How Magic Spells Can Be Useful in Life

Here's an example of how magic spells can help you out in your everyday life. This situation happened many years back, I believe sometime around 1990. Being a doctor of Chinese medicine, I was concerned when I heard that a Senator had proposed a bill that would cause all herbs (including Chinese herbs), supplements, vitamins and other such products to fall under the regulation of the FDA. I could envision various scenarios resulting from this type of bill that would be detrimental to businesses that deal in these type of products including a possible requirement of having a prescription from an M.D. Since the majority of M.D.'s at this time did not believe nutritional supplements to be helpful, that would keep many people who receive benefit from these products from getting them. From what I had heard, the bill had passed the Senate and was on its way to the house where it seemed like it had majority support and would pass.

I decided to use a magic spell to kill the bill. And I decided I would use a Tarot magic spell. This was my first room-sized tarot spell. I needed an entire room to do the candle and matrix setup as it required a great amount of force. Tarot magic spells of this size can be quite difficult to balance because you are actually walking inside the matrix. I in fact did get off balance at one point, became quite dizzy and had to put it out and start over.

For those of you not familiar with how Tarot magic spells work, you have to first do a Tarot reading on the original condition. Then using the law that states a small change in the present can lead to a bigger change in the present, you decide on a small change or changes that you can make. You then do one or more Tarot readings on your proposed changes to see what effect they will have. Once you find a change that your reading shows will give you the effect you want, you write the magic spell verses around it. At this point, even those of you familiar with the Tarot may be somewhat confused. My understanding is that the way we do Tarot readings at the Esoteric School is not common practice by others. When we do Tarot readings, we use a signifier card or cards. The base signifier card represents the overall situation and the 2nd card placed across the bottom of the base card represents the particulars of the situation. This allows us to get very specific readings on events.

As you can probably tell, Tarot magic spells do require quite a bit of time and effort. The results however are well worth it. In this instance, on the day of the vote for this proposed bill, the Senator that introduced the bill withdrew it before time for the vote begin. Did my magic spell bring this about? I say yes it certainly did. What do you say?

What is a Magic Spell?

What is a magic spell, indeed? We get questions all the time about magic spells, what they are, how to create them, how to cast them, and so forth. In fact, it seems to be a subject of such fascination that we have decided to write an entire series of newsletter articles about it.This series of articles will really dig into the process of creating and casting spells, and could aptly be named, "The Anatomy of a Spell"!

What is a Magic Spell: The Definition
But first ... the definition. What is a magic spell? Here is our official word on the matter:

"A spell is any psychic or magical operation that combines a number of elements (air, fire, water and earth) and/or program factors that produce a particular result over a period of time. A spell could also be defined as a formalized intention that is carried out over time until completion. We use spells when we are unable to directly affect a situation or condition, especially when dealing with complex factors or barriers which require a lot of force to overcome."

So there you have it. This gives you both a formal and an informal definition of a magical spell--a technical definition and a layman's approach of "a formalized intention." Simple, right?

The Anatomy of a Magic Spell
While the definition of a magic spell may certainly be simple--or at the very least, straightforward--the actual workings of a spell can get a little more complex. The ingredients that go into a spell can take a bit more planning and time and effort than the average Joe may think. Whilst a simple Sun Candle spell can be done with much less effort than what we are about to define in the following section, the spells that are meant to address more complex topics can require much more from the practitioner. This is appropriate as spells are like anything else in life: you get out of them what you put into them.

If we were to break down the anatomy of a spell, we might separate it into these parts:
  1. Define what is wanted
  2. Decide the type of spell to cast (for instance, single candle spell, multiple candle spell, Tarot spell, or spells using archetype technology)
  3. Convert desired outcome into Directors and Limiters (formalized statements of what the spell will and will not do)
  4. Do Tarot readings on Directors and Limiters to determine whether they and the chosen type of spell will achieve the desired outcome
  5. If the Tarot readings are not favorable, revise either Directors and Limiters or spell type or both, then lather, rinse, and repeat until the readings are favorable
  6. Design the spell's necessary ingredients, such as verses, candle carvings, Tarot changes (for Tarot spells), and chosen time to cast spell
  7. Perform Tarot readings on the above ingredients and revise until readings are favorable
  8. Prepare the spell ingredients (i.e., carve the candle or write out steps to Tarot layout changes)
  9. Cast spell at the appropriate time
  10. Perform follow-up Tarot readings at appropriate intervals to determine progress
  11. Make spell adjustments if necessary, up to and including spell take-downs (for spells gone awry)
  12. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the results of your spell!
Whew! That does sound like a bit of work, doesn't it? On the other hand, if you consider that a spell can achieve almost anything you can imagine, then the above-specified level of effort may well be worth it!

In future articles we will take each step in this anatomy of a magic spell and dig in. We will define, explore, explain, and generally give you the gist of each step so that you have an idea of what goes into a solid spell that is not only effective, but also follows the operational laws governing magical practice. So stay tuned!

Daily Magic Rituals – Asking for a Sign

So, say you have been doing your daily magical rituals, hiring angels and asking for certain manifestations to appear in your life. How do you know they are working. Some things you can do to question the Universe are:

  • Just ask for a sign. Say to the Universe, "Please show me a positive sign today that I can easily understand that shows me my manifestation is coming." Then be sure to stay alert and watch for the sign. There are many, many ways it could come. It will be something that is meaningful and pleasant to you usually. For example, after asking this question of the Universe at one time, I went outside on my porch and found myself surrounded by about 20 hummingbirds. They left the feeder, came from the trees and literally formed a circle around me for a few brief moments before flitting off again. I love hummingbirds and they symbolize "joy" as a totem animal, so I knew I had my sign.
  • Do a question circle with the Winds. Communicating with the beings of the 4 directions is a good way to get information. Go outside and designate a space of around 5 feet in diameter and have a pen and paper with you. Sit in the south of your designated circle facing north and light a Sun Yellow candle in front of you. Then go sit in the center of the circle facing east and write down your question or questions. Sit quietly for a few minutes thinking about your question, but just the question itself; don't think about any answers to it. Take your candle to the edge of your circle in the east direction and ask the question aloud. Then start writing everything that comes to you until no more information comes. Repeat this process then to the South, the West, and the North in that order. When you are done give thanks to the beings for their insight and blow out your candle.
  • Do a Tarot reading. Tarot readings can show you many things about your magical work. A 12-card reading will show you a past line that you can see where you have come from, then a present line (that may have the Magician card in it which shows your magic is working) and a future line that can show possible ways your manifestation will present itself. You can also ask a question about what you are trying to manifest and do a reading strictly on that question.
  • Ask for a sign when doing Day Greetings and Day Endings. When you go out in the morning to do the Navajo Beauty Way or other greetings to the four directions or Winds, to Sky Father and Earth Mother, ask them after greeting them to provide you with a sign sometime during the day. Then be sure and watch for the sign.
  • Work with Owl. The totem animal of Owl sees and knows the truth. Owl has wisdom and can see through the darkness. Ask for Owl totem to appear to you or show you a sign that your magic is working. Then be sure to look for the sign. It could be you overhear a conversation about owls, you find an owl keyring, an owl flies very near to you, or come in a multitude of similar ways.

What if you don't understand the sign or don't get a sign? It could be the sign was there and you missed it. Ask again. This time ask specifically for a sign that you will be sure to understand. It could be how you phrased the question that is the problem. Maybe your manifestation isn't materializing and you need to change the question to find out why it isn't. Like all magical work, think through your questions before continuing and make adjustments according to the responses you see. The Universe has all the answers we need, we just have to ask the right questions.
