Maximizing the Power of Your Magic Spell: Choosing the Right Format

There are lots of people out there casting all kinds of magic spells, and experiencing various levels of success. Obviously, if you're going to cast a spell you want to maximize the power of the spell so you can achieve your goal as quickly and easily as possible. One thing many spell-casters don't consider when they choose a spell is the format of the spell, but the format of a spell has a lot to do with its power. The format of the spell should match the goal you are trying to achieve with your spell.

For instance, suppose the neighbors in the apartment next door are extremely annoying and you want to replace them with better neighbors. This is a fairly simple and direct objective so you don't want to use an overly complicated or powerful spell otherwise you might create too much effect, too quickly. If you use a powerful multi-candle spell for this situation, you might create a constant stream of people moving in and out of the apartment, with none of them staying long and all of them causing a lot of disruption with the constant moving.

On the other hand, if you used a fairly simple simulacra spell, using figurines to represent neighbors (similar to voodoo dolls), you could easily move your current neighbors to a different zip code with a map-moving spell. Then you could use a simple come-along, which features a detailed description of the neighbors you do want placed on a keyed plate under a magnet, to bring new desirable neighbors in. By using a simple and direct spell to achieve a simple objective, you would focus all of the spell's power toward a single aim (getting new neighbors) yet not overpower the situation.

If you're not sure which magic spell format to use for which situations, here's a short list of spell formats you can use as a guide.

1. Come Along
This is the most basic kind of magic spell. Write a list of what you do and don't want the spell to do (also called directors and limiters). Put it on a keyed plate under a magnet. Allow the magnet to bring the desired outcome.

2. Simulacra Magic
Use a figurine or other object (a simulacrum) to represent a person or thing. Key the simulacrum by holding the object in your dominant hand and flowing energy and thoughts about the person or object into the simulacrum. Do to the simulacrum what you want done to the person or thing. For instance, you can key an apple to a tumor and then allow the apple to rot and disintegrate so that the tumor shrinks and disintegrates, too.

3. Single Candle Spell
These magic spells involve a single carved candle, directors and limiters, and a chant. After doing divinations to ensure that all the aspects of the spell will achieve the desired effect, you carve symbols representing the desired outcome of your spell on a candle, and place the directors and limiters plus candle on a keyed plate. You launch the spell by lighting the candle and saying the chant. You may want to repeat the lighting of the candle and chanting to increase the power of the spell. Use this kind of magic spell to handle situations that have some complexity and need quite a bit of force.

4. Multiple Candle Spells
These magic spells are similar to single candle spells but involve multiple candles. Each candle is carved and is used to tackle a different aspect of the spell. Use these spells for situations that are complex and deal with multiple issues. For instance, this kind of spell is appropriate if you want to buy a piece of property. The spell can address multiple issues such as attracting the money for a down-payment, getting your loan approved, finding the right piece of property, and having your offer accepted on the property.

5. Tarot Spells
These are among the most complex magic spells and take an enormous amount of effort to construct. These spells involve the use of multiple candles and a Tarot layout. Use these spells to tackle changes at a state, national, or world level. For instance, Tarot spells have been used to stop pieces of legislation from passing or to affect global weather patterns.

Job Stress? Afraid You Won't Make it Until Retirement? No Problem... You Just Need a Little Voodoo

Can voodoo magic really give your career a boost? Yes. Voodoo magic is a form of magic that first came from Africa. Voodoo is actually a West African religion that involves circle rituals, dancing, singing, drumming, ancestor worship and yes, the voodoo doll. A voodoo doll is nothing more than a simulacrum. A simulacrum is an object that is a likeness of something or someone else. Therefore after you take a voodoo doll or other object and key it to a person or thing, whatever you do to the doll or simulacrum affects that person or thing. A simulacrum could also be a photograph, picture, figurine, symbol or Tarot cards, anything that will capture the "essence" of what or who it is you want to have an effect on.

Keying a Simulacrum
This works by making a psychic connection between the person or thing and the simulacrum. We also call this "keying" the simulacrum. According to the Law of Similarity, the greater the likeness between a simulacrum and what the simulacrum is keyed to, the greater the psychic connection will be. To key a simulacrum hold it in your dominant or "output' hand and think of everything you know about the person or thing. Continue this until it feels charged, warm, heavy or tingly or some describe it as a feeling that the simulacrum is "alive" or they felt it wiggle.

After the simulacrum is keyed, you must be very careful with it. Whatever happens to it will happen to the person or thing it is keyed to. When you have finished whatever magical procedures you want to do to the simulacrum and are ready to "unkey" it, you cut the psychic connection lines with a keyed athame (fire element tool) and throw a blast of electric blue energy at it from your athame. Some Wiccan practitioners also will bury the simulacrum in the earth for a moon cycle to complete the "unkeying" process.

A Little Voodoo for a Career Boost
Be sure that you have thought through any magical operation you attempt using on a voodoo doll or simulacrum and as always, that you are following the Rules of the Road (Universal Laws governing magical practice) to avoid any karmic backlash. A voodoo doll and other types of simulacra can be extremely useful tools for a wide variety of magical healing, protection, and communication if used appropriately.

An example of how you might give your career a boost using a simulacrum is to key a plant to your current job situation. Then take very good care of that keyed plant. As the plant grows and blooms, so will your career. Another approach might be to make a list of everything that keeps you from being happy at your current job and take something like a rock to key each item on your list to. You don't want to include people on your list, but rather connect the rocks to your resentments, fears, angers, and other negative emotions. Then you can throw the rocks into a lake or bury the rocks and allow Mother Earth to cleanse them for you (leave them buried for at least one moon cycle). If you really have a good job, but just have a few things that make it stressful or keep you dissatisfied with it, then this is a great way to unload.

How Do You Do That Voodoo That You Do?

Having an understanding of certain magical operational laws will help you in your voodoo practice. Similarity - physical likeness creates a psychic likeness and resonance, the degree of resonance being directly proportional to the degree of physical likeness.

Identity - a physical part (piece or component) remains part of and contains the psychic whole, unless special magical operations are done to alter this.

Relationship - once there has been physical contact, there is continuing psychic contact, unless special magical action is taken to break the contact.

Symbols - a symbol may be created for any object, process or other phenomenon.

Substitution - in a magical or psychic or spiritual operation a symbol may be substituted (in the operation) for any object, process or other phenomenon.

Contagion - something done to a part, a likeness or a symbol that produces a similar effect on the divided-whole, the likened or the symbolized.

Duplication - an effect created in the physical is duplicated in the psychic and an effect created in the psychic is duplicated in the physical ("As Above, So Below").

Voodoo Ain't Just About Dolls – How to Key Daily Objects to Create Voodoo Effects

You are probably familiar with the term voodoo doll and may even have some understanding of how one works. But using the magical arts of voodoo magic isn't just about dolls. One part of voodoo magic is using simulacra, such as a voodoo doll, in magical operations. Any objects that can hold an energy signature can be keyed like a voodoo doll and thus used as a simulacrum. A simulacrum is a likeness to something else. An object is keyed to represent a person or thing creating a psychic connection between the two and whatever magic operation you then do to the simulacrum also affects the person or thing. Good objects to use as simulacra include photographs, pictures, dolls, figurines, small models, lists, symbols, Tarot cards and layouts, chess pieces, or other objects made of stone, ceramic, wood or glass. If using a wooden object make sure it is fairly dense wood so that it will easily key. Plastic and rubber items do not make good simulacra as they will not key well.

Keying Simulacra
Keying simulacra is a very simple procedure. For a small object, hold it in your output hand and think about everything you know about the person or thing that you want to key the object to. You are not pulling energy from the person or thing to do this, you are just programming the object to be related to that person or thing. Continue until the object feels heavy, tingly, warm or energetically charged. Once you feel this type of change to the object it is keyed. You now must be very careful with it as whatever you do to the simulacrum will affect the person or thing it is keyed to. Even if you mean no harm, but are neglectful in what happens to the object you can receive backlash if you break Rules of the Road governing magical practice and let harm come to it. If you are doing a magical operation that requires a simulacrum too large to hold in your hand, build an energy ball and flow everything you know about the person or thing into it. Then throw the energy ball at the simulacrum to key it.

Voodoo Magic at Work
Just to give you an idea of how this type of voodoo magic is useful, here's a real life example of its use by one of our past teachers. He was being harassed by another of magical skills using a "watcher". A watcher is created by animating the body of a small insect that has died or by creating an energy matrix that looks like an insect like a fly, wasp or ant. They are useful in that they are able to penetrate protection shields and thus are able to spy or influence another. One downfall of using these is that there is often still a link from the watcher to the sender. Our teacher noticed an unusual looking fly that seemed to be following him around in his house and suspected it was a watcher. Using his magical Chalice, he was able to capture the watcher, deal with it and discover who was behind sending it. Here is the technique of capturing he used.

1. Waiting until the watcher was still, he was able to put his Chalice upside down over it, slide a thin piece of cardboard under the Chalice and turn it over so the Chalice would be upright.

2. He then taped the cardboard to the Chalice, packaged it for shipping, and had it sent on a slow boat to China.

3. Then he watched to see if it had any effect on the person he suspected had sent the watcher or on anyone else around him. If the sender had not disconnected from the watcher before it was captured in the Chalice, then whatever is done to the watcher would show up affecting the sender. The watcher in this case is the simulacrum.

4. He soon began to notice one of the people he suspected had created the watcher began to have nausea and turn green as if he was seasick over the period of several weeks.

Using the Chalice to capture the watcher allowed the teacher to discover the culprit harassing him and turn the tables on him. Needless to say the sender stopped harassing the teacher and sent no more watchers into his sacred space. This is just one simple example of using voodoo or simulacra magic for protection. It can also be used in a multitude of other ways such as for long distance healing, divination, communication, balancing energies and cutting psychic lines. When we say "Try a voodoo doll," we don't necessarily mean that you should get a voodoo doll and stick it full of pins. There are much better ways to magically use voodoo dolls. For instance, if you have a spiteful neighbor who keeps infringing on your sacred space, you can use voodoo, a specialized branch of magic, to keep your neighbors and their junky energies on their own property--literally! The Voodoo Doll
After all a voodoo doll is simply a magical simulacrum. A simulacrum is a likeness of an object, person or thing that you want to affect magically. Once you key the simulacrum to a particular person, object or thing, whatever you do to it also affects that which it is keyed to. This is very useful for doing healing and other magical work on someone who is not physically present. You can make a simulacrum or voodoo doll of that person, key it to him or her and use magical healing techniques on the doll that will work on someone across the country just like if you were doing those techniques on them with them in the same room. A voodoo doll is often used as a simulacrum for a person because according to the Law of Similarity, the greater the likeness (between a simulacra and what it is keyed to) the greater the resonance or connection. For this reason, photos and pictures of actual people also can make good simulacra. The doll just sometimes makes it easier for techniques such as those for healing because it gives you the parameters of a body with arms, legs and so forth to work on.

Using Voodoo to Diffuse Your Anger
Once you have a simulacrum picked out and have it keyed to the person that is doing something to anger you, there are several magical procedures you can do. This gives you an alternative to forming a negative reaction or getting in a physical or verbal fight with that person. One magical technique for dealing with someone harassing you or adding strife to your life is to put the simulacrum of them in your Chalice. This will confine them and you can even talk to them on a spiritual or psychic level to reason with them. You can also use a keyed Plate and Chalice to separate the two of you. To do this you will need a simulacrum for each of you, put the one of yourself inside the Chalice on the Plate and put the simulacrum for the other person on the Plate but outside the Chalice. Envision the person on the outside trying to get to the person on the inside and unable to do so with their energy bouncing off the Chalice. In the real world this will cause the person outside to leave the protected person alone.

Another magical technique is to put the simulacrum of the person that is exhibiting negative energy or doing harm to you or your sacred space under the Chalice. In this case envision their negative energies bouncing back to them inside the Chalice unable to get out into the world. If this is a person that is extremely negative or powerful you can line the Chalice with aluminum foil (shiny side facing the inside of the Chalice) and you can deal with even more extreme situations by writing verses that program the shield you've created to bounce back certain kinds of energy and only letting positive, uplifting or loving energies out.

For both these operations you can use a regular Chalice and Plate, the Water tool and the Earth tool respectively, or key a cheese dome or cake dome with a matching plate like you would a Chalice and Plate and use them. That gives you a larger tool to work with that can accommodate a larger simulacrum.

If you don't have a magical Chalice and Plate available you can use a quick shield method without them. Key your simulacrum to the person you want to affect and use your finger starting at the top of the simulacrum to start tracing a downward spiral in a clockwise motion going around the simulacrum twice. This makes a dynamic shield and starts it moving. You can also envision the unwanted behaviors or energies bouncing off this shield unable to escape into the outside world.

Magic for When Someone is Acting Like a Donkey's Butt

Can you use magic when someone is treating you badly, invading your privacy or sacred space or just rather acting like a donkey's butt? As long as you make sure you are on the right side of the Rules of the Road, the rules for magical self defense, and have done nothing to provoke the situation, then you certainly can. There are several means of self-defense magic that you can use in this matter, but using simulacra or voodoo magic is another option. You can learn more about voodoo or simulacra magic in our How to Do Voodoo ebook, but here is a technique one of our mentors used when he discovered a "watcher" had been placed in his home.

What is a Watcher?
Before getting to the voodoo technique; a little history. What exactly is a watcher? There are magical practitioners that can create energy matrices that look like insects such as flies, wasps or ants or they animate the actual bodies of small insects that have died. They use these forms because they are able to slip through your shields and omnils that you have around your home for protection. They are usually used to spy on you or influence you and are therefore called watchers. Watchers many times are thought forms that are sent by others. Since thought forms are connected to the body with a silver cord, they can be dangerous when cut. Cutting one of these cords causes it to snap back at the person and can sometimes result in death. If you suspect you may have a watcher around you, look for signs such as an insect that shows up in a place it could not have naturally gotten to, one that does not have the right numbers of legs and wings that it should naturally have, or if it travels in a straight line or follows you around the house.

Testing For a Watcher
There are a few different techniques you can use as a test to see if you do have a watcher and possibly find out who sent it. Here is the technique we promised to pass on from our mentor.

Use your Chalice, the magical tool for the Water element, to first capture the suspected watcher. The Chalice is a type of standing shield that is as effective as an omnil so anything captured in it becomes confined and isolated. When you see the suspected watcher being still, put your Chalice upside down over it. Then slide a thin cardboard piece under the Chalice and holding the cardboard over the top of the cup, turn the Chalice to an upright position. Now you have captured the watcher and can inspect it more closely through the Chalice. If you want to find out who sent it, you can do like our mentor did and tape the cardboard down over the top of the cup so that it doesn't escape, then pack it up and send it literally on a slow boat to China. Once he did this, all he had to do was look around at people he knew for signs of seasickness or nausea. Once he found the person who had these symptoms for several months, he knew that he did indeed have a watcher and exactly who had sent it. This works because the sender did not disconnect from the watcher before it was trapped and so whatever was done to the watcher had the same effect on the sender. It is like a simulacra that is keyed to a particular person or a voodoo doll. For this reason, you do need to be careful and make sure you are within your magical rights when planning what you will do to the watcher.
