Magic Powers: Are Yours Stuck in Park?

One of the most frequent complaints we hear from new students in our online magic school is that they don't feel that their magic powers are increasing fast enough. They definitely see some magical results, but they want to see much more magic, much faster!

Isn't that just human nature? It's never fast enough?

But that's OK. We get it. We, too, have been impatient with the expansion of our own magic powers. We understand the desire for results. So we have 3 simple tips for you if you feel your own magic powers are "stuck in park," so to speak.

Magic Powers: 3 Tips for Getting Up to Speed
Magic is all around us in the Universe, and whenever we ask for the magic to appear in our lives, it rushes to us, regardless of whether we witness the occurrence or not. Believe it or not, there are so few people who actually ask and expect to receive magic, that magical beings are literally thrilled when we ask for their assistance. So magic does happen in our lives, as fast and furious as we could ever expect (but never faster than we can handle).

So how can we see the magic happening in our lives? How do we get out of that metaphysical feeling of being "stuck in park"? Here are three very simple techniques that have worked for hundreds of our students. Try them and see what effect they have on your own magic powers.

Tip #1: Journal about Your Magic Powers
There is magic just in the act of committing thoughts, feelings, emotions, sensations, and experiences to paper. When a non-visible "thing" like a thought is made visible by being written on paper, it becomes more real, more concrete, more manifest. Have you heard the expression, "Thoughts are things, and words have wings"? Well, it's true. A thought is already a thing that exists in the magical world, as are spoken words. And when you put a thought about magic onto paper, it becomes a more real magical item. So there's definitely magic in writing about your experiences with your magical powers ... even the most minor of experiences.

But there's more magic to writing than simply making your thoughts and experiences more real. Journaling is a way to chronicle your magical journey so that you won't forget where you started, and you can re-experience the wonder of any magical doorway or threshold you have crossed simply by reading your journal. For instance, consider the magical path our students normally experience with the Navajo Beauty Way. Here's what usually happens ... Students will:
  1. Notice external events, such as a bird flying by or the sun becoming brighter
  2. Feel internal shifts, such as mood changes or a new perspective
  3. See changes in their lives over time, such as others responding differently
  4. Receive the magical gifts they have requested
  5. Begin to live a magical life, 24/7, and not simply when practicing a magical ritual
If you don't write your experiences with your magic powers in a journal, you may never notice these five transitions, from newbie to naturally magical. You won't notice that problems that have bugged you in the past no longer appear in your journal entries. You may not be aware that magical rituals that used to have "no effect" are now taken for granted as an effective and necessary part of your life.

If you DO journal, you will notice how the practice of magic moves from the awkwardness of learning new dance steps to a way of life. Magic is no longer something you do, it becomes part of who you are. Journaling is important for awareness. Just ask any healer. Almost any healer will tell you that many patients fail to notice when negative symptoms fall away. Until the healer questions the patient about some negative symptom, such as headaches, the patient may not even notice that she has not experienced any headaches since the last visit. She may simply be focused on the next "problem." The same is true with your magic powers. If you journal, and then re-read your journal on a regular basis, you will realize that your magic powers are always growing and are never stuck in park. It's just a matter of awareness.

Tip #2: Practical Daily Magical Rituals
Of course, for your magic powers to grow you need to keep magic in your life as much as possible. Daily magical rituals are a wonderful way to "walk in magic" throughout your day. Whether your daily dose of magic takes the form of a morning meditation, Day Greetings/Endings to the Winds of the Four Directions, or healing work for yourself and others, the practice of daily rituals keeps you immersed in magic. Need some tips? Check out our free ebook "10 Magical Quick Fixes" you can download at https://shamanschool.com/. You can also check out our Daily Rituals Ebook.

Tip #3: Ask for a Sign
Asking for a sign is an old standby whenever we feel a little "lost" in our magical world. Any time you need to make a decision and haven't a clue which way to go, ask for a sign. Any time you need guidance for a tricky situation, ask for a sign. And, of course, if you feel your magic powers are stagnant, ask for the Universe to show you that they are not. Use a daily ritual to ask or simply step outside and address any powers and beings with whom you have formed a relationship.

Talk to the Winds of the Four Directions. Hire an angel to bring you a sign (they work for appreciation!). Ask the Universe at large. Write your request and burn it in your Firebowl, letting the smoke carry your request to the Universe. Holding the request in mind at regular points in the day will also do the trick.

And finally, stay open. When you ask for signs and guidance, stay open to messages from the Universe. These messages come in all shapes and sizes. Random bits of conversation, a phrase in a book, a sudden insight, or simply an inner knowing. Be open to the unexpected and you will be pleasantly surprised!

Enjoy the upcoming moment of surprise and the Universe won't disappoint you!

Online Magic: Which Magical Type are You?

When students enter our online magic school, we can usually identify their magical element type right away. Even when we only have email or phone contact with our students, people are usually quite obvious when it comes to the magical elements and their personality type. The four magical elements of Air, Fire, Water, and Earth, when interpreted as a personality type, can be translated with the following types:

- TALK: This is the Air personality type. Other descriptors include communicate, think, plan, translate, enlightenment (on the Spirit level)

- DO: This is the Fire personality type. Other words to describe this personality type include kinetic energy, movement, action, power

- FEEL: This is the Water personality type. People with this personality type are also described as emotional, strongly connected to Spirit (emotion is the language in Spirit), psychic, receptive

- BE: This is the Earth personality type. Earth personality types are also described as serene, stable, steady, strong, anchored

So which type are you? You might be a combination of two types, but usually one of the magical elements dominates your personality type.

Why is it important to know your personality type in terms of the four magical elements? Because as magicians and shamans the more we know about ourselves, the better practitioners we become. We can use this knowledge to compensate for our weaknesses, and capitalize on our strengths.

If you are still not sure about your personality type in terms of the magical elements, consider downloading and taking our online no-cost test.

Have fun learning about yourself magically in terms of the four magical elements. Know thyself!

Is Obesity Actually a Taboo from a Magical Point of View?

This is a very interesting question ... One of our readers asked us to comment on a blog post written by another blogger who finds obesity to be a pagan taboo. Having read through the post, the point is well taken. That is, obesity, like many other diseases that are the result of an unhealthy lifestyle, can lead to early death. This blogger's point is that it is a shame to extinguish a "bright" pagan life through an unhealthy lifestyle, thus making obesity a "pagan taboo."

So one of our readers wants to know whether obesity is really a pagan taboo.

Can We Really Comment on the Entire Pagan Community?
Nope, we can't. The Esoteric School is an online magic school teaches the basics of magic and shamanism. We can't comment on the pagan world at large, only what we "know" through our own experiences and observations. This has led to some interesting results. For instance, several Native American tribes/nations have declared "war" on us because we promote the use of the Navajo Beauty Way. So be it. We've also gotten positive comments from some Lakota tribes for spreading the use of the Beauty Way. So there you have it. How we and others practice magic and shamanism is personal, and commentary tends to come from all directions, including left field.

What We Can Say about Magical Practice
At the Esoteric School, we follow The Rules of the Road, which doesn't really say anything about obesity being taboo or not. These rules, created by our own teacher, George Dew (co-founder of the Church of Seven Arrows) have yet to fail us in our use of magic and shamanism, so we follow these rules as a workable guide until proven otherwise.

What The Rules of the Road does say is this:

'The magician judges the "goodness" or "badness" of his or her own acts, whether they are conscious or unconscious acts, on the basis of what the Universe reflects back on him or her. The same is true of judging others, entire communities, states, or nations.'

So how could we interpret that?
  • It could be said that a pagan practitioner who is obese and dies an early death may be experiencing the "goodness" or "badness" of his obese lifestyle. Whether death is a "bad" result of obesity is one interpretation. Death could also be taken as a "good" result if the person sought relief from being incarnate and found bodily existence painful.
  • One could also say that the person had already "learned" everything he wanted to learn from this Earth School and was ready to move onto a new body and a new set of lessons.
  • Some predict that in 2012, up to 20 million people will leave the planet so that planetary shift predicted during this year can occur. Early death is one way to leave the planet.
What's the Bottom Line?
As unsatisfying as this may be, the answer to the question of whether obesity is a pagan taboo is that it is up to the observer. The second part of the above-quoted Rule is that the Universe reflects back to us the way we judge others. So this blogger is commenting on the sadness of the loss of life from obesity, calling it a pagan taboo. That's a judgment of sorts, but the good news is that we don't have to do anything about it. From our point of view, the Universe delivers instant-karma and there isn't a right answer to anything for all people.

When we read a blog post like the one about obesity being a pagan taboo, our response is something like, "Hmm, wonder how that's working out for him." It may work out great. The blogger may be sounding a "joyous note to Creator's ear" by "saving" people from obesity, and vibrating in emotional harmony with the Universe as he see it. Good for him. It may have some less-than-positive consequences as well. Only he knows what's really going on as a result of the position he's taken on obesity in pagans.

The Universe, especially during 2012, welcomes all manifestations of beingness. The results of those manifestations will also show up faster during this pivotal year than an any preceding year. So we thank the reader who asked us to comment on this. We thank the blogger who wrote the blog for being willing to stand on that square in life. And we continue to follow the Rules of the Road and watch our own manifestations as we proceed day by day. The results are definitely interesting ... sometimes more like a 2'x4' between the eyes from the Universe, and sometimes more like miraculous magic. It's all good, really!

Online Magic School: For Real?

People email us all the time asking three basic questions:

1. Is magic real?
2. Is your school real?
3. Can I really learn magic and shamanism online?

The answer to the first two questions is, "Yes." Read up in our library of articles to discover the "reality" of magic. The good news is that you can access these articles right now, immediately. That's one of the benefits of interacting with an online magic school ... you can let your fingers do the walking.

As to the second question, our online magic school is indeed a real incorporated entity. We have been a real school dedicated to spreading magic and shamanism to all who wish to learn since 1997. The school, while virtual, is an active ongoing teaching institute.

Ancient Tribal Traditions in Modern Times
As to the third question--whether one can actually learn magic and shamanism online--that has more to do with you than anything else. Some people object to an online magic school because in the past, this kind of information has been passed on through oral, written, and face-to-face interactions.

In some tribal traditions, magical information was considered such a closely-guarded secret that it was passed on only through oral traditions. Each new generation of magicians and shamans had to memorize and personally learn the entire body of knowledge.

Other traditions are less tightly controlled. In these traditions, a combination of oral interaction and written words is considered the way to pass on the information. However, even in these traditions the written word is closely guarded--with almost cult-like fanaticism.

And then there is our online magic school. We offer magic rituals and shamanic teachings through a combination of the written word, audio files, videos, and select live teleconferences. Why have we chosen to break with traditions and use these alternate channels? Several reasons:
  1. Magical knowledge guards itself. There is no need to protect it.
  2. People live in a digital world. Magical and shamanic knowledge must be taught through modern channels if we are to preserve it.
  3. People need magic and shamanism now more than ever. Providing this knowledge through multiple channels allows people to learn in the way that is most effective for them: the written word, the spoken word, or visual images.
So magic and shamanism are being brought into the modern world, but can YOU learn this knowledge from an online magic school such as this one? That is the million dollar question.

The Million Dollar Question
The answer to that question is ... it depends on you. If you have been drawn to magic and shamanism, that means that you have a strong Magnetic Center. If you have a strong Magnetic Center, chances are that you are equally able to learn in an online magic school as in some ancient tribal tradition.

It's all a matter of desire. Not sure if an online magic school is for you? Don't dive right in. Instead, just dip your toes into the pool and see if you get any good mojo back from it. Consider checking out the:

- online library of articles
- ebooks
- online Basic Magic course
- videos

Take it as fast or as slow as you want. Explore, experiment, and enjoy!

Online Magic School – What Can You Learn?

Magic is the science of first understanding and then using to our benefit the principles that govern this Universe. Everything in this Universe is comprised of a mixture of the four elements air, fire, water and earth. The study of magic is the study of these elements - their characteristics, their behaviors, the parts of the Universe that they govern, and their interaction with each other. Understanding and directly working with these elements allows us to understand anything in the Universe. When we understand something at such a precise level, we can create it. In short, Magic teaches us to understand and create anything we choose in this Universe.

When people ask, "Can I really learn magic through an online magic school?", we are able to answer yes because of the way magic is taught at the Esoteric School of Shamanism and Magic as a precision science. The techniques taught in our school are verifiable, repeatable and precise. There are many different disciplines of magic throughout the world and many practices are best learned through a mentor or physical teacher in order to learn the traditions and practices. The techniques we teach through the Esoteric School of Shamanism and Magic can absolutely be taught through online magic courses with the use of class notes, videos and audio file instruction since they are taught as a precise study that allows their duplication again and again.

Specifically, what will you learn in the classes at the Esoteric School? Our beginner-level course is called Basic Magic. In Basic Magic, students learn to work with the four elements of air, fire, water and earth directly (with our hands) and with tools (wand, athame, chalice and plate). Students also learn to use the elements sonically, or with sound. In each of these practices, they learn to use the four elements to:

•Balance their own energies
•Balance the energies of others
•Permanently change their beliefs
•Self-defense
•Healing self and others
•Divination (finding hidden information or seeing possible futures)
•Psychic communication
•Create sacred space
•Finding lost objects or people

Towards the end of the Basic Magic course, students also learn how to read the tarot and create and use safe, effective spells. Spells can be used to attract money, manifest jobs, deepen relationships, or achieve any number of aims or goals. We use the tarot to find out whether a spell is needed and appropriate, and whether a proposed spell will be effective.

As you can see there is a lot to learn from an online magic school and this is just the Beginning Magic Course. We also have advanced studies in magic and Shamanism classes. You can get answers to more questions you might have about magic and how the magic classes at the Esoteric School work on our FAQs page. There is even a link you can follow from there to see what the class notes, audios and videos are like.

When we decided years ago to start this school, we chose the format we use so that we could offer these teachings to people regardless of geographic area. If we held classes in just one physical location, we would have missed the great students we have had over the years from all over the U.S. and many other countries as well. Online classes, ebooks and homestudy options allow us to spread the magic around and insure these ancient teachings survive.

Basic Magic Homestudy Special For August 2011
We are pleased to be able to offer the complete 30 week Basic Magic Homestudy Course at a 25% discount for the month of August. You can see all the details of this course and place your order in our school store.
