Under Attack? Magic's Got Your Back

Every single person has the right to sacred space, and fully safety and security within that sacred space. If you are under attack--physical or psychic--then magical self defense can help. You may use any and all magical means to defend your sacred space from attack (from verbal abuse to someone getting too personal at work to out-and-out physical attack) so long as you follow the primary rule of self defense. The rule says, "In cases of direct and violent personal harm you are entitled to defend yourself by any means available provided you did nothing to encourage or provoke the attack." Here's a more in-depth look at this rule and what it means when considering the use of magical self defense.

Direct – This includes a threat made upon body, mind or spirit. In a magical sense this would include attempts from any outside force or influence to cause a drain on your energy or impose their will upon you.

Violent – Anything that damages your physical, mental, emotional or spiritual well being is considered violent in a magical sense. Their intention to do violence or not is not part of the consideration, only what harm is actually done.

Encourage – This means that you have done nothing that would create or permit an unnecessary opportunity for a hostile being to attack you.

Provoke – If you know a sore spot someone has or know they are under a lot of internal or external stress and you become excessively pushy or confrontive, then these would be considered provoking on your part.

By Any Means Available – As long as all the other conditions of this rule are met, you can use whatever means you choose to defend yourself and the Universe will not consider any response you offer as excessive.
