Get Magical Answers with a Question Circle

In these uncertain times people are actively seeking answers to problems ranging from job loss to foreclosure. If you need some magical guidance from powers and beings, a question circle may be just the ticket for you.

A question circle is a magical ritual where you ask for help and guidance from the winds of the four directions. It's a simple ritual and you only need a few tools which you can pick up at your local supermarket.

Here's what you'll need: a sun yellow candle on a plate or in glass, paper or wooden matches, pen, and paper. You may also need a compass to help you figure out the cardinal directions of east, south, west, and north.

How to Do a Magical Question Circle
Once you've gathered your materials and have located the cardinal directions, light your yellow candle with your matches. Then, follow the steps below.

1) Bring your candle, pen, and paper to the east quarter of your circle. Sit facing the outside of the circle (facing east). Ask the Winds of Knowledge what you need to know about your situation, and get quite inside as you wait for the answer. Be prepared to write down everything that comes to you. Don't think about it, just write. Keep writing until you no longer receive information. Thank the Winds of Knowledge and move to the next step.

2) Move to the south, and sit facing south. Ask the Winds of Power to show you what actions you need to take for your situation. Again, write any answers that come to you. Thank the Winds of Power.

3) Move to the next quarter, in the west, and sit facing west. Ask the Winds of Feeling what emotional shifts you need to make regarding your situation. In addition, you may want to ask for spiritual enlightenment. Thank the Winds of Feeling, and then move to the next quarter.

4) Move to the north, and sit facing north. Ask the Winds of Strength how you can build a foundation for the future you want. Ask for practical guidance about your situation. Thank the Winds of Strength.

5) Finally, move back to the center of your circle and sit facing east. Read through the answers that have come to you from each direction. Slowly digest the information. You may want to repeat the question circle several times, at different times, until you get clarity on your situation.

Enjoy!

Magic 2012 – How to Look Beyond the Events

As we approach the much prophesied date of December 21, 2012 we are seeing more and more people dealing with large life events. Whether they are dealing with financial crises, major health issues, relationship breakdowns, loss of home and property, job loss, or any number of other manifestations of 2012, people are often filled with questions. They ask questions like:

Why me?
Why is life so unfair?
What do I do now?
Where do I go when I feel like I have no where to turn?

Many times these life events appear to be "bad news" and people tend to focus on the events themselves. People also tend to get stuck in the "Why me?" mode. The key to successfully navigating the events that Magic 2012 tends to throw in our lives is to look beyond the events themselves. Instead of asking questions like, "Why me?" Magic 2012 asks us to dig deeper. We need to be asking questions like, "What is the real message behind this event? What am I meant to learn from this event? In what way is this event asking me to change?"

While these life events may appear to be bad news, don't worry! The good news about Magic 2012 is that it is easier to change yourself and your life in 2012 than it will be in the future or has been in the past. If you need help getting answers or guidance try doing a question circle and asking the Universe for help.

The year 2012 is an interval year, which means that changes not possible before are now very possible. Ask the right questions and you'll get some amazing answers.

Why Does My Life Suck So Bad?

This is a question that is on the minds of many people, and while I could give you a lot of different magical or shamanic answers, the truth of the matter is that life has always sucked. Most of us just never noticed it.

Most of us have, in the past, been able to repress or ignore our frustrations about life with all kinds of other "stuff." We poured our energies into extreme sports, frantic activities, or obsessions about things that shouldn't matter on a life or death level (Little League parents going nuts comes to mind), so we have always been able to avoid the "suckiness" of our lives.

No more. Welcome to the preamble of 2012, the Dawn of the Age of Aquarius or whatever you want to call it.

2012 is Happening in Us, Really
As we head toward 2012, we've seen some major weather shifts, some man-made catastrophes, and a lot of assorted mumbo-jumbo about what might or might not happen worldwide. But in our conversations with Grandmother (also known as Mother Earth), we've come to realize that 2012 isn't going to be creating as much havoc "out there" as it is "in here," within us.

No actual pole shifts are going to happen on the planet, but a bunch of tiny pole shifts will happen in us as individuals. So what does a pole shift mean to the average human being? It means that we will no longer be able to distract ourselves from the general "suckiness" of life with extreme sports, self-medication, or other worldly goodies.

Instead, we're going to have to face the "stuff" in our lives that really bother us, and resolve those issues. There are lots of ways to do that, magically and shamanically, but at the core of the issue is a simple question:

"What the heck is bugging you?"

If you can't answer this question then 2012 is going to hit you like a ton of bricks. If you can answer this question, then 2012 is going to be a breeze.

What is Heck is Bothering You?
The answer to this question isn't about making a list of all the complaints in your life. It's about drilling down to the fundamental core, the fundamental issue, around which your life has constantly revolved, whether you know it or not.

Can you answer that question? Do you even have a clue?

If not you might try a question circle, a simple magic ritual in which you ask the Winds of the Four Directions for guidance and inspiration.

How to Figure Out If Your Magic Spell Will Work

This may seem like a "Well, duh!" title but you would be surprised at the number of people who write and launch magic spells without first figuring out whether the spell will work. My question to those folks? Why go to all the trouble to do a spell when you don't even know if it will work? It seems like a waste of time and energy.

The good news is that a little divination is all you need to figure out whether your magic spell will be effective. The type of divination you use should depend on the size and complexity of the spell you want to launch. Here are three types of divination that you can use to predict the effectiveness of your spell, listed from simplest to most complex:

1. Pendulum
2. Question Circle
3. Tarot Reading

Pendulum
For simple magic spells, you can use your pendulum to do simple "Yes/No" testing on whether your spell will be effective. You can also use your pendulum with a 1-10 scale and ask it to tell you the level of effectiveness of your spell for solving your problem. To do this, you will need to swing your pendulum over a sheet of paper with 1-10 arranged in a circle. Be sure to be clear whether 10 means least effective or most effective. Ask your pendulum to rate the effectiveness of the spell and then decide whether the spell is worth your effort.

Question Circle
With a question circle you can ask the Winds of the four directions about the effectiveness of your spell. There are a lot of ways to do question circle, but here are the basic steps:
  1. Cleanse the area by smudging or using some other method
  2. Formulate the question you will ask each direction, such as, "How effective will this spell be and what can I do to make it more effective?"
  3. Starting in the east, go to that direction and sit facing the direction. Ask the question out loud and have pen and paper ready to record the results.
Each direction will give you a different kind of answer. The east will give you thoughts, ideas, and ways to improve the lines of communication in your spell. The south will give you action steps and ways to increase the power of your spell. The west will tell you about feelings, emotions, and spiritual insight. The north will offer answers regarding the strength and perseverance of your magic spell. Using these answers you can improve your spell before launching it.

Tarot Reading
For the most complex spells a series of tarot readings always helps you determine the exact effect of your magic spell. Tarot readings, especially 12-card types, will show cause-effect flow lines. You will be able to determine exactly how the spell will work (i.e., which part of your situation will be most affected and how) and how effective it will be. If a cause-effect flow line in the reading shows very little change or a lot of resistance that cannot be overcome, you will need to change your spell to address these issues. Tarot readings are best for single and multiple candle spells that handle many complex issues. I also recommend that you do tarot readings on any symbols, chants, or litanies you are going to use in your spell.

For most spells simple divination will do the trick. A little extra planning and guidance before you launch your spell can save you the hassle of having to take down a good spell that has gone bad and prevent you from wasting your time on a spell that won't work. Good luck!
