Magic for When It Is All Too Bloody Much!

It is all too bloody much!

That came in an email the other day from someone who had been hit with calamity after calamity ... everything from fender-benders to sick kids to pay cuts at work.

It was just too much and this person wanted to know what he could do, magically, about his situation. It's a good question, and he's not the only one asking it.

Magical Solutions When Life is Too Bloody Much
This is an important topic to address because a lot of people often find life a little too hard to bear. Many people are waking each day to minor calamities, from tooth abscesses to broken computers to relationships that are falling apart. It's like life as we know it is falling part.

So what do we do magically to alleviate this problem? After all, when life as we know it falls apart, it's not a good thing. Luckily, we can take magical steps towards a happier future.

Three Magical Steps when Life is Falling Apart
I like to keep things simple in magic because life is complicated enough. There's no point in making your magical practice complicated as well, right? So here are three magical steps you can take if your life is, well, falling apart at the seams.

1. Don't panic. (duh!)
2. Choose one very, very simple magic ritual you like.
3. Become a slave to the magic ritual.

So let me explain. These three steps really work, and I've deliberately made them sort of inflammatory to make a point. So bear with me. Let's take it one step at a time.

1. Don't Panic
The "Well, duh!" factor is pretty high on this step, but is has to be said. After all, what's the first thing we are programmed to do when a calamity occurs in our lives? PANIC! Yup, sheer unadulterated panic. So learning how NOT to panic is pretty important. By Law of Attraction, panic attracts more things to panic about. So learn to back off the panic a hair or two. Go with, say, annoyance or light cursing to start with. You probably can't go from panic to happy, but you can take a step back from panic and satisfy yourself with a few curse words. So practice, practice, practice not panicking. This is important. Consider it a crucial part of your magical training. You have to master this step, at least somewhat, before moving on to the next step.

2. Choose One Very, Very Simple Magical Ritual You Like
This step is pretty logical. Magical rituals are useful because they create magical effects in your life. The more your life if falling apart, the more magic you need in your life. So you'll need a magic ritual you can use when something calamitous happens in your life. So pick a magic ritual, any ritual, that you like and that is simple. Remember, when you are focused on not panicking, you won't have a lot of brainpower left to do a complicated magic ritual.

Some magic rituals I like include the Navajo Beauty Way Exit Ritual, the Sun Candle, and hiring angels. You can read about all of those here:

Navajo Beauty Way
Sun Candle
Hiring Angels

Or make up your own ritual. You can also get a bunch of simple magic rituals in our Daily Rituals ebook, which contains tons of rituals and teaches you how to create your own. In any case, pick a ritual, learn it well, and keep it handy.

Daily Rituals Ebook

3. Become a Slave to the Magic Ritual
This sounds kind of extreme, but it's actually a very common principle in many esoteric and tribal practices. The gist of it is this: there can only be one "most important" thing in your life, and that thing will either be intentional magic or it will an accidental life event. In many magical traditions, students are instructed to choose an aim (or ritual) and to make that aim their god in life. Why? Because the aim or ritual is intentional, which means it creates a very precise and pre-determined effect. A wanted effect.

This effect acts as an antidote against all the "accidents" that otherwise occur in life: the fender-benders, the sick kids, the reduced paycheck, and other calamities. So being a slave to your chosen magical ritual simply means putting more attention on that ritual than on the current calamity.

Here's how it would work. Suppose you choose the magic ritual of hiring an angel. Now suppose you get into a fender bender. Step 1: don't panic--just mutter a couple curse words under your breath. Step 2: Whip out your magic ritual. Step 3: If possible, hire an angel to fix this mess (before you even get out of the car to deal with the other driver).

Pretty simple, right? By putting your magic ritual ahead acts on the physical plane, you attract more magic and intention, and fewer accidents. I'm assuming, of course, that the fender bender is minor and you have 15 seconds to hire an angel before hopping out of the car. If not, use common sense and take care of business first and hire an angel later. Just remember to put your emphasis on the idea that magic is more important than panicking about the life situation.

This simple three-step magical process works really well during turbulent times. Even if you are not going through “turbulent times” right now, practicing these steps now can help you prepare for when they do come. Really. Magic works, it really does.

Magical Practice: It Really is the Effort That Counts

Sometimes I get hate mail from people who use the magic rituals and exercises I propose. Here is what happens: they do the exercise, don't get the immediate result, and I get hate mail.

It's OK. I can live with it.

What people don't seem to get is that a magical practice is just that: a practice.

A practice means repetition, sweat, effort, and more repetition. All of that, which is by definition practice, comes before perfection.

Here's What You Don't Know About a Magical Practice
In a society based on instant gratification, discussions centered around words like "practice" and "repetition" tend to make people's eyes glaze over, especially the people who want to use magic to win the lottery, like yesterday.

But here's what you might not know about a magical practice: even when you get it "wrong" in your magical practice, you gain magical and spiritual force. In other words, just by doing a magic ritual, even if the ritual doesn't produce the intended result, you get something. A little bit of credit is added to your magical bank account, so that the next time you do a ritual, you have a better chance of producing the result you want.

The Consistency Exercise as a Magic Ritual
No magical practice demonstrates this better than the simple consistency exercise. In this exercise, you choose a simple act to do at the same time every day for 40 days. Any act will do. Suppose you choose to touch the tip of your nose with your right index finger at 1 PM every day. If you miss a day or your appointed time on any day, you start again at day 1.

For instance, let's say you do the exercise correctly, meaning you touch the tip of your nose with your right index finger at 1 PM every day for 8 days. On the 9th day, you get distracted and don't remember your exercise until 2 PM. No dice. You have to start the exercise over again at day 1.

This little magic ritual drives people absolutely nuts, especially if they never make it to day 40. It has taken some people up to a year to achieve their chosen act 40 days in a row. But the people who manage to stick with the exercise for a significant amount of time (even if they never make 40 days) notice something. They begin to notice that they have more magical force. Life flows a little better. Acts of power take a little less effort. Law of Attraction seems to happen more often.

In short, the practice of magic, even in the face of consistent failure, makes magic work a little smoother. In the practice of magic, it IS the effort that counts ... really. If you don't believe me, try the consistency exercise.

After all, how hard can it be to touch the tip of your nose every day for 40 days? Up for the challenge? It's kind of like "wax on, wax off" in the Karate Kid, don't you think?

Want Some Magic Tomorrow? Imagine it Today!

Imagination Today = Magic Tomorrow

Most of us know that creative visualization is an important magical tool for attracting what we want in life. When I teach seminars on meditation and creative visualization, many attendees nod their heads and say, "Oh yes, I know about creative visualization and meditation."

But if you want some magic in your life, the question isn't whether or not you know about creative visualization. The question is, "Do you practice creative visualization?" If not, here's a quote that might help you realize the importance of practicing visualization as a magical tool on a daily basis. This quote is from one of our favorite teachers, Abraham-Hicks:

"Everything that you will some day live, in terms of life experience -- and by some day, we mean as soon as right now, tomorrow, the next day, or some day -- anything that you will some day live, you have first imagined. Because nothing will manifest in your experience without the imagination process happening first."

Did you get that? Nothing will ever manifest in your life unless you imagine it first. Think about that. Hasn't your life so far been the translation of your imagination and beliefs into reality?

If so, then wouldn't it be worth your time to really spend time on creative visualization? Magic, like any other area of expertise, is a matter of practice. In magical circles, we say, "If you pay into your practice, it will pay you back!"

How much have you paid into your magical practice? How much do you pay into it daily? How much do you expect it pay you back? To get some magic into your life tomorrow, what might you be willing to do today?

Magic 2012: Which Group Are You In?

If you have been observant, you may have noticed three different ways in which the year 2012 is affecting the people around you.

1. Leaving the Planet: Many people are choosing this year as a convenient exit strategy. They may have been suffering from painful conditions or simply want to start over after all the hubbub of world change has died down.

2. Crazy but Surviving: This group of people is experiencing all kinds of craziness, but nevertheless emerging as survivors, albeit with slightly thinner wallets. For instance, one woman had the wheel of her truck come right off while she was driving. Luckily, she was able to steer her one-ton truck safely to the side of the road, and a helpful man stopped right behind her to give her assistance. She and her truck survived just fine. She
just had to pay $600 to fix the situation. She, like the other people in this group, are learning life lessons that will serve her well in coming years and lifetimes.

3. Nothing Different: This group is aware that 2012 is somehow "important" but nevertheless carrying on in life as if nothing is different. Being that our thoughts create our realities, nothing much is different for these people. These people don't suffer the same kind of loss as group #2, nor do they gain any sort of life
lessons. They are simply here, carrying on ... and the world does need people to do just that!

Magic 2012: What's Your Story?
Do any of the three groups described above resemble you? I suspect that if you are reading this article, you fall into group #2, where life appears to suck but you still manage to survive. The good news is that you will survive. The bad news is that if you don't listen to the messages the Universe is sending you, you will survive but look like you've just been through the meat grinder.

So how can you practice magic in 2012 so you survive without looking like ground beef? There are plenty of ways. Let me just name a few here ... see if any of these ideas spark your addled and confused brain!

1. Do something magical every day. EVERY day.

2. Remember that every intentional act is a magical act. Want to do magic? Use your intention.

3. Go deep into magic 2012--sign up for the online Basic Magic Course and really get a magical fix.

4. Ask the Universe to help you with specific projects or situations you can't seem to change. Stuff happens fast in 2012 so be prepared for life to take off at Mach-1.

5. Be specific. Yelling "Help!" to the Universe at large is good, but asking for specific help for a specific problem will yield faster and better results. Magic is a precision science so be precise.

6. Get a magic buddy. 2012 is a tough year so you may need a magic buddy to remind you to practice some magic every single day. Every single day.

7. When you feel nuts, look in the mirror and COMMAND yourself: "Come to present time." If you're really nuts, you may have to repeat this command several times. This brings you back into the present, where magic can actually happen.

8. Check out our free online resources and use them (go to www.shamanschool.com and click on the Resources link at the top of the page).

9. Watch a magic 2012 video on our website. It's fun, magical, and helpful.

10. Need a quick fix? We've got a quick fix ebook. Order it, read it, do it. Click on the Store link on our site for more details.

11. Actively look for animal totems everywhere you go. Animals are speaking to us all the time. If you see an animal trying to communicate with you but you don't understand the message, read up in the "Medicine Cards" by Carson and Sams.

12. Move your body to move your mind. If you find yourself in a mental rut, get out and move your body. Your Moving Center is far easier to shift then your Mental Center.

13. Choose one thing you will stop griping out. Stop talking about it. Stop thinking about it. Just one teensy thing ... that's not too much to ask, is it?

14. Need info? Ask yourself for the answer ... you know it. Write the question with your dominant hand. Write the answer with the other hand. Don't think about it, just do it.

15. Mad? Cool down by flowing that negative energy into your fridge. Really! Put your hands or head on the door of the fridge and flow red-orange energy into the fridge until you feel all relaxed.

16. Just give up! Magic happens when we allow room in our lives for the Universe to help. If you have asked the Universe to solve a problem for you, give up your end of the struggle. Let the Universe do the heavy lifting.

17. Have a happy childhood. Yup, you may be an adult but it's never too late to have a happy childhood. Do something that you always wanted to do as a kid. When you are happy, you sound a joyous note to Creator's ear and good magical things happen!

So ... is that enough ideas to get you started? If not, then maybe you'd better switch groups--to either #1 or #3! Otherwise, enjoy the magical mystery tour!

Top 10 Reasons People Don't Do Magic

For those of us who have practiced and studied magic for years and live within magical realms, it is hard to believe that not everyone desires magical knowledge or a magical lifestyle. Here are some of the reasons we've found that people don't do magic.

1. Don't understand what it really is
2. Contempt prior to investigation
3. Confused by media representation
4. Fear of the unknown
5. It challenges Western societal traditions and beliefs we have been raised with about spirituality and religion
6. Fear of change
7. Too busy
8. It's easier to live mechanically in the mundane world than to work on increasing the level of one's being
9. Other people will think they are weird
10. Belief that magic is evil

Most magical practitioners probably had one or more of these beliefs at one time before discovering their path into the world of magic. Each person must decide for himself or herself what paths to take in life. Those called to a magical way of life will be drawn to it, as it is drawn to them. Then the choice is yours. Will you follow the calling of magical ways or succumb to the biggest fear of all that It Just Might Work?

Magic and Monkey Business

"Monkey see, monkey do." Have you ever heard that phrase. Probably. And you've probably heard of that phrase because it works as a formula for learning, whether you want to learn music, mule-busting, or magic.

That's why this year the Esoteric School blog is going to use the "monkey see, monkey do" approach to spread the magic. You see, we have tons of magical material (and when we say tons, we literally mean tons -- we know we because we hauled it all the way over from CO to CA). We weighed the stuff. We have tons, for real.

But us having tons of magical know-how doesn't help you or anyone else in the world who wants to learn, use, and apply magic in everyday life. Hence the "monkey see, monkey do" approach.

What is "Monkey See, Monkey Do"?
So what does all of this blather mean to you, the reader of the Esoteric School blog? It means that we are going to be offering a limited number of magical exercises that you can easily learn, practice, do, and use in everyday life. Most of these exercises will be total freebies, and some of them will require you to download some inexpensive instructions manuals (just to be up front with you 'cause most things on the internet are free, but not everything … and you mostly get what you pay for).

Once you put out the instructions for a particular exercise, we're going to do the exercise ourselves. Then we'll report back on the results, and we hope you'll report back, too. You can best do that by posting comments on the blog so that others can read about your experiences, questions, and comments. Chances are that you are not the only one with questions and comments, and sharing publicly helps the magical community as a whole.

Sound good? Sounds peachy to us.

Getting Started
So if you are into this whole "monkey see, monkey do" practical magic approach to life, then let's get started. We've got a lot of ideas up our sleeves about magical exercises, but this isn't about us. It's about you. So what do you want to learn about? What magical topics are bugging you? What magical procedures do you really want to learn?

Post your ideas in the comment section of the blog and we'll pick the most popular and go with those. If your idea doesn't get picked, don't get offended. We get slammed with hundreds of emails everyday so there's no way that we can answer every single person's questions or concerns, but we'll hit the high spots for as many magical problems as possible.

Good to go? Good … then let's go!
