How Does Magic Speak to You?

One of the things I love most about magic is the many and varied ways it shows up in our lives. Many times when I ask for magical help from powers and beings, I am surprised at the ways it shows up in my life.

I also realize that many people miss the signs of magic in their lives because they don't know what to look for. In other words, magic is constantly sending messages to us, but we often overlook these signs and symbols.

To remind myself of these signs and symbols, as well as to help others who are looking for help from magic, I've compiled a list of the various ways magic has come into my life over the years.

This is just a short excerpt, and I hope this helps to open your senses to the many ways magic is speaking to you.

Some of the Ways Magic Speaks to Me

1. A sentence in a book that I opened to a random page
2. A check in the mail
3. A conversation I overheard between two strangers
4. A raven flying overhead, squawking a message to me
5. The moral of a movie coinciding with a request for magical help
6. A business phone call from a stranger, who turns out to be reading the same spiritual book as me
7. Life-threatening surgery that forever changed my perspective on life
8. Watching the amazing transformation in a child's behavior in 10 days
9. A long-time friend leaving my life, opening a new space for ...?
10. A dream just before awakening
11. Runes cast at just the right time, showing me the way
12. Meeting a group of magical practitioners at a mountain-side rest stop, who are meditating in the "cone of silence"
13. Seeking and finding the Gurdjieff Work
14. Taking one dose of a flower remedy made from the magical datura plant 
15. Feeling the brush of angel wings while at a rest stop after an extremely long drive
16. The reincarnation of my dog, Tether, who lived two lifetimes with me
17. A nasty note from an anonymous person saying, "Learn how to park, idiot!"
18. The planting and cultivation of my garden each year
19. A call out of the blue from a long-lost friend
20. Finding exactly what I want in a thrift store

Many of these magical messages have meaning only for me and probably don't make sense to you. That's the whole point of this list. Magic always speaks to us in very personal ways -- ways that only make sense to us and have no meaning for anyone else.

As this list also demonstrates, magic sometimes speaks to us through contrast -- through events that we would normally perceive as negative. Our job, as magicians, is to question events that appear negative on the surface, and see whether the event answers some request we have made for magical help. One question to ask is, "What did I get from this event? What did I give up or give away?"

A Magical Challenge
I challenge you to make your own list of events through which magic speaks to you. You may have to dig a little to find these events, but trust me, the process will definitely be educational. Look through past events and see whether you can uncover magical messages or answers to prayer requests.

In the coming days, become more aware of your environment. If a raven passes overhead and squawks, look up the magical message that the raven carries in the Medicine Cards. If you are standing behind an exceptionally rude person at the grocery store checkout, see how the event might relate to the magic you are doing in your life. If nothing is happening in your life, ask yourself the magical meaning of such silence. Most of all, enjoy. That's what magic is for!

Magic 2013: As the World Wobbles

Have you noticed lately how things in the world are strange, funky, and otherwise just plain hinky? Maybe you are suddenly accident-prone or suffering from strange new health problems. Or maybe business has suddenly taken a funny turn. Perhaps relationships that have been solid for years are all of sudden on the fritz.

So what in the heck is going on here? After all, 2012 is over... it is supposed to be smooth sailing from here on out, right? Maybe, or maybe not.

What Didn't Happen in 2012
Contrary to many popular predictions, the world didn't end in 2012. Neither California nor Florida floated away. The South and North poles did not change positions. The Earth suffered some strange effects and disasters, but nothing compared to a true pole shift.

Instead, the people on the planet are the ones who experienced the pole shift--some more dramatically than others. For some of this, our true North suddenly became South. I saw this happen in my wife's life. She has been dedicated to the art of horsemanship since the age of four. She would ride any horse, nag, pony, or wild beast offered to her. Her dream was to eventually jump a horse in double clear rounds at the Grand Prix level.

All good. Then she suffered a number of accidents, some on horses and some through various life events, and that desire is gone. She, an avid collector of horses and horse projects, has suddenly reduced her usual gaggle of horses to one mare. She may eventually go back to the dream of riding at the Grand Prix level, but for now, her focus has completely shifted to other goals. The Grand Prix dream, which used to be her true North, has suddenly shifted to the South pole. Just like that, in the snap of a finger. Boom.

So while the Earth didn't suffer a total pole shift, many people, like my wife, have suddenly found their own personal poles shifted... seemingly without any warning.

What's Happening with Magic 2013?
So if you are a practitioner of the magical arts, how do you make sense of the hinky happenings this year? If you have experienced your own pole shift--or even series of pole shifts--how do you cope? What kind of magic can you do to lessen the impact on your life?

Well, first let's take a look at what's going this year. I would best describe the planetary happenings with the phrase, "As the world wobbles." This is partly, of course, a play on the daytime soap opera "As The World Turns."

The world is certainly still turning in orbit, thank goodness, but there's a very slight wobble going on as the planet circles around in that orbit. A slight wobble you say? Not a major wobble? Yes, a slight wobble. For the planet, the wobble is very slight, but for us humans, every tiny tremor in the planet can be felt as a major life shift, or perhaps as a continuous chain of minor inconveniences that stack up into a major headache.

For instance, one person reports a chain of small events that has stacked up into a major debt: a car malfunction, a not-too-major health issue, a tiff with a client, a sick pet, and minor house repair. Taken separately, these issues are not major, and this person would easily be able to handle them. But the problem is that they all occurred in a span of two weeks. Compressed into that time frame, this person is about to pull his hair out (what little hair is left, that is!). Now that is an example of the world experiencing a tiny wobble as it circles the sun.

In the other instance, a person can feel the world wobbling as a single major event that absolutely changes North and South poles, as discussed above. In the cases of these personal pole shifts, the severity can range from a lifetime interest in something simply disappearing to a life-threatening illness that leaves one teetering on the edge of life and death.

So what's a person to do as the world wobbles? Let's take a look at what kinds of magic are most beneficial in 2013.

How to Use Magic 2013
As you may have already figured out, Magic 2013 is about expecting the unexpected. That means being prepared, and having your magical toolbox fully stocked and ready to go at all times.

Next, adaptation is key. We have a phrase that we use often in our school (thanks to my teacher George Dew) called "cut and fit." Cut and fit is exactly what it sounds like. It means that you have to be able to look at the situation in front of you, rummage around in your magical toolbox, and come up with the right combination of tools that will solve the problem. The key is that the tools you use may or may not have originally been intended for the purpose to which you are now applying them. Nope. Magic 2013 calls for creativity, ingenuity, and the ability to shape your knowledge and experience in new ways to fit the new world--and its wobbles.

Then there's your perspective as you look at your life and any new situations that may have cropped up. You may need to adopt some new "rules" or paradigms in your life to cope with the strange events that appear. Here are some examples that may help:

• There are no wrong decisions
• Life is just an experiment so there are no "wrong" answers – you are just gathering data.
• Hinky stuff is happening to everyone so at least you're not alone
• Life on planet Earth is pretty messy right now, so just clean up as best you can and then do something that makes you feel good
• You get to make up the rules to your own life, so now is a good time to start thinking about which life rules you might want to discard, and which new rules you might want to create

Magic 2013: Magic 2012 is Over... What Now?

In the past year we have discussed a great deal about magic 2012--in other words, the transition into the Age of Aquarius, the renewal of the Mayan calendar, the interval represented by the year 2012.

You have probably noticed that 2012 is over... so what now? Simple, we move on to magic 2013. Magic 2013 is all about a different kind of magic, and very different from magic 2012. Before we dive in, though, let's take a quick look at the past year.

Magic 2012: A Recap
Magic 2012 is probably best described, in magical terms, as an interval. For those of you who are familiar with music or the piano keyboard, an interval is very much like the half-step between two white keys. For those not familiar with the piano keyboard, don't worry. We will explain.

Magically, an interval is a pause in the octave of time. Within this pause, much happens magically. First, it is a time of massive change (and the chaos that can often accompany such a large change). In the Tarot, this is represented by the Tower card. In terms of world change, 2012 represented the first world change in which the planet itself did not bear the effects of the change. In previous world changes, the planet suffered from Wind, Fire, Water and other massive elemental pressures. Entire species were wiped out during such changes, and poles often shifted, with North and South poles changing places. You can imagine the chaos.

The year 2012 was the first world change in which humans were the ones to bear the effects of the world change that is the inevitable result of one age ending and another beginning. Humans elected, a long time ago, to shoulder the burden as a race. In effect, we humans agreed to become a Universal "experiment" to see whether we could use this world change to evolve as a species and avoid being wiped out (as were so many species in past world changes).

Many beings from other planetary systems in the Universe were curious about the results of this experiment and came to bear witness. Some have been walking among us for a few years or a few decades. Others chose not to incarnate and are simply watching from afar.

Magic 2012: What About You?
So that is the historical perspective of magic 2012. But what about you personally? How did you handle the magic of 2012, and how did you use it?

On a personal level, magic 2012 was about seeing, exploring, and moving through our blind spots. The interval presented the perfect opportunity to make big changes in our lives. The process would have been chaotic, fraught with high emotions, and more than a little scary. But if you DID choose to make major life changes in 2012, you will find 2013 to be a major breeze!

The funny aspect of making changes in 2012 is that while it would have had major benefits for you in the coming years (2013 included), it probably looked to outsiders that you were having the worst year ever. The people we witnessed making the biggest changes and advances in their Spirit paths suffered calamities on all levels: physical, financial, emotional, and mental.

But--and this is huge--these same people also found that the calamities caused them to ask for help from all kinds of sources. The result? These people were literally buried by an avalanche of help. Angels, Spirit guides, helpful people from unexpected quarters, totems, and even some of those observers from other planetary systems all stepped up and gave help, assistance, guidance, information, clarity, and so much more. The affected people were surprised, overwhelmed, grateful, and amazed. And they built some very crucial relationships with allies on many levels.

If you were one of the people who elected to make major life changes in 2012, then you know exactly what we mean. Now, let's move on to magic 2013.

Magic 2013... What Now?
So 2013 is definitely upon us and moving at the speed of light. In case you have not noticed, time has sped up since the change in 2012. Everything is faster in this new age. You ask, and the Universe delivers--right now! So be careful how you think and for what you ask. Karma is also the other factor that has sped up. Remember that Beatles' song about "Instant Karma"? We are now living in the age of instant karma. So do try to keep your side of the street clean! You will definitely know if you have failed to do so!

What is happening to those who made major changes in 2012? We said above that life is a breeze for those people... and it is, compared to the rest of the world, that is. Those efforts made at life changes will definitely bring major benefits. However, life will continue to be inconvenient and "stuff" will still happen. The difference is that there is plenty of Universal help and support out there--you just have to ask. In addition, any magic done in 2013 will be greatly amplified and powerful. If life presents you with situations that seems crazy and impossible, look to allies and magic this year as powerful forms of recourse and adjustment.

What is happening to those who chose NOT to take advantage of the 2012 interval? It varies. For those who just want to live mechanical life as always, nothing much will change. Life may get a little more inconvenient, but since they are not really participating in the great experiment of humanity, nothing much changes for them. For those who are conscious and cultivating, change is still possible in 2013... it will just be more difficult and more painful. Part of the reason is that time has sped up in 2013, so the Universe is less forgiving, in a way, of errors in judgment. In actuality, it just means that karma comes around faster than before (not that the Universe is punishing anyone!).

If you have chosen to be spiritually conscious and find yourself coming up against some major barriers in your life, should you still attempt to make major changes in yourself and your life in 2013? Absolutely. Time is only going to keep speeding up and karma is going to keep coming around faster and faster. As inconvenient and painful as changing in 2013 may be (as compared to 2012) the benefits will still be useful.

Our advice? Ask for Universal help (angels, totems, Spirit guides) as much as possible. Look for signs of positive change and guidance everywhere (where you least expect). Do as much magic on a daily basis as possible, since we are moving out of the material world and into a much more energy-based magical world. And when life gets inconvenient and painful, practice acceptance as much as possible, realizing that this is simply the price to pay into change. The results will be definitely worth it -- hundreds of times over!

Magic 2012: Clock's a-ticking ... Have You Figured Out Your Lesson Yet

Magic 2012 is quickly drawing to an end. As the much prophesied date of December 21, 2012 approaches and we transition into a new era, let's look back at what magic 2012 has been about and what you can still do before the December date arrives.

Magic 2012: Large Life Events
For many people, the year of magic 2012 has been filled with chaotic events and/or the year has seemed to move at a fast speed. We have seen more people dealing with life events of a larger scale this year. Whether it has been in financial, relationship, health, or loss issues, there has been an increased intensity in these life events. The lessons associated with these issues have caused people to have to look beyond the events themselves and turn further inward to gain understanding of the important lessons they have yet to learn. The good news is that magic 2012 has been a time of manifesting quicker and making changes quicker. More people have opened themselves to guidance and help from higher powers and beings, have learned to trust their inner voice and received asked for signs from totems and spirit forces. The lessons may not all have been pleasant, but they have been more profound this year.

Magic 2012: Need Help Getting Your Lesson?
There have also been people for whom this year held significance, but they did not face the craziness and did not have those big life lessons to learn. That could mean there really isn't one for them at this time, but it could be they just haven't been tuned in enough to get it. There is still time. If you haven't figured out your big life lesson for this year, ask. You can ask the 4 winds, angels, your totems, guardians or any number of spiritual beings to send you signs if there is a big lesson for you this year. Spend some extra time meditating and doing self observation. Dig deeper than you have before. If there is something that you have been uncomfortable about or an issue that you haven't really wanted to face, this is the year more than any other that can bring you resolution, peace and a deeper understanding.

This has been a year that many of the tried and true techniques used in the past haven't been working for people the same way. They have had to get more creative, make big changes and seek out alternatives. If you've never taken on doing a daily ritual, this may be the time to do that. Doing a daily ritual insures that we set aside some time everyday to connect with the higher, have some quiet time and create some sacred space for ourselves. This can be meditating, do yoga, reading from an inspirational book or any number of uplifting spiritual endeavors. The key is to do the exercise everyday, thus making it a daily ritual. This opens a doorway through which higher powers and beings can enter your life. If you do a daily ritual and haven't received insight into any deeper life lessons, you may need to change to a different ritual. If you have been doing the same ritual for a period of time, you may be going through your ritual in a mechanical way at this point, thus closing the doorway. Changing to a fresh ritual may engage your centers and allow you to re-open the door.

Remember that any intentional act is an act of magic and in this year of magic 2012 those intentional acts can open you to new possibilities. This year has been best and fastest time to manifest anything, so if you haven't gotten to it yet, it's time to get moving, the clock's a ticking!

Magic 2012 – How to Look Beyond the Events

As we approach the much prophesied date of December 21, 2012 we are seeing more and more people dealing with large life events. Whether they are dealing with financial crises, major health issues, relationship breakdowns, loss of home and property, job loss, or any number of other manifestations of 2012, people are often filled with questions. They ask questions like:

Why me?
Why is life so unfair?
What do I do now?
Where do I go when I feel like I have no where to turn?

Many times these life events appear to be "bad news" and people tend to focus on the events themselves. People also tend to get stuck in the "Why me?" mode. The key to successfully navigating the events that Magic 2012 tends to throw in our lives is to look beyond the events themselves. Instead of asking questions like, "Why me?" Magic 2012 asks us to dig deeper. We need to be asking questions like, "What is the real message behind this event? What am I meant to learn from this event? In what way is this event asking me to change?"

While these life events may appear to be bad news, don't worry! The good news about Magic 2012 is that it is easier to change yourself and your life in 2012 than it will be in the future or has been in the past. If you need help getting answers or guidance try doing a question circle and asking the Universe for help.

How to Do a Magical Question Circle
Here's what you'll need: a sun yellow candle on a plate or in glass, paper or wooden matches, pen, and paper. You may also need a compass to help you figure out the cardinal directions of east, south, west, and north. Once you've gathered your materials and have located the cardinal directions, light your yellow candle with your matches. Then, follow the steps below.

1) Bring your candle, pen, and paper to the east quarter of your circle. Sit facing the outside of the circle (facing east). Ask the Winds of Knowledge what you need to know about your situation, and get quiet inside as you wait for the answer. Be prepared to write down everything that comes to you. Don't think about it, just write. Keep writing until you no longer receive information. Thank the Winds of Knowledge and move to the next step.

2) Move to the south, and sit facing south. Ask the Winds of Power to show you what actions you need to take for your situation. Again, write any answers that come to you. Thank the Winds of Power.

3) Move to the next quarter, in the west, and sit facing west. Ask the Winds of Feeling what emotional shifts you need to make regarding your situation. In addition, you may want to ask for spiritual enlightenment. Thank the Winds of Feeling, and then move to the next quarter.

4) Move to the north, and sit facing north. Ask the Winds of Strength how you can build a foundation for the future you want. Ask for practical guidance about your situation. Thank the Winds of Strength.

5) Finally, move back to the center of your circle and sit facing east. Read through the answers that have come to you from each direction. Slowly digest the information. You may want to repeat the question circle several times, at different times, until you get clarity on your situation or lessons.

The year 2012 is an interval year, which means that changes not possible before are now very possible. Ask the right questions and you'll get some amazing answers.

Magic 2012: What's Your Big Lesson

Magic 2012 is a good time to figure out what big life lesson you have yet to learn. Typically, the Universe will offer our lessons to be learned in this Earth School we live in, from a soft approach. We get it, thank the Universe for the help and go on. If the message is ignored however, it will not go away, but will get delivered in a stronger way.

Magic 2012: Getting the Message
Even those of us who live life as magical practitioners sometimes don't always get the message right away in the soft and gentle delivery. We have to wait for the stronger message which can sometimes wreak havoc in our lives. Especially in this year of Magic 2012 when there is so much going on, messages can be difficult to sort out and understand.

Magic 2012: The Two By Four Message
The Universe doesn't stop though just because we don't get it. Each time a message is sent it gets more obvious and not as easy to ignore. Kinda like going from a softly whispered piece of advice to being hit up the side of the head with a two by four. Here's an example.

One of our staff members at the Esoteric School tends to overwork. I won't go so far as to say a work-a-holic, but well if the shoe fits...  When not working for herself, she is constantly working for others. She is extremely competent and skilled in many areas, so it is easy for people to seek her out for help with a variety of projects. Our friend has been getting messages for a long time about needing to slow down, not work so hard and do more for herself instead of so much for others. This lesson, although recognized, has not completely taken hold with her. So this year the Universe through Magic 2012 decided it is time for her to really get it.

First she found herself being tired much of the time and being sick a lot, requiring her to rest more. That wasn't quite enough though for our resident work-a-holic to put down the work load. One of her many skills is working with horses. She is able to take a Mustang raised in the wild, bond with it and end up with not only a horse she can ride, but also participate in horse shows. The next message came in the form of being stepped on by one of her horses, Ouch! Down for a while, but still not a strong enough message to slow down this working girl.

On to the next message, a bit stronger this time. She gets kicked by the horse, is sore for quite a while and develops a bone spur. Still not enough to keep her down and out and the same amount of work goes on because after all how could the world go on without her doing her work and what would the people dependent on her do if she wasn't doing the things they need her to do?

Now the Universe is through messing around. It is time to bring out the two by four. Our friend now is thrown by one of her horses and the horse falls on her. The horse is fine and gets up, but our friend now has a collar bone broken in 2 places and her arm strapped across her chest for the next 4 months. The type of work she does will now be severely affected with the loss of the use of one arm. Doctor's orders are not to use that arm and must get plenty of rest for those 4 months for the break to heal. Lesson learned. It is time for her to not only take care of herself which means less work, less taking care of everybody else's problems and work, but to now allow all those others to help take care of her. And to her surprise the world has continued to function and most amazing of all is the way everyone is so willing to chip in and help her for a change.

Magic 2012: How to Avoid the Two By Four
The above example is just one of many that we have seen people go through in getting the lesson the Universe is trying to deliver. In every case, there was an easier, gentler way to get that message. But when ignored or put off, the Universe does persist. This year of Magic 2012 is especially potent and full of magical messages. Be conscious of this and look for the signs. If you have trouble reading the signs, ask the Universe for help reading them. Indicate that you are not being dismissive, but just need some help understanding. 
Here are some things you can do to ask the Universe for help in understanding:

• Ask for guidance from totem animals. Then find out what the totem you see means.
• Spend some extra time in meditation or quiet sitting focusing on the things that are happening in your life that cause you to believe there is a message you are missing. Listen to the voice inside you for guidance.
• Do a Question Circle to get help from higher beings (see how at http://bit.ly/TYWiks)
• Do a Tarot reading and take a look at your past, present and future lines. (we offer a homestudy Tarot class )

Knowing your astrological transits can also be helpful. If the lesson is learned before a transit arrives, you either won't have the catastrophe/chaos or will have some major issue, but will also find that you have the resources to handle it right there. Of course if you don't want to learn the lesson, you can always wait and get the Universal two by four.

Magic 2012: Instant Karma Really Does Exist

I have always loved that old Beatles song about instant karma ... especially the part about how instant karma is going to get ya! And the Beatles were right, especially when it comes to practicing Magic 2012 and your path in life.

When we have a magical practice, we have access to far more skills and abilities than the average person. At the same time, the Universe holds us to a higher set of standards than it holds the average Joe. The average Joe doesn't have the skill of premonition and so he can't see what's around the next bend on his path. Magically we say that he lives under the Law of Accident, which means that anything can happen at any time, any place, any way. There is no predictability in the Law of Accident, only a sea of variables.

With a magical practice, we live under the Law of Fate, in which we can use astrology, divination, spellwork, or other magical rituals to look ahead at events in our future. If we see something unwanted, we can make small adjustments in the present, which will create a larger change in the future--a detour around the unwanted event, if you will. With magic, we seek to create constants in our lives that separate us from the sea of "accidental" variables.

But what does all of this have to do with instant karma? It's simple. With magic 2012, instant karma is stronger than ever. Should you practice magic yet not keep your word, be prepared for the Universe to hand out swift and just karma in your life. There has always been karma, but the delay between straying from your path and receiving your karma used to be longer--from months to years.

In 2012, instant karma means seconds, minutes, or hours. As a practitioner, if you give your word and then don't keep it, you automatically fall from the Law of Fate to the Law of Accident. The karma will appear swiftly and will be a strong match to the way you have strayed from your path. That is why these days, if someone acts without fairness or honor, I step back and just let the Universe deal out the karma. I've known what it is like to be on the receiving end of this, and I have also seen it happen to other people. So practitioners of magic 2012, pay attention! Be careful to whom and what you give your word and stick to it, or prepare to pay the karma that is inevitably headed your way!

Magic 2012: Good Enough is Great

We get a lot of questions about Magic 2012. People want to know what kinds of magic would be appropriate for this very important year, both for the planet and for their personal lives. So here's a very simple answer that we have for all those questions about Magic 2012:

"At whatever level, personal or global or anything in between, do the best you can with what you have and then count it good."

Magic 2012: What's Up with the Opposites?
If you have a regular magic practice, then you have probably realized that things are little hinky this year. On the one hand, some magic spells and rituals are manifesting things in the blink of an eye. Amazing, right? That's the neat and fun side of Magic 2012, especially if you have had a magical practice for quite some time. You're seeing a radical "speeding up" of the results of your magical practice.

And then we have the opposite end of the spectrum. This is where magical rituals start going wonky, there are all kinds of variants of the "inconvenience factor," and magical stuff that used to be simple is running into all kinds of interference. For instance, we recently launched a fairly simple spell to correct what seemed like a very simple and straightforward problem. Days passed and not much happened, so we did a Tarot reading to check up on the progress of the spell.

Can you say Magi reversed? Not to mention a lot of other reversed pairs of cards in our 12-card spread. All of these reversed cards indicated that our spell was running into all kinds of opposition and difficulty. Progressed readings showed that the spell wasn't likely to overcome the "inconvenience factors" that are simply part of 2012.

So on the one hand, we have some great Magic 2012 that is just working amazing miracles, and then we have some Magic 2012 that is running into brick wall after brick wall.

Magic 2012: What to Do About Those Brick Walls
Obviously those daily magical rituals that are working splendidly should be left alone to do their fabulous work, but what about those spells that are hitting a lot resistance?

What we have found works best is the magical principle of "as above, so below." In other words, should your spellwork, which is "exoteric" (meaning something that you have put out or is happening outside you), not be working well as Magic 2012, then the answer is to go inside. Sometimes we are the ones blocking our spells or daily rituals from bringing us what we want. And believe us when we say that we can stand in our own way better than anyone else on the planet! In some cases, innumerable Protection and Wisdom candles won't do squat. Why? Because we live in a free-will Universe, so if we choose to stand in the way of our own launched creations in this year of super-speedy reactions, our magic is going nowhere.

So what not? If "exoteric" magic isn't working, it's time to do a little "esoteric" magic ... that is, magic that is happening inside you. Just as healthcare providers are often told, "Healer, heal thyself," so too are magicians told, "Magicians, work magic on yourself." If you look inside, you will generally find that there is some giant brick wall or resentment inside you that is blocking parts of your magical practice from working.

What kind of brick walls? It could be anything from lack of compassion for self to selfishness to resentments about being jobless ... or resentments about having a job and working too hard. Whatever it is, this IS YOUR LESSON for 2012. And if you look inside it won't take you too long to find that brick wall, that resentment, that icky place that you don't want to acknowledge. Whatever you find, simply be aware of it. Don't try to change it right now. Simply see it and name it. For instance, you might say, "Oh look, that's the part of me that really resents having to work so hard!" Or you might say, "Yup, there's that part of me that really hates being taken for granted!"

Observe that part of yourself the way that a scientist would watch a lab rat. Have that kind of curiosity and objectivity. The more you shed conscious light on these dark parts of your magical soul, you'll find that it starts to change, shift, and eventually fade away. That's that magic of "esoteric Magic 2012." You don't actually "do" anything. You just have to see ... and watch ... and NOT JUDGE. Then the magic happens!

Suddenly, one day, unexpectedly, you will find the spell that's been stuck in park is moving along at the speed of light. Wow, cool!

Magic 2012: What's Up with Good Enough
So the title of this post is about Magic 2012 being good enough, and how good enough is really great. What's that all about?

If you read the literature about 2012, some of which was published as early as the 1970s, you will find that the predictions all point to this year being both wonderful ... and tough. Some predict that as many as 20 million people are going to leave the planet during this year before the "transition" into the Aquarian Age is going to possible. That's a lot of people, and if you are like the average person, you've probably watched people dropping like flies, or transitioning into an alternate reality, as it were.

Should you feel bad about this? Nope, this is a "free will and instant karma" Universe, so everyone gets to make a choice about whether to stay or leave. Those that have left their bodies either don't want to make the transition at all, or don't want to make the transition in their current bodies. Don't worry, most will be back after the transition has been made, somewhere around December 21, 2012.

Even those people who are not leaving their bodies are, for the most part, keeping their head above water. Whether they are struggling with emotions, careers, family, relationships, health, money, or constant chaos, 2012 can be quite challenging for many of us. And that's where the idea of that "good enough is great" comes in. If you can just survive this year, with your three major centers intact (Moving, Emotional, and Intellectual), then you are rockin' awesome. Not just surviving, but thriving. Not just awesome but rockin' awesome.

We know that it feels bad and it feels like the chaos will never end, but it will. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Magic 2012 - Change Just One Itty-bitty Thing

Magic 2012 is very exciting because magic is literally "in the air"! In other words, a little bit of magic goes a long way during this planetary transition period ... and it happens fast!

Magic 2012 and Little Changes
One of the main principles of spell work is that "a small change in the present leads to a larger change in the future." This principle also applies to the Tarot. And this principle is very helpful in magic 2012.

What does this principle mean to you as a practitioner this year? It means that if you want to use magic to make major changes in your life, you don't have to go for the giant Tarot spell or the big-time magical act.
You just have to make a small change now. In magic 2012, that little change then leads to a much larger change in your near future. In your far future, that change becomes much bigger. In other words, a little magical change today turns into a magical snowball that rolls downhill, gathering speed and size. The magic just keeps getting bigger and faster.

Magic 2012 and Small Daily Changes
If one small magical change in the present makes such a big change in your future, what do you think happens when you make small magical changes every single day?

That means you fashion and set into motion a magical snowball every single day. Can you say "magical avalanche"?
So what are we really talking about here? We are talking about doing daily magical rituals to make the most of magic 2012.

Whether you do the Navajo Beauty Way Exit Ritual multiple times a day, or you choose to do a different magical ritual every day, the magic will happen more and more with each passing day.

You can also use the daily magical rituals to ask for different things each time, or you can simply re-affirm the coming of the same few things each time. That part is the fun creative magical decision that you get to make!

Magic 2012 - Temper Tantrums Allowed

Children are born magical and wise. How and why? Well, one of the things that babies and children do very well, especially early-on in life, is cry, fuss, and throw temper tantrums until they get what they want. When they are babies, they are the most successful at getting what they want, and they tend to lose this trait to "education and imitation" as they grow older.

Normally speaking, society doesn't consider the "temper tantrum" to be "good behavior" ... thus frowning on this tactic. It's no wonder that we, as adults, rarely throw temper tantrums, at least not publicly. However, in magic 2012 temper tantrums are not only allowed but can also be very helpful.

Magic 2012 and Temper Tantrums
The Universe, as you have probably figured out, is all-powerful and knows all. And the Universe, especially during this year, finds our antics amusing. Thus even temper tantrums are amusing to the Universe, not to mention occasionally quite useful.

You may be wondering why temper tantrums are called for in magic 2012. After all, if the Universe is all-knowing, why doesn't the Universe just deliver what we want and be done with it? The Universe DOES know what we want and DOES deliver when we ask. The temper tantrums are for us.

Going out and throwing a temper tantrum at the Winds of the four directions can actually be very helpful for us. Temper tantrums are clarifying. They help us ask and answer the question, "What do I REALLY want?" As adults, we have lost the clarity of desire that we had as children, not to mention the willingness to demand our desires.

Throwing a temper tantrum--a child-like form of behavior--returns us to a child-like state of clarity. Tantrums also help us blow off steam and clear repressed emotions. Clearing repressed emotions in magic 2012 is REALLY important, because they are the most likely culprits to sabotage our magical work. This year is all about being present to our emotions, especially since emotions are the language of Spirit, so don't "stuff 'em." Instead, throw a temper tantrum, demand what you want from the Universe, listen as the Universe laughs at and with you, and return yourself to a joyful, peaceful, child-like state. It's fun!

In throwing a temper tantrum and getting back into a happy place, we are also fulfilling our roles on this planet. As the Hopi say, our "job" is to "sound a joyous note to Creator's ear." So if a tantrum gets us back to a happy place, then by all means we should throw a tantrum right here, right now.

How do you throw a temper tantrum? That is completely up to you. Whether you scream and yell at the Universe in general, write a demanding note to your guides and burn it in your Firebowl, or just get down on the ground and pound your fists ... just do what come naturally. As a child you had it in you to do a really good tantrum. Just go for it and enjoy!

Magic 2012 - The Happy Group

A while back we wrote an article on magic 2012 and referred to three different types of people and how they would be affected during this pivotal year. We separated the population into three different groups:

--those who would simply leave the planet
--those who would feel completely nuts but survive
--those for whom nothing much would change

After we posted this article, we have been receiving a steady stream of emails from a very select group of people suggesting that we add a fourth group to this list: the group who are not only happy and thriving in 2012, but having a great time with magic. These people are having magical, mystical, miraculous, and wonderful events occur in their lives ... and they are not working their butts off, either. Nope, they are just having a lot of fun.

Magic 2012 and the Happy Folks
First off, we would like to thank the people who sent us emails about their experience with magic 2012. We knew these people existed on the planet and were having a good time, and we also knew that it would be a fairly rare experience on the planet. In addition, a lot of the beings who are having a good time with magic 2012 prefer to "stay under the radar" since their job is to hold and stabilize the energy on the planet, not make a big magical splash. So we haven't talked about them much.

At the same time, it seems that mention of this happy group is definitely necessary. We should also point out that you can transition into this group at any time. You simply have to make the decision to do so. You just decide. You just move over. You just stop feeding yourself on negative emotions, which, by the way, are very addictive and very popular. You just start looking for the magical and the mystical everywhere you go, under every rock, with every interaction with every stranger. And you move you into that group of happy folks just like that. It's simple, easy, and definitely do-able.

Does anything bad happen to the people in this group? Sure, the inconvenience factor is still at work on the planet, even for this group. They have flat tires, they lose stuff, the value of their stock drops from time to time (like everyone else's). The main difference is that these people KNOW, deep in their bones, that the magic still happens even after all the inconvenience is over and done. In fact, a lot of magic 2012 emerges from the ashes of a lot of inconvenience.

Hmmm ... that's a fun little secret to play with, isn't it?

Magic 2012: Need Magic? 5 Steps to Follow

During this pivotal year, some people are experiencing more magic and wonder than ever ... and lots more people are having difficulty with magic in 2012. They are experiencing more "accidents" than ever, and need more angelic and higher help than ever.

Luckily, if you fall into that second unfortunate group, you can easily switch over to the first group with some practical magic 2012. In 2012, the practice of magic is really all about looking at the part YOU play in your life. It's about "keeping your side of the street clean," as they say. The more you work on yourself with magic 2012, the faster your environment will change (and the fewer surprise accidents you will encounter!).

And, we have 5 steps to help you make the transition from under the "Law of Accident" and move under the "Law of Fate."

Magic 2012: Step 1
The first step in making this transition is to identify the problem. Specifically, ask yourself this question: "What am I allowing to happen in my life?"

Are you allowing yourself to be a victim? Are you saying Yes when you want to say No? Are you letting stress into your life, whether it's real or imagined?

For many people, the situation is about allowing other people to step into their personal or sacred space. For instance, the woman who is allowing herself to be abused (verbally, physically or emotionally) by her spouse is allowing another person to enter her sacred space ... without permission.

Once the problem is clearly identified and acknowledged, you can move to step 2.

Magic 2012: Step 2
The second step may be either the easiest or the most difficult, depending on your personality type. The second step is this: Make a decision to change.

Some people will breeze right through this step. Other people will hit a total road block because they won't know all the steps for making the change, and thus cannot allow themselves to make the decision to change.

Know this: You do NOT need to know the "how" of the change before you make a decision to change. Magically, making a decision to change is called the "base decision," and, in the Creation Sequence, comes before the "how" decisions. The more detailed decisions of "how" you will make the change are called "control decision" and do not need to be known at this point.

All you have to do is be willing to make the base decision that you will change. You do not have to have any clue or idea of how that change will come about.

For this step, the woman being abused by her spouse simply needs to decide that she will change her life. She knows her life will be different after the change, but that's all.

Magic 2012: Step 3
In this step we start looking at the control decisions to go along with the base decision to change. For this step, may we suggest that you look at these magic 2012 resources to help you start the change:

• Videos on Magic
• Magical services

See something that resonates with you? Go with it. See several items that ring your bell? Go with them! If it feels right, in magic 2012 it IS right! For the woman allowing herself to be abused by her spouse, choosing to ask the directions for help by doing the Navajo Beauty Way may be the way to go.

Magic 2012: Step 4
Now comes the step that can be difficult for the impatient people in the crowd: waiting in mystery. Most of us don't even like to wait in line at the coffee shop, so when it comes to making a major change in our lives, waiting is like Chinese water torture!

Luckily, in 2012 changes are happening faster than ever before. Also, if you wait "in mystery" rather than "in misery" changes will also occur in a speedier fashion!

It's perfectly fine to have no idea how the magical rituals or techniques you have chosen for making life changes work. In fact, it's great to be in a place of wonderment and imagination. Think to yourself often, "I wonder how the Universe is going to bring about this change?" Be a very curious seeker about mystery (schools like ours are not called mystery schools for nothing!). Wonder often. Imagine and daydream lots. All of this curiosity and mystery will act as a tractor beam that will literally DRAW the universal solution to you – fast! It will happen before you know it.

The abused woman, our continuing example, may wish to get up a few minutes early, do the Navajo Beauty Way, and then daydream about the changes that will happen in her life during her morning coffee. Every day she can choose a different daydream ... no matter, the Universe gets the message that she wishes to have her sacred space. And the Universe ALWAYS delivers!

Magic 2012: Step 5
Finally we come to the step of waiting and listening. Step 4 already has us waiting in mystery and drawing the solution to ourselves. This is all well and good. Now we must listen as well because the Universe will provide clues and nudges along the way, telling us how we must move and act.

If a snippet of a conversation between strangers seems especially loud, listen hard. If you open a magazine in the supermarket checkout line and a headline pops out at you, read it and ponder it. If a book falls off a shelf, read it! Get it?

If you feel that you are getting no clues from the Universe, go out and tell the Universe, "I know you are sending me messages and for some reason I cannot understand them. Please send them to me in a louder, clearer form that I can more easily understand." Keep sending the Universe this message until you get the clues and nudges you seek in your magic 2012 practice! Don't worry, the Universe does NOT mind repetition.

Note: If you are the truly obsessive type, the best thing you can do during this step is to go away on vacation and distract yourself. Obsessing never helps ... that's too intense and far beyond curiosity and mystery. For your personality, the magic of distraction is what you need! And a vacation should be fun ... just what the Universe ordered!

Get it? Got it? Good!

Magic 2012 – Don't Second Guess the Universe

If there was ever a time when the Universe is handing out signals and signs loud and clear, it's this year. Yup, it's all about Magic 2012.

If you ask a question of the Universe this year, expect the answer to come fast, hard, and clear. This is what is so neat about Magic 2012 ... there may be a lot of chaos and craziness going on, but at the same time the magic is so loud and clear!

Magic 2012 and Second Guessing
If you get an answer from the Universe during this year, go with it. Don't second guess the answer the Universe sends you lest you get dumped into the pot with the other Doubting Thomases!

The Universe is happy to provide answers, but not if you keep asking the same question over and over, expecting different results (this, by the way, is the definition of insanity in many 12-step programs!).

For example, my wife adopts and trains wild mustangs from BLM. She had seen a lovely filly in an online adoption and was wondering whether she should try to adopt the horse. She was open to question. So she asked the Universe in a very precise way.

That she asked with precision is important because magic is a precision science. She decided that if she were able to adopt the filly for a bid of $150 or less, the Universe was telling her to "go for it!" My wife filled out an online application and was approved. On the day of the adoption, she was the first one to bid on the filly. Within 5 minutes, 6 people had bid the filly up past the $150 limit.

No question there as to what the Universe is saying, right?

Magic 2012: When Should You Change Your Mind? 
This example is not to say that when practicing Magic 2012 you should become rigid and unyielding. If new information comes to light, then you can do what is called a "stop-change-start." In other words, stop the direction in which you were headed, make a change (ask the Universe a new question), and start the whole process over again.

Make sense? Magic in the year 2012 is pretty intense, so it's good to keep things clear and simple in your mind.

This is the year to indulge, enjoy, flex, and love the power of magic. Magic 2012 is here and it has never been more fun or more powerful! Enjoy it while you can!

Magic 2012: Wait For It ...

Have you noticed that we live in a time-driven culture? Ever notice how often people check their smart phones or watches to see the time? Ever wonder what this does to our lives?Well, it does offer some sense of structure and control. At the same time, from a magical perspective, our watches are often irrelevant, especially when it comes to Magic 2012.

Magic 2012 and Time
Earlier in the year, we wrote about how time acts funny in 2012. That's certainly true. When it comes to Magic 2012, there is another facet of time to which we need to pay attention: universal time.

Certain desires are manifested very quickly in 2012, while others come into creation much slower than ever. This can be confusing for those of us who are used to relying on our watches. So what should we do?

Wait. Yup, that's right, wait.

If one or more of your desires seems to be taking a long time to manifest, just wait for it. The Universe has a very good reason for its timing. Perhaps the Universe is delaying to prevent an unfortunate accident that might otherwise happen. Or sometimes the Universe is waiting for specific conditions to be right so that your desire can fully flower.

You can, of course, use divination to find out what the Universe has in store for you ... or you could just wait for it! Sometimes it's more fun to just wait, and certainly takes less effort!

In the Meantime
For some of us, waiting is very difficult. We'd rather run a marathon than wait. If that sounds like you, then go ahead and run a marathon. Do whatever it takes for you to feel good, so that you send a joyous note to Creator's ear. The happier you are, the faster time will pass, and the quicker your desires will manifest. In fact, you may be surprised when your desire finally does come into full flower ... and won't that be fun.

When it comes to Magic 2012, if you are not sure what to do then just wait. Focus on activities that keep you happy and don't worry so much about "earning" that which you desire. Just enjoy the magic ... or go shopping in our online store of magical goodies! That's definitely fun!

Magic 2012: Which Group Are You In?

If you have been observant, you may have noticed three different ways in which the year 2012 is affecting the people around you.

1. Leaving the Planet: Many people are choosing this year as a convenient exit strategy. They may have been suffering from painful conditions or simply want to start over after all the hubbub of world change has died down.

2. Crazy but Surviving: This group of people is experiencing all kinds of craziness, but nevertheless emerging as survivors, albeit with slightly thinner wallets. For instance, one woman had the wheel of her truck come right off while she was driving. Luckily, she was able to steer her one-ton truck safely to the side of the road, and a helpful man stopped right behind her to give her assistance. She and her truck survived just fine. She
just had to pay $600 to fix the situation. She, like the other people in this group, are learning life lessons that will serve her well in coming years and lifetimes.

3. Nothing Different: This group is aware that 2012 is somehow "important" but nevertheless carrying on in life as if nothing is different. Being that our thoughts create our realities, nothing much is different for these people. These people don't suffer the same kind of loss as group #2, nor do they gain any sort of life
lessons. They are simply here, carrying on ... and the world does need people to do just that!

Magic 2012: What's Your Story?
Do any of the three groups described above resemble you? I suspect that if you are reading this article, you fall into group #2, where life appears to suck but you still manage to survive. The good news is that you will survive. The bad news is that if you don't listen to the messages the Universe is sending you, you will survive but look like you've just been through the meat grinder.

So how can you practice magic in 2012 so you survive without looking like ground beef? There are plenty of ways. Let me just name a few here ... see if any of these ideas spark your addled and confused brain!

1. Do something magical every day. EVERY day.

2. Remember that every intentional act is a magical act. Want to do magic? Use your intention.

3. Go deep into magic 2012--sign up for the online Basic Magic Course and really get a magical fix.

4. Ask the Universe to help you with specific projects or situations you can't seem to change. Stuff happens fast in 2012 so be prepared for life to take off at Mach-1.

5. Be specific. Yelling "Help!" to the Universe at large is good, but asking for specific help for a specific problem will yield faster and better results. Magic is a precision science so be precise.

6. Get a magic buddy. 2012 is a tough year so you may need a magic buddy to remind you to practice some magic every single day. Every single day.

7. When you feel nuts, look in the mirror and COMMAND yourself: "Come to present time." If you're really nuts, you may have to repeat this command several times. This brings you back into the present, where magic can actually happen.

12. Move your body to move your mind. If you find yourself in a mental rut, get out and move your body. Your Moving Center is far easier to shift then your Mental Center.

13. Choose one thing you will stop griping out. Stop talking about it. Stop thinking about it. Just one teensy thing ... that's not too much to ask, is it?

14. Need info? Ask yourself for the answer ... you know it. Write the question with your dominant hand. Write the answer with the other hand. Don't think about it, just do it.

15. Mad? Cool down by flowing that negative energy into your fridge. Really! Put your hands or head on the door of the fridge and flow red-orange energy into the fridge until you feel all relaxed.

16. Just give up! Magic happens when we allow room in our lives for the Universe to help. If you have asked the Universe to solve a problem for you, give up your end of the struggle. Let the Universe do the heavy lifting.

17. Have a happy childhood. Yup, you may be an adult but it's never too late to have a happy childhood. Do something that you always wanted to do as a kid. When you are happy, you sound a joyous note to Creator's ear and good magical things happen!

Magic 2012: You Can't Go Back!

This year, as predicted by many, is definitely a pivotal year. If you haven't had much personal experience with the extremes of 2012, just look around you. People are acting out. Accidents keep "almost happening." Life stuff keeps cropping up.

Now here's the real kick in the pants--you can do this all within the confines of your current life situation, whatever that may be. To use magic to create the desired effects in your life, you will probably need to change SOME aspects of your life, but don't go crazy. It is quite easy to throw the baby out with the bath water this year.

Remember that any intentional act is a magical act. Effective Magic 2012 calls for an intentional act or ritual that opens you up to new possibilities.
