or "picture" of the reading as a whole.

Let's take an example of how to think about a particular Major Arcana card (as we do in our Tarot Homestudy Course) and see examples of the principles behind the card that you can use as a guideline. Notice also how we point out symbols on the card itself and how you might apply them to the meaning when interpreting a particular reading. The Devil card is one many people are familiar with and one that is widely misused in media productions.

The Devil
The Devil card does not represent the Christian Satan or evil. It is concerned more with principles of materialism and how we handle our contracts in the material world. In the Upanisheds, ancient writings from India, we learn there are two major errors. One is to become materialistic and the other is becoming overly concerned with spiritual things thus ignoring the material. Since we as spiritual beings have chosen to be here in physical bodies we have to strive to find a balance between the spiritual and the material. How the Devil card appears in a reading and what other cards it appears with can give us information on how we are doing in this regard. It can relate to how the spiritual being is doing in handling the contracts it makes through having a physical body and in the material world. This card is a good one for long-term contracts such as a house mortgage. If the card is upright, then you are handling these types of things well. If it is reversed, then these types of issues are being mishandled either by you getting too spiritual or too materialistic. In some way the two sides are out of balance.

When looking at the card, notice the pentagram is upside down. In the upright position this signifies going from upper levels to lower. If the card was reversed or upside down the significance would change to imply something going from lower to higher. Also notice the two beings on either side of the Devil. The chains around them are loose implying that they are bound only by their own choice. It can also imply that materialism doesn't have to drag you down, that you have a choice. You can see too that he is perched on a stand and having to maintain balance. Noticing these things in the card can also give you clues as to the meaning.

As we said earlier, much of the interpretation of the card depends on the other cards in the reading and where the card falls in the reading. Here are some other guidelines to consider when looking at The Devil card in a reading:
  • How we spiritually work in the material world
  • How we create an effect in the material world as a spiritual being
  • How we are able to manifest in the material world
  • How we deal with materialism
  • How balanced are we between the spiritual and the material
  • Could be concerned with higher level contracts, those that cover a long span in our lives and hold to the Rules of the Road (Universal Laws governing magical practice)
  • Contract dealing with birth vision or spiritual contracts made before coming into body

The Devil card deals with the higher and the lower. If you were looking at something to do with a contract just on the material plane then Emperor would be the card to designate this. With the Devil card you are looking at how it affects you on the material and the spiritual planes.

As you can see from this example, just memorizing a single definition would limit your interpretation of a reading severely. Looking at the reading as a whole and considering the arrangement of the cards, looking at symbols in the cards and having a basic understanding of tarot card meanings allows you to put together a much more individualized reading specific to what signifiers you are using and to the person you are doing the reading on. To learn more about how to do Tarot card readings and about tarot card meanings, check out our Tarot course in the Esoteric School store.

Magic Spells on the World Level: Blast from the Past

When it comes to magic spells, a wise practitioner must remember the magical principle that "altered procedures produce altered results". When performing a spell or ritual it is very important that the procedures be followed exactly as written and intended. This is one of the reasons that getting spells from outside sources is not always as safe as creating your own. If you have created the spell, then you know the intentions and procedures intimately. In our Kindle book Witchcraft Spell Books series, we stress that the magic spells and rituals provided there have been tested over long periods of time and found to be safe even for beginners, but the instructions must be followed exactly to get the desired results. The first book in our Kindle book series, Learn How To Do Witchcraft Rituals And Spells With Your Bare Hands, gives some examples of how magic spells can backfire when the procedures are not followed exactly or intentions are not specifically set. Here is one story that tells the tale of extreme repercussions for magic spells where intentions are not directly set.

A World War I Story
This story is about the results of the intentions of various groups of people during World War I. According to our magical research, when the entire civilized world prayed that something would rescue Germany from the inflationary depression after World War I (because it was dragging everyone down economically) without specifying what or how, those prayers brought Hitler to power. Hitler tried twice before to take power, but failed both times.

At the same time, the Jews were fervently praying to return to the Holy Land. However, at the time the Jewish population was too large to successfully return to the Holy Land (they would have been killed off by the Arabs)--only a small population could successfully return. The Jewish prayer tied into the prayers that brought Hitler to power, and by the path of least resistance Hitler's methods reduced the Jewish population so that their prayer of returning to the Holy Land could be realized.

The Magic of Kindle
By now you hopefully know about our new Kindle book series, Witchcraft Spell Books. If not, let us get you up to speed. This series was designed to help keep magical knowledge alive and in as many hands as possible. Witchcraft and magic are very real. These practices have existed as precise sciences for thousands of years. More importantly, every single person can learn to do witchcraft and magic. We are all born with the talents and abilities that empower us to do the rituals and spells presented in these books. In the distant past, studies in witchcraft and magic were just as important as math, science, or the arts. These books in a three-part series are dedicated to spreading the knowledge of practical witchcraft and magic around the planet.

The first book in the series, Learn How to Do Witchcraft Rituals and Spells with Your Bare Hands, enables you to learn, step by step, to perform beginner rituals and spells with your bare hands. You can find it HERE. But, don't think you have to have a Kindle to take advantage of this knowledge. You can use your Smart phone or computer and still access these books by getting the Kindle app. Claim your magical birthright, get your copy now, and join the wonder filled world of magic!

Attacked? Simple and Best Self Defense Magic to Use in the Moment

This protection magic technique is one of the best self-defense tips for you to know in case of physical attack. It is just one of the techniques you'll find in our Magical Self Defense Homestudy Course. Basically it entails making your body into an energetic lightning rod and sending back an attacker's own energy, thus using another's energy against them.

For most people, the most usual reaction to being physically attacked is to tense up and/or to fight. But with this protection magic technique it is better to go limp. This allows you to pull energy from your attacker, store it briefly and send it back to him/her in a single blast to a particular targeted area. The energy you are pulling from the attacker will be mostly, if not completely, fire energy. Using your body to pull in his/her excess fire energy, you become a lightning rod. This technique can be lethal to your attacker, so be sure before using it that you are in accordance with Rules of the Road. If you are, then here's how to proceed with being a lightning rod.
1. When grabbed or attacked, don't resist. Instead go limp so as not to waste your own force.

2. Pull energy from your attacker into your own body as quickly as you can. This will be easy to do in most cases since the attacker will more than likely be radiating a large amount of fire energy, probably red-orange and/or yellow-orange. Their energy will be obvious through their anger, fear or other negative energies so you won't have to work very hard to access it and you will be able to deplete their supply of energy very quickly.

3. Store up the energy you pull from the attacker in your body and add it to your own red-orange fire energy from anger, fear, rage, or pain.

4. Keep pulling the attacker's energy until you see him/her go limp or relax. At this point flow all the energy you have stored into your output hand.

5. Now send all the stored energy to your attacker by tapping one or two fingers of your output hand on his/her forehead, between the eyes, on the throat or over the heart while you are flowing all the stored energy out those fingers.

Delivering this amount of energy at one targeted area to another person can be lethal, but is a good form of protection magic to get you out of a dangerous situation. You don't need magical tools, any preparation or any set-up to do this technique and it can very possibly save your life. Hopefully this is not a technique you will need often, but to be ready you can practice taking in energy and flowing it out at a specific target by using a candle and watching for the flame to move as you "shoot" energy out your output hand fingers. Keeping your skills sharp will make sure you are ready if the need should arise to use this type of protection magic. To learn more protection magic and techniques for magical self-defense, see our Magical Self Defense course.

Has Your Magic Failed Because of the Inconvenience Factor?

The inconvenience factor is something we definitely see students struggle with at some point as they start down a magical path and it often makes them think their magic failed. Being aware of this phenomena when you start practicing magic allows you to see that it is not that magic failed, what is really happening and be able to make an informed decision as to how you want to proceed. In our new Kindle book, LEARN HOW TO DO WITCHCRAFT RITUALS AND SPELLS WITH YOUR BARE HANDS, this is one of the principles we talk about.

Magic takes time and at some point you may find that taking the time to study and to do rituals and spells will be inconvenient. You may already have a busy life with work, family, school, social engagements and so forth and will need to make many small changes and possibly some radical ones in your life to make the time available for your new magical and spiritual practice.

When first starting a practice, most students are excited and are at a place in life where learning magic that works is a priority. Then life circumstances change. It may be that work hours become increased or unexpected travel pops up or maybe family obligations that need your attention intervene. Whatever comes up, suddenly it all becomes too much to do it all. This is the point where many students either drop classes or just start giving a minimal amount of time to their practice. As in anything else you want to be good at, magic needs to be practiced. Just giving a halfhearted attempt at a magical practice can often lead to procedures that don't work and that look like the magic failed.

For those students who push their way through the inconvenience factor and continue to make magic a priority in their lives, they find their lives benefit and are improved. Each person must make the choice for themselves whether their magical practice or convenience is the priority. These inconvenient conditions are temporary and will fade away over time. As magic is practiced and becomes more familiar, it is easier to integrate into one's life. Just like having a new baby at first can create massive change in one's life and make it seem like there isn't enough time in the day, a routine soon develops as the baby is integrated into the family and new routines are established. Adopting a magical way of life can become second nature after a period of time and fit smoothly into each day. Those who are able to reach this level find that magic can greatly reduce their struggles and increase the joy they experience in the long run.

Initially as you begin down the path towards becoming a magical practitioner you will be straddling two worlds – mundane and magical. Sometimes you will choose mundane convenience and sometimes you will choose your magical practice. As you continue, you will find your intention grows in strength and force which results in the two worlds diverging more and more. At some point you will have to make a choice between the two worlds by deciding which world is a priority for you.

When that point is reached, we have observed over the last 30 years of teaching that students who forge through the inconvenience factor and continue to devote the time to their magical practices are able to more easily integrate their new magical and spiritual practice into daily life than those who choose the convenience of ordinary life thinking they will come back to their magical practice later when life settles down or they have more time. There seems to be a small window of opportunity for students to make this decision. Those who choose to try to develop a practice after this window has closed can still do so, but find the resistance is much greater. So when you come to the point of deciding whether to continue on your magical path or stop to attend to mundane life issues, just remember the window of opportunity before choosing.

How to Use Your Fridge as a Magic Tool

Most people have heard of a magic tool such as the Wand and wizard's staff and maybe you are even familiar with the magic tool of the athame or plate or chalice. But did you know that you can find a magic tool right in your very own kitchen? Your refrigerator is a great magic tool because it is an electrical ground or conduit. That means it can ground out excess fire energies that are physical or psychic. Pain, stress, anger, inflammation, fever, headache and anxiety are all mostly fire energies. When you have these symptoms, you have an excess of some type of fire energy and you can use your refrigerator as a magic tool to ground out the excess energy.

Other electrical grounds can also be used if you are somewhere where your refrigerator isn't. An electrical outlet, light switch plate, or large appliances like a stove will also work. Just don't use smaller electrical appliances or anything with electronic components like your computer as they can't handle the excess energy and are likely to short out. If you are outside, use a telephone pole or electrical line.

Using Your Refrigerator as a Magic Tool
This technique is just one of the many simple and useful tips in our Daily Rituals for Attracting What You Want in Life ebook. Now that you understand what types of symptoms are created by an excess of fire energy and know that proper tool to use, give it a try. Here's how:

1. If you can place the area of your body where the pain, stress or inflammation is directly on the fridge then do so. For example, if you have a headache in the front of your head, place your forehead against the refrigerator. If the headache is in the back of your head, then put the back of your head against the refrigerator. If you are dealing with overall aches or stress, lie down on the floor and put your feet on the refrigerator.

2. Concentrate and put your attention on the symptom you want to get rid of. Start flowing that energy into the refrigerator thus using it as a magic tool. Fire energy flows quickly so you will only need to flow for a minute or two. Feel yourself pushing the symptom out of your body, letting it flow into the fridge.

3. Once you are finished flowing out the excess fire energy safely into the refrigerator, light a Sun Yellow candle. Put your hands over the flame (not so close that you get burned though) and feel yourself pulling in Sun Yellow energy which is a healing fire energy. This replaces the fire energy you put in the fridge so that you aren't left with too little fire energy. Another minute or two of pulling this healing energy in should be long enough.

This technique of using your fridge as a magic tool works really well for reducing almost any kind of pain or inflammation. If you find the pain getting worse after doing this procedure, you are possibly dealing with a buried unconscious issue which must be handled in a totally different way. This is rare, but if it happens, take some Rescue Remedy (available in most health food stores) and stop flowing energy.

Now you know you have your own magical tool right in your own house to help you deal with a wide variety of excess fire energy symptoms. So next time you have a headache or feel stressed or angry, give it a try and see how the magic can work for you!

How to Make Your Own Magic Wand

Probably the best known magic tool is the magic wand. Anyone who has ever seen the Wizard of Oz is familiar with Glenda the Good Witch and her magic wand, not to mention all the other fantasy type shows with characters performing all sorts of miraculous feats with a magic wand. But is there such a thing in real life as a magic wand? Yes, there is.

The Wand is the tool that is used with the element Air. You can buy a Wand online, but we prefer that you make your own and always have our Basic Magic students make their own. This way your wand is personalized to your own energies. It is made even more personalized when it is "keyed' using the firebowl. A magic wand is the magical tool that is useful for communication and any sort of mental activity. Some of the procedures that this magical tool is useful for are:
  • Healing
  • Sending messages
  • Increasing communication between people
  • Protection and self defense
  • Changing and lifting one's energy
Magical practitioners use the Wand to extend their own energies. Many of the same techniques done with a Wand can be done with bare hands, but the Wand allows the practitioner to have a longer "reach" as it can handle more Air energies than the hands can. The Wand is also a good tool for beginners to start with since it cannot do as much damage as for example the Athame which is the tool for Fire energy. The colors associated with the Air element are clear, white and sky blue. These are the only energies that should be handled with the Wand.

Making Your Own Magic Wand
Making your own magic wand is not a process that should be rushed as your magic tools are a very important part of your magical practice and choosing them is a very personal experience. Take your time selecting just the right wood from just the right source. You want to use wood from a live tree and it should be a type of wood that is oriented to handle Air energies. This means it should be lightweight and light colored. White Pine, Birch, Willow, Apsen or Yucca Stalk are all possibilities. Balsa wood is a light wood, but it is too soft, so considered the strength and hardness of the wood you select also. You may find Wands made of glass online, but these are not a good choice because they have too much Water energy. Crystal is also not a good choice because it is an infinite spectrum material which makes it hard to control. The best choice is wood from a live tree or that has recently fallen from a live tree. When taking a limb from a tree, be sure to communicate first with the tree spirit and ask permission before taking a limb. If the tree does not give permission, it may be that the spirit knows that particular limb is not a good match for you. Do not use dowels or other types of processed wood or "dead" wood. The limb you select for your magic wand should be from ¼ to 3/8 inches in diameter. That would be about as thick as your thumb or as thin as your little finger. The length should be the distance from the bend of your elbow to the base of your middle finger.

Once you have selected the limb and received permission to take it, you need to peel off the bark and sand it just enough to get a smooth, satiny finish. Then using a knife, such as one used for whittling wood, you make a point at the tip and a notch at the base. The growing end of the limb is the tip end and the base is the end that was closer to the trunk of the tree. At the base end, make a large open notch to be sure the Wand can easily draw in Air energies. That's it, you now have your own personal magic wand. When storing your Wand you will want to protect it by putting in a natural material cloth such as cotton, leather, silk or wool, and place it with the notched base pointing East and tip pointing West.

Directions for making a Wand, keying it with a firebowl, techniques for using it and lots of information about other magical tools and their uses are available in our How To Do Voodoo ebook. This is a great resource for beginners or seasoned practitioners. Magical tools will expand what you can do magically. So start the quest for your Wand and get started learning all the wonderful things you can do with the safer Air energies.

Magic Words: Guess What? You Can Make 'Em Up

Magic words can help you out during those times when you feel "off" or things aren't going right in your life and you just can't figure out why. It may be that you need to reconnect with your personal power. We all have it and no one can take it away because it is a state of being not a thing. We just sometimes forget that we have it and don't exercise it. Magic words can help in regaining this power by giving us control over ourselves and our environment.

Making Magic With Sounds
All sound is a form of energy and it can create physical, mental and emotional spiritual effects. Even sounds we can't hear like ultra-sonics and sub-sonics can have an effect on us. Sounds, like everything else in the Universe, are made up of the four elements, Air, Water, Fire, and Earth or combinations of them. The effect a sound has on you or the effect you can create on yourself, others or your environment by using them varies according to what type of elemental sounds are being employed. The basic four elements used sonically have these effects:
Air – Affects mostly the ears
Fire – Affects mostly the nerves
Water – Affects muscles and gut
Earth – Affects the bones

In addition to knowing what element a sound is you also need to know that any sound you vocalize affects you in three ways:
1. Psychically – as you impart your will and intent to create the sound
2. Physically – as your body actually produces the sound
3. Reflectively – as the sound bounces back to you from your environment

If you tell yourself anything repeatedly or with enough force, your mind takes it as truth. Vocalizing an affirmation, prayer, spell or incantation out loud means you are really giving yourself the same instruction three different times, physically, psychically, and reflectively. Now here's where the act of power comes in. This three-fold rule is true whether you say something positive or negative. Your words are powerful and have an effect on you. Do you hear yourself cutting yourself down a lot or beating yourself up? Does "Oh how stupid can I be?" or "What a goofball I am!" sound familiar. If you are saying these type of statements out loud, then no wonder your personal power is suffering. These are the magic words you are using and your mind is accepting them.

What Are Your Magic Words?
Don't worry though, you can easily turn this all around. First start paying attention to the type of magic words you use when talking about yourself. Then begin discovering the magic words or words of power that produce the results you want to see for yourself. Words of power are personalized sonics or combinations of syllables that a particular person or practitioner has discovered will produce specific and predictable results in the environment, on yourself or on others when spoken in certain ways. Some of the Deity names and holy words were created and used by shamans and priests to produce specific effects on their listeners. And here's the best part, words of power or your own special magic words don't have to be real words. As long as the sonics utilized in creating the word creates the desired effect, then you can make up your own magic words.

Acts of Power
Another way to regain your personal power is to do acts of power. This is a specific sequence of steps that goes like this:
1. Pick Your Act – Make it something simple like making a mark on a piece of paper. It should be something very simple and easy to do anywhere. The actual act is not that important, it's the fact that you have an action of some kind involved.
2. Define the Time – Define for yourself when the act will start, how long it will last and when you will be finished with it. Take the example of making a mark on the paper. You can say I will do this immediately, it will take 3 seconds and will be completed when I have marked the paper.
3. Do It - Once you've decided on an act, do it. There you have it! Simple right? You have just restored your personal power.
Practice doing acts of power regularly until the 3 steps come naturally without you having to think about them. Any act of power, no matter how small, can restore your access to personal power.

Using your personal power is one of the most magical things you can do for yourself. It helps you get control of your life and raise your level of being to a point where you are in the proper mode to receive your manifestations from the Universe.  It's simple to do, you don't need any special tools and it can be done anytime, anywhere. You can get more magical tips and techniques to regain your personal power in our ebook, Daily Rituals for Attracting What You Want in Life. To find out more about the fascinating study of magic words and using the practice of sonics, check out our online Basic Magic Class. Sonics is just one of the many magical lessons offered there. Sonics is such a powerful magical tool that Navajo healing singers use these principles to heal mental, physical, and emotional conditions using only sound through voice, rattles, flutes and drums. So remember to watch what you say and stop beating yourself up, your words are powerful and pick the magic words you need to restore yourself to power.

My Magical Healing Experience

With gratitude to the Esoteric School, my classmates and teacher, I would like to share my recent magical healing experience. As a student in the advanced magic class, I have been studying and practicing magic for about 12 years. I have had many amazing experiences and witnessed events that 15 or 20 years ago I would never have believed possible. In the Fall of 2012 our class undertook a project to pick one student at a time, address physical concerns and conditions each one had and work on those concerns through magical healing techniques.

I have used magical healing techniques on others and witnessed the positive results, but I had never found myself on the receiving end of being healed by others. When it came to my turn, I was reluctant to share my health concern as I found it a bit embarrassing. For years I have had severe trouble with my digestive system. Ok, no beating around the bush, I'll just spit it out... I am talking almost daily cramping and diarrhea attacks - between six and ten a day. I had been diagnosed many years ago with Grave's Disease, a thyroid disorder. Not knowing any better at the time, I let the doctor radiate my thyroid making it inactive. As time went on I learned how much the thyroid does and began having symptoms related to my now inactive thyroid. Over the last few years when my digestive tract problem kicked in I attributed it to being another symptom of the inactive thyroid. I found that with natural supplements and tinctures as well as a prescription medication I was able to cope fairly well with almost all the symptoms. But for the last few years the digestive tract problem just got worse. I had to cut out more and more foods and drinks from my diet to get by at all. Coffee, spicy foods, fried foods, anything from a restaurant and especially fast food restaurants all became taboo. By the time it was my turn to be the subject of our class project I had not been able to leave my house at all for about 3 weeks as I never knew when the dreaded diarrhea attack would happen. I was desperate, miserable and I couldn't get anything done what with spending so much time on the toilet. My diet at this point was basically just brown rice every meal every day as it was the only thing I could find that didn't irritate the problem. As often happens when you live a life of magic, what you need comes just when you need it. At my most desperate point, this class project came along.

So I gathered up my courage and shared my condition with my classmates and teacher. They all agreed to work on me and were very gracious about what I perceived to be an embarrassing situation. This was at the end of November 2012 and it is now April 2013. That is over 5 months of amazingly good health. I have had none of my previous symptoms including the diarrhea attacks. The tiredness, dry skin, heartburn, acid reflux, fluctuations in weight and lack of energy are all gone. And best of all I have been able to eat Mexican food, eat out with no adverse effects, eat all kinds of foods I hadn't been able to for a long time AND even drink coffee again.

It would take too long in this format to go through all the various magical healing techniques used by my classmates and teacher, but I will tell you that our class meets by teleconference because we all live in different states so all the healing was done remotely. Some of the techniques used for our magical healings included Harold McCoy type healing magic, simulacra healing magic and out of body travel. Spirit guides were involved in most cases and gave guidance also. I know that besides working on what my teacher decided was leaky gut syndrome, my thyroid was also worked on and re-activated.

Even though I have been practicing magic for many years and seen many amazing magical things, I still found myself amazed that the magical healing work done on me was so effective. I am so very grateful to my magical circle of classmates and my teacher for this gift of magic healing. Magic just never ceases to amaze me with what can be accomplished and how it is just so, well... magical!

Magic 2013: Magic 2012 is Over... What Now?

In the past year we have discussed a great deal about magic 2012--in other words, the transition into the Age of Aquarius, the renewal of the Mayan calendar, the interval represented by the year 2012.

You have probably noticed that 2012 is over... so what now? Simple, we move on to magic 2013. Magic 2013 is all about a different kind of magic, and very different from magic 2012. Before we dive in, though, let's take a quick look at the past year.

Magic 2012: A Recap
Magic 2012 is probably best described, in magical terms, as an interval. For those of you who are familiar with music or the piano keyboard, an interval is very much like the half-step between two white keys. For those not familiar with the piano keyboard, don't worry. We will explain.

Magically, an interval is a pause in the octave of time. Within this pause, much happens magically. First, it is a time of massive change (and the chaos that can often accompany such a large change). In the Tarot, this is represented by the Tower card. In terms of world change, 2012 represented the first world change in which the planet itself did not bear the effects of the change. In previous world changes, the planet suffered from Wind, Fire, Water and other massive elemental pressures. Entire species were wiped out during such changes, and poles often shifted, with North and South poles changing places. You can imagine the chaos.

The year 2012 was the first world change in which humans were the ones to bear the effects of the world change that is the inevitable result of one age ending and another beginning. Humans elected, a long time ago, to shoulder the burden as a race. In effect, we humans agreed to become a Universal "experiment" to see whether we could use this world change to evolve as a species and avoid being wiped out (as were so many species in past world changes).

Many beings from other planetary systems in the Universe were curious about the results of this experiment and came to bear witness. Some have been walking among us for a few years or a few decades. Others chose not to incarnate and are simply watching from afar.

Magic 2012: What About You?
So that is the historical perspective of magic 2012. But what about you personally? How did you handle the magic of 2012, and how did you use it?

On a personal level, magic 2012 was about seeing, exploring, and moving through our blind spots. The interval presented the perfect opportunity to make big changes in our lives. The process would have been chaotic, fraught with high emotions, and more than a little scary. But if you DID choose to make major life changes in 2012, you will find 2013 to be a major breeze!

The funny aspect of making changes in 2012 is that while it would have had major benefits for you in the coming years (2013 included), it probably looked to outsiders that you were having the worst year ever. The people we witnessed making the biggest changes and advances in their Spirit paths suffered calamities on all levels: physical, financial, emotional, and mental.

But--and this is huge--these same people also found that the calamities caused them to ask for help from all kinds of sources. The result? These people were literally buried by an avalanche of help. Angels, Spirit guides, helpful people from unexpected quarters, totems, and even some of those observers from other planetary systems all stepped up and gave help, assistance, guidance, information, clarity, and so much more. The affected people were surprised, overwhelmed, grateful, and amazed. And they built some very crucial relationships with allies on many levels.

If you were one of the people who elected to make major life changes in 2012, then you know exactly what we mean. Now, let's move on to magic 2013.

Magic 2013... What Now?
So 2013 is definitely upon us and moving at the speed of light. In case you have not noticed, time has sped up since the change in 2012. Everything is faster in this new age. You ask, and the Universe delivers--right now! So be careful how you think and for what you ask. Karma is also the other factor that has sped up. Remember that Beatles' song about "Instant Karma"? We are now living in the age of instant karma. So do try to keep your side of the street clean! You will definitely know if you have failed to do so!

What is happening to those who made major changes in 2012? We said above that life is a breeze for those people... and it is, compared to the rest of the world, that is. Those efforts made at life changes will definitely bring major benefits. However, life will continue to be inconvenient and "stuff" will still happen. The difference is that there is plenty of Universal help and support out there--you just have to ask. In addition, any magic done in 2013 will be greatly amplified and powerful. If life presents you with situations that seems crazy and impossible, look to allies and magic this year as powerful forms of recourse and adjustment.

What is happening to those who chose NOT to take advantage of the 2012 interval? It varies. For those who just want to live mechanical life as always, nothing much will change. Life may get a little more inconvenient, but since they are not really participating in the great experiment of humanity, nothing much changes for them. For those who are conscious and cultivating, change is still possible in 2013... it will just be more difficult and more painful. Part of the reason is that time has sped up in 2013, so the Universe is less forgiving, in a way, of errors in judgment. In actuality, it just means that karma comes around faster than before (not that the Universe is punishing anyone!).

If you have chosen to be spiritually conscious and find yourself coming up against some major barriers in your life, should you still attempt to make major changes in yourself and your life in 2013? Absolutely. Time is only going to keep speeding up and karma is going to keep coming around faster and faster. As inconvenient and painful as changing in 2013 may be (as compared to 2012) the benefits will still be useful.

Our advice? Ask for Universal help (angels, totems, Spirit guides) as much as possible. Look for signs of positive change and guidance everywhere (where you least expect). Do as much magic on a daily basis as possible, since we are moving out of the material world and into a much more energy-based magical world. And when life gets inconvenient and painful, practice acceptance as much as possible, realizing that this is simply the price to pay into change. The results will be definitely worth it -- hundreds of times over!

What is a Magic Spell?

What is a magic spell, indeed? We get questions all the time about magic spells, what they are, how to create them, how to cast them, and so forth. In fact, it seems to be a subject of such fascination that we have decided to write an entire series of newsletter articles about it.This series of articles will really dig into the process of creating and casting spells, and could aptly be named, "The Anatomy of a Spell"!

What is a Magic Spell: The Definition
But first ... the definition. What is a magic spell? Here is our official word on the matter:

"A spell is any psychic or magical operation that combines a number of elements (air, fire, water and earth) and/or program factors that produce a particular result over a period of time. A spell could also be defined as a formalized intention that is carried out over time until completion. We use spells when we are unable to directly affect a situation or condition, especially when dealing with complex factors or barriers which require a lot of force to overcome."

So there you have it. This gives you both a formal and an informal definition of a magical spell--a technical definition and a layman's approach of "a formalized intention." Simple, right?

The Anatomy of a Magic Spell
While the definition of a magic spell may certainly be simple--or at the very least, straightforward--the actual workings of a spell can get a little more complex. The ingredients that go into a spell can take a bit more planning and time and effort than the average Joe may think. Whilst a simple Sun Candle spell can be done with much less effort than what we are about to define in the following section, the spells that are meant to address more complex topics can require much more from the practitioner. This is appropriate as spells are like anything else in life: you get out of them what you put into them.

If we were to break down the anatomy of a spell, we might separate it into these parts:
  1. Define what is wanted
  2. Decide the type of spell to cast (for instance, single candle spell, multiple candle spell, Tarot spell, or spells using archetype technology)
  3. Convert desired outcome into Directors and Limiters (formalized statements of what the spell will and will not do)
  4. Do Tarot readings on Directors and Limiters to determine whether they and the chosen type of spell will achieve the desired outcome
  5. If the Tarot readings are not favorable, revise either Directors and Limiters or spell type or both, then lather, rinse, and repeat until the readings are favorable
  6. Design the spell's necessary ingredients, such as verses, candle carvings, Tarot changes (for Tarot spells), and chosen time to cast spell
  7. Perform Tarot readings on the above ingredients and revise until readings are favorable
  8. Prepare the spell ingredients (i.e., carve the candle or write out steps to Tarot layout changes)
  9. Cast spell at the appropriate time
  10. Perform follow-up Tarot readings at appropriate intervals to determine progress
  11. Make spell adjustments if necessary, up to and including spell take-downs (for spells gone awry)
  12. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the results of your spell!
Whew! That does sound like a bit of work, doesn't it? On the other hand, if you consider that a spell can achieve almost anything you can imagine, then the above-specified level of effort may well be worth it!

In future articles we will take each step in this anatomy of a magic spell and dig in. We will define, explore, explain, and generally give you the gist of each step so that you have an idea of what goes into a solid spell that is not only effective, but also follows the operational laws governing magical practice. So stay tuned!

Healing Magic: Simple Powerful Flower Essence Recipes

Are you ready for some healing magic to recover from the tough year 2012? If you survived the chaotic year 2012, congratulations, many people didn't and chose to leave the planet. Others had a great year, but many more had a very rough time and took a lot of physical "hits" and are now looking for magical recovery and healing magic. In our Energy Healing for Self and Others ebook, one of the topics covered is flower essences and how to make them. Here we will give you a few flower essence remedies that are helping people recover from the year 2012.

A Few Things About Flower Essences
Before looking at individual remedies, there are a few things to know about how flower essences work as healing magic. Flower essences provide emotional and transformational support, but do not have the power to change you. Only you can do that. They give support to ease the discomfort or pain that sometimes make change too difficult. Flower essences give us the use of vibrational frequencies and qualities of the plant used in making them. They are especially useful in helping to heal our non-physical or subtle bodies.

Improve Your Psychic Abilities with the Perimeter Game

Using your psychic abilities allows you to gather information that is not directly available to the five senses. Divination techniques are part of using the psychic abilities and allow us to discover influences, energies and probability lines active in our lives so that we can more accurately and knowingly exert control in our own lives. Remember though that when exploring the future it is not set or pre-destined and divination shows you the probabilities of what will happen based on the assumption that the current influences are not changed. Any change in the present will change the future. That is why divination and using our psychic abilities are so useful. Don't like what you see coming? Make a change and the future changes.

One of the exercises taught in our Psychic Development ebook that can help with increasing your psychic abilities is an exercise we call the Psychic Perimeter Game. This exercise helps develop your psychic abilities by giving you practice at shutting off one of your five senses so you can concentrate on receiving psychic information around you.

Here's how to play.
  • Set up a 10 to 20 foot energetic or psychic perimeter around yourself in a public place by closing your eyes and imagining an energy circle around you.
  • Keep your eyes closed and tell yourself to "notice" whenever someone steps inside your circle.
  • When you sense someone has entered your circle, open your eyes to confirm it.
  • When you are getting accurate results, gradually increase the size of your circle.
Going to a noisy place to practice this exercise will also help take your sense of hearing out of the equation. Don't worry if you aren't getting perfect results in the beginning. Just like when learning any new skill, developing your psychic abilities takes practice. The more you practice, the more sensitive your psychic abilities will become. One of the keys to success in developing your psychic abilities is learning to ignore the outcome. Just practice your abilities and don't worry about whether you are right or not. The "art of ignoring" or selective perception is one of the key principles in magic and in developing your psychic abilities. You are accessing information in another realm, so you have to learn to focus your attention in that realm. That takes practice, just like learning to speak a new language takes practice.

Try this exercise out for yourself, keep it light and enjoy the process. For lots more exercises on developing your psychic abilities, look for our Psychic Development ebook in the school store. There are people who are naturally gifted in the area of psychic abilities, but for most people the difference between people who are psychic and people who are not is often just a matter of practice.

How to Do Voodoo: The Tools You Will Need

In our How to Do Voodoo ebook, you will learn a lot about this esoteric branch of magic which first emerged from Africa. There are many things that voodoo magic is uniquely suited for. For example, you can use it for protection, self-defense, and to attract desired situations into your life. You can even use two voodoo dolls and a wand in a ritual to stop two gossiping people from talking to each other or do the reverse and bring two people who refuse to speak with each other back into conversation.

Voodoo dolls are what most people think of when they think about how to do voodoo. The use of voodoo dolls has become well-known in popular culture mostly through movies, books and television. Through these mediums, voodoo has quite often been portrayed as a dark, mysterious, and often morbid tradition. Actually, voodoo is simply a West African religion, also known as Vodun, Vodoun, Vodou, Vudu, and Voudou. The practices include much more than the use of dolls. They also involve circle rituals, dancing, singing, drumming, and ancestor worship. A voodoo doll is simply a simulacrum or an object that is a likeness of something. In voodoo or simulacra magic you can affect a person without being in physical contact with them by choosing an object that resembles the person and making a psychic connection between the object and the person. The Law of Similarity dictates that the greater the likeness, the greater the psychic connection, which make photographs a good choice in many instances.

Besides simulacra, there are other tools needed when learning how to do voodoo. Here is a list for the beginning practitioner.
  • firebowl with sage, pine resin, charcoal burner disks and paper or wooden matches.
  • Sun Yellow Candle
  • Wisdom and Protection candles (taper candles of Sun Yellow, white or sky blue color)
  • keyed Wand (Air Tool)
  • keyed Athame (Fire Tool)
  • keyed Chalice (Water Tool)
  • keyed Plate or Pantacle (Earth Tool)
  • keyed and well-trained pendulum
  • aluminum foil and scotch tape (for protective voodoo magic)
  • Book of Shadows (to record all your voodoo actions and spells, in case you need to take them back down)
Many of these tools you will be able to find easily or get online and are not expensive. Others you will make yourself such as with the Wand. The How To Do Voodoo ebook covers all you need to know about gathering these tools and/or making and keying them if you don't already have them, so no worries there. Learning how to do voodoo or simulacra magic can give you a variety of useful techniques and magical skills to add to your treasure chest of magical knowledge. As always, enjoy the magic!
